Banyan feels a tension in his chest release that he didn’t know he had been holding on to. He looked at the dagger with new eyes, taking in the design before tentatively touching it and then finally grasping the handle to see how it feels. Quickly he tucks it into his belt before turning back to the conversation.
“Thank you. I will take note. Still, I’m glad to have taken precautions with this one.”
Fro, after much searching, is not able to find any of Urgon’s items listed on his receipt. She does spot a book, several bookcases down from the fire and unharmed, titled “Manufactured Plagues and Other Atrocities of the Ancestor War”.
After a bit, Faloniir will gather the party and ask for their opinions on their next course of action. He will echo his earlier sentiments, "Tulgi said the rest of the items were taken back to the Utolott hideout at croaker's cave." Faloniir indicates the bandits with a nod of his head, "They're down four, possibly more if they're sending sick ones out to seek a cure. I say we make for the cave as soon as possible. Retrieve the stolen goods and clear out the bandits."
Fro agrees with Faloniir. "I think now would be an excellent time to go the cave. They are obviously down some men and I would guess they are not expecting a direct confrontation abou the items."
Fro pulls the book from the shelf. "Hey, check this out guys, I wonder if we can find any clues in here about the curse."
"Can I borrow that while you head to the cave? It might have useful information to fill in some of the gaps of the other books I'm researching."
The party decides to proceed directly to Croaker Cave. The night is half spent now, but there's still plenty of time for a midnight bandit's base incursion! Elro gives you instructions on how to get there, which is easy enough, just another 5 mile hike out of town into the wilderness, this time away from the mountains. The night is cold but manageable, cloudless and well lit by the moon.
Let me know how you'd like to proceed as you get closer to the cave. You can also interrogate the bandits more or whatever you like if we're moving along too quickly.
You slow as you approach, Fro striding confidently, Faloniir and the others shadowing behind more stealthily, ready to back her up. You're approaching an area of slightly higher elevation, and rocky. None of you can fail to notice here, in the snow, the tracks of people coming and going. There do not yet appear to be lateral-moving tracks to indicate patrols. Soon enough you can see the cave entrance. It's a low, black slash in the rocky landscape ahead.
Faloniir will shrug and say to Fro, "I'm fine with that. I can hang back and cover you with my bow if you'd like. One is less threatening than four. Or, if you'd rather me stick with you as a show of force I will gladly do that."
The opening area of the cave is faintly lit from the bright moonlight outside. The slow dripping of water sounds out where it falls from stalactites down into a murky pool that fills the rough tunnel ahead. Every few moments, a loud croaking sounds out from somewhere in the darkness beyond. Fro, without some aid you cannot see the far end of the pool of water, cannot see further into the cave. Your salutation echoes echoes echoes…
Fro will stop to light a torch, waiting on Faloniir to join him as he continues toward the cave. "Hello, we are here looking for Tulgi's sister." Hello, is Hulil here?" " Hello, anyone home?"

Fro goes back in to the shop to help look for any clues.

She takes the book back to the group.
Elro would be very interested in the book.

(OOC: Fro is ready to move if the others are. She will take point.)
Faloniir is ready and would like to proceed with haste to the cave, but stealthily when we approach.
Stealth: 11
Banyan is ready to move to the cave also, after stopping to top up his arrows.
Banyan heads a little of the track to the opposite side to Faloniir, also trying to move stealthily. (Stealth: 16)

Fro shoes her approach and asks the others. "Any ideas, I'm simple, I would just walk up and ask to see the boss."
Faloniir will shrug and say to Fro, "I'm fine with that. I can hang back and cover you with my bow if you'd like. One is less threatening than four. Or, if you'd rather me stick with you as a show of force I will gladly do that."
So Fro will approach the entrance?
(OOC: I was waiting to see if any others like the idea, but..)
Fro will walk out of the shadows, not being very secretive so as to be seen as soon as she can. "Hello in the cave, is anyone there?"
(Refer to post #232 for Faloniir's opinion)
Faloniir will hang back and cover Fro with his bow.
Stealth: 12
yeah, I saw yours.. lol.. I guess with only 3 of us.. that should be enough.. sorry
(No need to apologize! Just want to make sure you saw it.)

Seeing no obvious dangers, Faloniir will join Fro and cautiously enter the cave.
