Muir shared the same mistrust of the situation as Sam but Muir was completely caught off guard by Sam speaking to him without an insult or accusation of some sort. All Muir was able to do was nod back to Sam in agreement. Upon hearing Ginro's explanation Muir still was suspicious of the situation....Would Nivara only do something to one of the Djinn's and not the others...it didn't make sense to him. He stood just inside the vault door.
"To be clear. No representative of Vox ever came here? Nothing was ever sent by Vox, only that you were to make a box?"
Vin acknowledges Professor Hu with a nod of his head and wanders to look through the glass at all the shelves.
He turns back after a moment, "`Good to meet you, Professor", he says mimicking Ginro in speaking a little louder than normal. "Ginro has mentioned you have picked out some artefacts that may be of help to us. I would be grateful if you could show us".
Gewyn, noticing the owlin's apparent deafness, absently strums at his cittern, plucking at thread of magic as surely as he plucks the strings. Then he reaches out to shake the owlin's hand, sending a buildup of restorative magic through the touch to see if he could restore the professor's deafened condition. "Nice to meet you, professor..."he struggles not to make an owl sound. "... Hu."
"the container we made was put in Vox's head?" Ginro asks confused at the insinuation.
Professor Hu greets Vin with a beaky old man smile and offers a hand shake. "A pleasure. Based upon the description of your abilities I have selected twooo items for each of yooOoou to chooOoose from... Ahem. Apologies, this trade tongue does not lend itself well to my instinctual reflexes. Anyway as the item you chooOoose is a gift, I hope you do not find it insulting that I ask you only pick one. For you vin I have selected this tome or this rod. The tome is one of of leadership and influence, it takes a year to make due to the lengthy weave of arcane which must be enchanted into the teachings within and the rod is that of the pact keeper, (+3 very rare), if you would like any more information just ask, this isn't a decision to be made in haste."
As Gewyn approaches and temporarily restores the professors hearing he looks up in surprise and quickly feels the sides of his head, "my my, thank yooOoou young man! I feel like a youth once more my hearing much better" (Though the impairment isn't necessarily a condition I think this method is pretty clever so I'm allowing a temporary relief for the poor old owlin, good thinking) "for you Gewyn, You have the choice of this sword or this manual, the sword is named a dancing longsword as it can mooOoove and attack along side you, free of your own actions but not for tooOoo long, or for tooOoo far. The manual is of bodily health, the same as Vin's choice here it has arcane woven through each page and takes time to enchant yourself with it's properties as you read throoOoogh."
Sam side-eyes Ginro when he asks his question and then steps a couple steps away from the Djinn and speaks softly to Muir and Elthana. Vin and Gewyn seem more engaged with the Owlin already...
"Vox Tronitor," Sam answers. "It was like half embedded in her head. When I could see her, anyway... It could have been the drink, honestly, but I ain't never had a drunk dreaming like that before. It was while i was sleeping. I didn't know Ginro made a box... Or maybe I did. Maybe I heard it mentioned last night? I was pretty well into my cups though and don't think I was paying any attention..." Sam shrugs, unsure of it all.
"She seemed more shocked by my presence than I was of hers. It was my dream after all, I guess, so I would expect weirdness? Anyway, the idea that I was once undead as well was floated as to maybe why we had a connection... She said Nivara is controlling her body but she still has some mind left. Needs it to keep the realm intact. Which Nivara also wants... At least for now. At one point she kind of suggested she could imbue another with her power in order to save the realm but they would need go to her. She suggested a Djinn since they're already intricately connected to the realm and thus could probably contain the power. I personally don't trust a single one of them we met so far though..."
"But yeah, probably just the alcohol... The way that cube was just stuck in her skull like that... Kind of gross."
Vin listens to the Professor explain the choices he has, and then considered his options for a moment. "Leadership and influence sure would be handy with this lot", he mutters to the Professor, reaching for the tome. Neferox seems to be pleased with his choice, but she also notices Sam, Muir and Elthana getting together for a chat. She doesn't react or try to overhear or anything, just keeps an eye on the situation.
"How long does it take to take effect? We are in a strange dilemma with time running faster here, will that help or hinder my efforts do you think? Do you know much about time?", Vin asks the Professor.
Professor Hu nods in appreciation of Vin's choice, "time is perspective dear child, your time, my time, they may be different, but the importance with tomes such as these is that yooOoou take the amount of time you need to fully understand the contents, only then will the enchantment awake within yooOoou, this particular volume is written in a form of elvish, you can read elvish yes?" He gives a hesitant gesture to Vin's half elvish ears "it should take you twooOoo days, ahem.. to read throoOoogh the entire book."
Muir listens to Sam unsure how to react to Sam seemingly….fine suddenly….”Ah yes…the box was in Vox’s head and Vox is alive and spoke to you in your dream….I have so many….uh questions….never mind my questions” Muir not wanting to lose anymore appendages quiets back down and moves towards Ginro and the professor and waits
Sam watches Muir walk away. He then turns to Elthana and shrugs. “Muir isn’t Muir…” That said, Sam stays in the doorway, well away from Ginro and the professor but keeping them in sight…
"If nothing else, check out his hands. Whatever has replaced him got the number of fingers wrong..."
