Thelan looks back in the room as Sinak reacts to the book and hisses “We are out of time, get ready!” He turns back to the door and prepares to draw Moonpetal when he hears the voices outside the room. “It is the children! Hurry!” Thelan leaves his sword sheathed and instead unlocks and opens the door, looking for the children on the other side. Perception: 6.
Thelan - You open the door and find two wide eyed, startled children staring back at you. A young brown-haired girl with silver streaks in it gasps and steps behind an older boy with curly brown hair. He puts a determined look upon his face and says, "Run Syllin! I will hold them off!" The werewolf howls again and Syllin says, "Daddy?" She suddenly darts ahead, trying to get into the room and see the source of the howling.

"It's...It's Lia's husband." Yasmina says, looking at the beast in the silver cage. Then seeing the girl running towards the cage Yasmina moves to intercept her. "Wait, you are right, it is your father, but he's not the father you once knew." She says with all the calm she can muster, making a gesture with her hand to make a wall of stone appear around the cage.

Yasmina - Syllin gasps, "Wh... Where did he go? Daddy!?" She looks at you and hears what you said, "What do you mean? That's my daddy... He's... We're..." Syllin begins crying and Faen approaches, "She's trying to say that we... Our tribe... We can change into wolves... But we're not evil!" He holds Syllin close to him and says to her, "It's okay Syllin. I think they're here to help us."
Krugh - Faen looks over to the illusory wall where the howls are emanating from, then to you, "L-Lucan. His name was..." You see him begin to cry as he finishes, "Lucan." When Faen says the name, the werewolf emits a terribly anguished howl and falls silent, but for the occasional soft whimper.

As both children enter the room, Thelan looks beyond the door to get an understanding of the hallway or room beyond and to see if there are any threats, or anyone following the children. Perception: 17.
If the other room is clear, Thelan pulls the door shut and locks it again to give them time to sort out exactly what was going on. He tries to help soothe the children. “Yes, we are here to help. Your mother sent us to find you and return you to her.” He looks at the illusory wall “But if that is your father, how? Your mother thought him killed in battle with the Orcs.” He pauses, then looks at Krugh, then Sinak “The door was locked from the inside! Is it possible he locked himself in here and in the cage knowing what he would become when the moon turned?” It was a lot to take in, Thelan did not believe the werewolf story when the hag first told them and he was still struggling to understand now that he was facing the truth.
Yasmina kneels by the children and smiles warmly at them. "You are right Faen, we are here to help. Your mother Lia sent us."She says, showing them the silver pendant. "She misses you very much. You have both been very brave. We will try to find a way to help your father, but first we must take you to your mother. Do you know a way out of here where we don't have to face the dragon and it's minions?"She says calmly, still smiling warmly at the children.
“Aha!” Sinak says, oblivious to the tact of the situation, sounding like he just won a game of chess. “Lycanthropes! And an undead one…” turning to look at undead wereLucan behind bars, tapping his chin and shaking his arm. “I wish I could read that journal. My QueenI would like to know what it contains… it might explain a lot.”

Neela shakes her head at Krugh: "No, the elves told us that Lucan was her husband and that he was among the elves killed in the attack. Fivin carried out the funerary rituals for the dead. Oh, I wonder if this lab and that book belongs to Fivin! And if Fivin was the one who brought Lucan back. Or maybe...he was trying to put him to rest but the process was interrupted by the dragon attack. I think Fivin locked him in here, and that's why he offered to come back, so he could finish what he started. Oh and you know it was awfully convenient how the fox spirit killed the hag before she could tell us anything more about the lycanthropy. Beware the feather...the spirit didn't want you reading that book." Neela is jabbering again, a little too wrapped up in trying to piece together the story. She moves over to the book and feather near Sinak and looks over them, trying to determine on which item the magical ward was placed, and if that ward is still in place.

Sinak agrees with Neela’s thoughts, nodding. He looks at the journal and the feather again, trying to discern which is warded, which caused him injury.

Afterwards, when the children are in the room and the door is secure, he begins once again to ritually cast detect magic to make this even clearer and look around the room at everything else, detecting any other magical sources in the room. As he does so, he says “It is unclear who did this, if it was Fivin like you say, or some other that we haven’t met yet, that was necrotic energy that hit me, some necromancer that is working in league with this dragon and the kobolds, turning the werewolves into undead werewolves. Foul magic.”

"Ohhh undead! That's another connection! The Will-o'-wisp the dragon and kobolds are talking to is undead! Do you think Fivin could have orchestrated this whole thing? Why?" Her voice is lowered to an urgent whisper to Sinak, and indicates Krugh to do the same, lest the children hear them.
Thelan - The children are holding one another and crying. They huddle closer and turn from you when you speak to them about their father.
Yasmina - Syllin looks up at you with teary eyes and says, "You know my mommy?" Faen listens and sniffles as he says, "No, we didn't even know abotu this place. We just heard the noise and the howling and Syllin kept running, saying she could hear our father. The only way out is through the front door."
Krugh - You attempts at conversation only serve to further upset the children.
Neela - You fail to recall any lore specifically pertaining to enchanted feathers, but seem to recall a tale about a magical cookbook maybe?
Sinak - With your detect magic, you detect the remnants of Necromancy magic in the journal. There is not enough left now to do you or anyone else any further harm. Inside, the journal details someone's work with necromancy and lycanthropy.
Sinak Insight: 14
The writings are disjointed and hard to understand at times, but you gather that whoever wrote the journal was trying to create a new form of lycanthropy, that affects both the living and dead. In the last entry, they referred to the death of so many lycanthropes during the fight with Orcs as, "...most fortuitous. Duskbringer will finish off the rest and I will have enough material to begin my research in earnest."

Hmmm... so who is Fivin? Flavin? Fsomething
Anyway. I'm sorry child but your father is most likely lost to you. You should say your goodbyes and we shoul lessen his pain.
Krugh tries to speak softly and with empathy
Perhaps releasing him upon the kobolds to allow us to escape with the children would be a good and honored way to die.

If there are good werewolfs, maybe Fivin is a good necromancer? Is there such a thing?

What about the kids? They must be werewolfs as well? Will the attack us?
