Faloniir will curse under his breath and hurry over to what he suspects is Verla's corpse. He'll first try to detect breathing and if he detects none, he'll pull off a glove and try to detect a pulse. Alive or dead, he'll try to lift the statue/person (225lb carrying capacity, currently carrying 21lbs). If he can carry it alone, he'll bring it downstairs and out of the burning shop. If not, he'll call for help from Fro. Before leaving the room, Faloniir will quickly scan it to ensure there's no one else possibly hiding from the bandits.
Verla was a slight figure, and freezing has not added any mass to her form. She weighs 120 lb at most. She's most definitely dead, her body rigid and solid, unyielding like a statue. This does make it more awkward to carry her, but with Fro's help you're able to get her out easily enough.
The rest of the floor is taken up by crates of junk, save for one other area arranged as a small kitchen.
Unable to tell what is going on inside, Banyan stays in the alleyway to look over the captured intruders as Gilwyn rushes back into the building. While he waits, Banyan does a quick check of the three captives to see if there are any immediate life-threatening injuries.

Content that there is no one left upstairs, Faloniir will carry Verla outside with the rest and lay her gently in the snow, "Someone should get Elro. I'll stay here to watch our captives." He will then make sure the bandits are all in one area and not too close to one another. As he watches them, he will also keep an eye out for any other villagers who might be able to conscript others to start a bucket brigade to douse the flames.
Raegrin was knocked unconscious by the hilt of Faloniir’s sword to the head, there’s a nice lump there, but he’s also clearly in early stages of the freezing sickness.
Another has fainted from blood loss due to an arrow wound and scorches, but he’s stable.
The third is unharmed and sits sullenly.
Fro:
the second bookcase is up in flames. The fire was initially accelerated by the oil in the lamp. It’s a robust fire at this point, fueled by books.
Faloniir, there’s a guard on watch passing by. You’re able to hail her and she quickly uses her authority to mobilize nearby citizens in their homes and other guards to get a bucket brigade. By the time the fire is extinguished, Pelc’s has sustained significant damage to the one wall, but the building still stands, now with a gaping smoking hole.
As the fire gets under control, Banyan signals the group over."These three look like they are in good enough shape to hand over to the guard to take care of. Anything you want to ask them first?"
Faloniir will ask any that are conscious, "Why were you here? What were you looking for? Who do you work for?" Though he has a feeling they'll give him the same answers he heard from Tulgi, he'll ask anyway to see if the stories align.
Raegrin and the injured intruder have woken up. They sit before you while the authorities and the town are busy putting out the fire. Raegrin, appearing glum, begins to talk,
"We were looking for a cure--"
But the others shush him and he clams up. The injured one looks a bit dazed and sits staring at the ground. The uninjured one gives you defiant stares.
Faloniir will find Elro and say, "I'm afraid I haven't been entirely truthful with you regarding my reasons for coming here. Raegrin is not my cousin. I am a bounty hunter and he is the one I've been hired to apprehend. I apologize for the subversion, my line of work requires a certain degree of secrecy to prevent tipping off the wanted person. You and the people of Palebank have been kind and accommodating and you deserve better than lies. Again, I apologize." He turns and points out Raegrin from the group, "That's Raegrin. Are you able to take custody of him? All you need to do is hold him here until a representative arrives to take him back to Zadash. You will be compensated for your trouble." Faloniir shrugs out of his pack and digs through it until he finds the bounty contract, "Here is the contract of you'd like to read it."
Faloniir does not have to look hard to find Elro, for he will arrive personally to evaluate the after-hours commotion. He listens to you carefully and examines your papers. At length he speaks, “This is a serious matter. I will think on this further. Normally we have no resources or patience to put up with criminals, when we are able to catch them, but out of respect to you and your services being rendered to Palebank Village, I will hold him in custody for you. We will do it here, at Pelc’s. “
Banyan unwraps the dagger and shows it to the intruders. They flinch away from it and Raegrin shudders, “Not again!” The gaze of the other two dart back and forth between him and the dagger, which is ornate and beautifully crafted, quite unique and spectacular.
Eventually the unhurt one says, “Why are you doing this? This is the same thing Hulil did to us. Are these things all cursed?”
Faloniir's eyes widen when Banyan reveals the dagger, "We shouldn't touch any of these items unless we are certain they aren't cursed or contagious." Turning back to Elro, he will say, "Is there anyone in the village with any magic about them? Someone that could perhaps identify any enchantments or curses?"
"Yes, I've already summoned Dunaron, Priest of the Dawnflower. Besides ministering to the village with his healing abilities, he is sometimes consulted to examine artifacts that have returned from Eiselcross. Between us, he's been quite devastated at his inability to cure this strange freezing sickness. Ah, here he is now."
A dwarf in simple robes under a heavy cloak and jacket has arrived. "Elro, I'm here. Are there any injured?"
Elro explains the situation to him, and Dunaron is happy to examine the dagger. He has the dagger set on the ground, still in the blanket, and sits before it. He begins a lengthy prayer to his god. After a time, he sighs, seems disappointed in some way. He then reaches out and takes hold of the dagger, and stands up. He hands it to Elro, who arches an eyebrow but, after a moment's hesitation, takes it in his hands.
Dunaron explains,
"It's quite safe. No curses or spells. It's not the source of the sickness. It was made long ago in some advanced manner with aid of magic, so it's much higher quality than what you could get around here. We see this sort of craftsmanship from time to time coming out of Eiselcross."
( It's a Dagger +1 and is considered a magical weapon )
Elro admires the dagger for a bit and says, "You said this was one of the things that Urgon brought back? And he sold it to Verla? And it was stolen by Tulgi? Well, she has no rightful claim to it, and the other two have passed on, so it seems reasonable it should stay in your possession."
Faloniir relaxes when the dwarven priest deems the dagger safe to handle. He will say to Elro and Dunaron, "Tulgi said the rest of the items were taken back to the Utolott hideout at croaker's cave." Faloniir indicates the bandits with a nod of his head, "They're down four, possibly more if they're sending sick ones out to seek a cure. I say we make for the cave as soon as possible. Retrieve the stolen goods and clear out the bandits. Do you have any advice on how to properly handle the items if we find them?"
“I’m no expert, but we have seen 1 or 2 items over the years that were cursed. In both cases, direct contact with the skin seemed to be a requirement for magical transfer of adverse effects. I believe wrapping suspicious items, as you have, should be safe. But again, I can’t be certain.”

Fro is starting to cough a bit but it’s minor. Faloniir is doing well with the smoke so far. Used your waterskin to douse the cloak?
(Note that I made 2 posts, there’s one on the previous page)

“Recognise this?”
