[If I'm understanding right, we've all stepped part of the way into the hall, to examine the alcove. Have we entered the enchanted area already?]
[If we have, then] "Careful with the doors. They might set off some magical trap."
[But if we haven't set foot in the magic yet, then] "Just great." Bjorn stoops down to test the area by rolling one of the luminous globes down the hallway. He waits a moment before rolling it, in case anyone wants to step back into the stairwell.
Sorsha too takes a look at the painting with the large warship being attacked and drug down by the kraken, feeling very uneasy as she sees herself in it, trying to recognize if this picture is somehow capturing the doom of her former ship.
(OOC: About the secret door mentioned, are you referring to the secret door Sorsha found outside of the building in post #634 or did I miss something?)
Vars also takes a look in the reading nook, pointedly keeping his eyes off of the paintings. The last thing any of them need is to be whisked away again.

Both Sparhawk and Frangipani have entered the magic zone which is concentrated on the alcove/ painting area in the middle of the hallway.

The ship is indeed Sorshas old ship, and the men on the deck are her shipmates. Sorsha needs to roll Wis save dc 12.
Vars thoroughly checks the books again, and again, sure that there had to be something of note there. Grumbling, he finally concludes that there is in fact, nothing else of use in the alcove.
Turning to the paintings, he finally looks at them. He watches Sorsha, curious to see her reaction. At the same time, he is somewhat unsettled. Why would Abernath have a painting of Sorsha's former ship in his house?
Sorsha, shakes off the emotion as she looks at the painting. Amazed on how how every detail of the ship has been captured. The way the rigging was setup, a method quite different than usually done on this type of ship. Even the broken plank on the steps to the forecastle. The tentacles even seem to be moist and slimy…
Sorsha stares at the painting for a while before averting her eyes with a shudder. "Yes, weird indeed."She says and makes an effort to not look at the painting again. "I suppose whoever painted this had a vision of that...tragedy. But also to catch it like that, there has to be magic involved. I will remember to ask Abernath about it once we find him."
"Do you doubt we will accomplish our mission?" Sorsha say with a wink at Vars. "But yes, we should move on." She adds and moves up to the first door to the left (east) and peeks in. Perception: 8
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Keep your eyes open, I have a feeling there are additional dangers here." Sparhawk follows, looking for anything dangerous (movement, trap) Perception: 8
Bjorn backs onto the stairway inc are of something being triggered. He has the sensation of being watched…
Sorsha opens the door and takes a look inside. The room is dark and without windows. She can see the outline of shelves all the way around the room and a small table with a scale and some different sized spoons on a metal tray
Upon lighting the room by some means, you see the shelves are chock full of different jars, some clear and some opaque. All are labeled and appear to be spell components of some sort or another. None of you have never seen this many in one place before.
( if any investigate these jars roll a d4 and then a d20)
"Magic, up here? What for?"

(Yes, post 634, the moss covered door)
(OOC: Okay, we'll see if that door will be relevant when we search the rest of the ground floor :-)
There is nothing else of note in the reading nook

Sorsha Wis save: 20

If he can, Sparhawk backs away from the paintings, keeping on eye on Sorsha. (Roll if needed).

"Sorsha, are you ok. Weird painting to have here." Sparhawk is quite concerned.

Vars smiles, "No, but I have my doubts as to whether or not he will still be alive." He also looks around in the new room,
Perception: 3