"That was a hard choice, but I think this tome will be very useful, thank you. Obviously I understand that gifting two powerful artefacts would be too much, but what would you say to a trade for the other?", he asks Ginro.
Ginro doesn't seem too enthused but takes the items than vin offers and identifies them, one rod of the pact keeper, a weaker version than the one offered by professor Hu and one hunters coat. Ginro turns the coat over in his good hand and frowns a little, "I'm sorry Vin, the items offered were worth much more than what you have here, and since we converted to the currency system that your realm introduced us to, we just can't be giving away more than what we're offering, this coat is interesting but not easily replicated with the natural resources of Thaeir, that and the enchantment provides necrotic effects on the damage one could inflict, not particularly useful against the undead. I hope you make good use of the choice you made but don't worry, In the coming fight the other item will be made use of, this is an 'all of your eggs in one basket' scenario, it won't just be collecting dust on some shelf whist your group is out fighting I promise."
As Gewyn peruses his choices, professor Hu seems content with waiting, and Ginro glances over to the whisper council of Sam and Elthana concerned but not overly so. Ömertyr seems to have placed his massive body inbetween Ginro and the private conversation between Sam and Elthana in response and though he too seems interested in one of the items he engages Ginro in conversation to hold the djiin's attention.
"No problem, it was a long shot", Vin replies to Ginro. "I had better start studying", he then says and wanders off to sit leant against a wall and opens the tome whilst he waits for everyone else to be done.
Elthana looks taken aback by the dream Sam revealed, "I told you.. dreams, even nightmares, are important." As Muir looks like he is about to ask the questions he normally would, the shadow elf waits to hear what he has to say, but as Muir turns around and heads back to the Professor instead, she sighs and starts whispering with Sam again.
As Muir approaches the tables, Professor Hu greets him kindly and shows him two items, the first is a dark robe with many line of varying lengths sewn all over every surface, the second looks like a handle of some sort, or perhaps a bracer, made of thick glass and upon the front of it a star like crystal. "This robe is not currently replicable as it used shadowfell magic in its creation, It tooOook Ginro a bit of time to persuade me to offer this, it is called a robe of eyes. This item on the other hand is replicable though at the cost of much time by a highly experienced enchanter working in conjunction with an armourer, when equipped and activated this handle becomes a sheild which like the sword offered to Gewyn can move freely of yooOoou for some time and protect you, as with the others please chooOoose one" the professor remains ready to answer any questions as Gewyn and Muir make their decisions.
Ömertyr having gotten bored of acting as a shield for Sam and Elthana's hushed conversation goes over to the table and lifts up a large belt with interest and starts excitedly shouting over to Sam in giant, Ginro pipes up in common in response, though doesn't move closer to the secretive pair. "ah yes, Sam since I wasn't able to glean your specific abilities and specialties, I took a chance on the information you did relenquish, namely your affinity for, and defense of, martial weaponry. I'm sure this belt will help you in that skillset, though I must apologise that you weren't offered the same kind of selection as your group."
While waiting for Elthana to respond to his latest whispered comment to her, Sam hears Ömertyr calling to him and gesticulating wildly. Sam looks away from El to the Giant to see what he is on about and spots the belt that has him so excited. Sam calls back to Ömertyr, in Giant, in a lower voice than the Giant is using but still loud enough to be sure that they can hear him.
Even as Sam is responding to Ömertyr, he hears Ginro chime in about the item in question. "Anyone can swing a sword," Sam responds to the Djinn back in Common. "Don't need no fancy belts to do so. So I'm good... Thanks, but no thanks."
Ginro turns to Sam blinking with disbelief at the words he loudly pronounces in giant across the room to Ömertyr, and in common responds "I understand your precaution, but I can assure you that no curses dwell within these items... As for trust, this is a show of trust. My trust in your group. These items here are a gift to enhance your skillsets. I am placing a great deal of trust in the chance that you all might weild them to successfully rid this plane of Nivara, what about that do you think is untrustworthy? A stranger I might be to you Sam but who's choice was that? I certainly didn't make you sit at the bar and drink yourself stupid whilst your friends here actually had insightful questions and formed a plan." The smile on Ginro's face fades and is replaced with a mild frustration, like that of an exasperated teacher, "The belt of giant strength is a gift, take it or leave it. But your mistrust and seemingly your ire for me is completely illogical and entirely misplaced."
"To be clear. No representative of Vox ever came here? Nothing was ever sent by Vox, only that you were to make a box?"
"Box?" Sam asks, a bit shaken. "Like the one in her head? How'd you know about that??"
“Huh? Whose head? Ginro told us earlier they made a box for Vox”

He then looks to gewyn to see what he will choose.

Muir waits by for his turn with the items thinking about what Sam said
