Goramar/Ram is able to read about as much as Ellaria was able to, that of a tired and stressed scholar. Eric however had managed to see a bit more than the others. She seemed guarded but her gaze wasn't malicious. He got the feeling that she was holding back some of her frustration in a effort to be more cordial. That she may have already been stressed before the conversation and that her patience is running a bit thin as it would seem. As Mood apologize's to Briggid she seems less than trusting of the apology only raising an eyebrow before letting Mood speak in private with the others.
- I don't see any malice in her. I believe she's just frustrated because se hasn't been able to complete her research so far. I say - and he nods to Ellaria - let's try this and give her what she wants. Who knows, if we do this right we could gain some reputation in the Academy and this could lead to more profitable jobs.
Ellaria takes the moment to speak directly to Briggid, "We would be willing to take on this endeavor. I do believe one of my companions asked whether parchment and ink for the necessary note taking would be provided. I personally would love to have an excess of the required materials, so we can be sure to take extensive notes on anything and everything of interest, without having to worry about preserving said materials due to the fear of running out. Is this something you can provide?"
Eclaire listens to the group as they come to the conclusion that the will indeed take the job. As Mood winks at her she blinks back his way tilting her head again as she stares up at Mood. Ellaria turns to Briggid asking what they could have for writing materials.
"This is something that I can provide, I'll inform the guard at the front to supply you with ink and parchment. It is also than that he will ask you all to sign a waiver. Essentially it states that I have warned you of what dangers I am aware of and you have decided to take on the task bravely regardless. So it seems we have come to an agreement after all. He will hand you a map of where the ruins are located in the jungle. I wish you luck on you're travels despite our feud previously."
Goramar patiently listens but has to agree, something is fishy he more than once gave a short nod at the complaints of his new companions. Clearly he has difficulty building trust over the elements they have been granted.
"This ... is a lot." The Half-Orc grunts as they do a party meeting. "Frankly this ain't feel worth dying for." He sighs. "I'm here now ain't I ? Since there's no way changing your mind I see, I'll play my part. Ain't like it one bit though, 'specially that contract part. Things get awry, I'll see no point in recklessness. Aye, you tag along, fine by me. So long as you keep your eyes open, your nose clean and that you damn make it alive."
He considers they don't need to know he definitely stole that last line that was spoken to him not that long ago.
As they return to Briggid, Goramar shows no intention to follow up with an apology. After all, he himself had not been insulting bespite his pretty obvious reluctance.
"Before we do," Goramar whispers to the Owlkin at some point. "I'd like a few words with you, Mrs. Frostclaw."
At Briggid's words Ellaria nods shortly, "Thank you for supplying us and as long there is nothing untoward in the contract we will be on our way shortly. No luck will be needed, but I appreciate it all the same."
Hearing Goramar's words as she was speaking to Briggid, Ellaria looks to him as she turns back to the group. She pauses for a second and whispers to him, "I never sign anything without reading it first. If there really is something wrong with the contract we will find it. If not, why burn the bridge? Or the bank? However you like it."
Then she returns to the group and will start heading to the guard to see about the contract, map and supplies. "At least we won't have to worry about paper." She says to the group as a whole.
She says to the half orc rather curious what was to come this time.
OOC For those reading the contract I will have it written down below.
"I hereby acknowledge that I was warned of the dangers and that this task is potentially fatal. I also accept that with a lack of findings a deduction can be taken from the reward money. If the findings do not match the price you feel is deserved you may take a copy of this contract along with you're findings and show the council. The lowest the reward can be decreased to is no lower than 375 gold pieces. While the highest increase can result in 1125 gold pieces. Any items found in the these ruins must be returned to Briggid Frostclaw."
Tala's ear twitch as she looks over the contract. She turns to ask Briggid.
"I don't see anything in here about us getting to keep the items with no historical significance. I would also like to know about any gold gems or such we recover. Our those ours to keep or do you require them to be turned into you?"
"It does not? Damn it all, excuse my language. As for gem's and such they must be examined like any other item before they are either placed in a case or returned to you. If you somehow find gold pieces which would be... Odd I do not need those, as long as it isn't an ancient currency that is. I suppose when I told my scribe to keep the contract simple and direct he kept it too simple. And before you ridicule me for belittling an adventurers intellect it was request made by many adventurers. Most of them prefer swinging their blades over talking, for better or worse you're the most talkative one's I've ran to in my time here I must admit."
Eclaire had barely read her contract before signing it on with her own name. Briggid raises an eyebrow at the eager young woman.
"Perhaps I can't speak for all of you on this matter.."
Eclaire looks up blinking at Briggid before offering a small little wave. Briggid had looked at her with a peculiar stare before focusing her attention back to the others.
Eric signs then contract too after reading It carefully. Then he tells everyone that he's going to need a while to sort some personal things out before leaving.
- It shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. We could meet again at the tavern and then leave, right? Also, do you think we need to purchase anything before leaving? Rations, rope, torches... things like that. Also, Miss Frostclaw, do you happen to know how long will it take us to reach the ruins? Do we need horses to make the journey?
"It's about a 14 mile hike to get their, more than a half day's I'd wager that isn't accounting for a full trip however."
OOC Are all aware of DnD's travel system? Just wanted to make sure real fast ^^
Here ya guys go just in case
For every hour past 8 hours traveled con saves are made to avoid exhaustion levels.
So travel normal pace for 10 hours and you'd have to make 2 con saves. Traveling fast surprisingly doesn't exhaust faster but will hurt you're passive wisdom by 5.
Here it is below ^^
Also before you guys start the journey feel free to handle any business/shopping/backstory stuff in town. If you want it private and unknown you can PM/DM me and we can roleplay it one on one if you wanna be sneaky. But if it's something you don't mind as public knowledge you can post here instead ^^
”Perfect shall we meet back at the inn in 2 hours? I’m going to make a quick check on a few guilds for job opportunities and maybe grab a few supplies.”
She gives a nod and takes her leave.

Deception for the sword: 8

Well they manage to hide holding the sword from Briggid's gaze ^^
Tala lifts a finger to her mouth in thought then smiles at Ellaria and says.
Ya lets kick some ass!
She then turns to mood and the rest of the group.
Thank you for smoothing things over and I apologize for my outburst. Stuffy people just really just rub me the wrong way, but its no excuse.
She bows her head in apology.

Mood's brow furrows as he considers Eric's words. "Fair point... I'm game, provided you folks will allow me to tag along?" He winks at Eclaire.
Hi there! I'm a Christian musician based in Canada :)

"The best I like it is not burning nothin'." Goramar's jaw twitches as he slightly grins to Tala.
As he gets a few words with Briggid, the Half-Orc reaches under his coat to show his sigil.
"Let's be honest, I'd rather it ain't come to that, but in case I'm not coming back, words should go to Sir Chassebois."
He nods, hoping that is enough and he gets to reading the contract.

“Do people really sign things without reading them?”
She then awkwardly watches Eclaire sign it with a deadpan look.
Briggid looks to Tala than to Elclaire.
"More do than you would think."
Eclaire looks back up before waving back at Tala as she looks her way.
