((Is the metal small enough that it could be shifted? If so, Kathra would try to lever it out of the pool with, I presume, a strength check: 19))
((It is not. Think of it like a slag lump in the corner that has run in little rivulets down into a dip in the rocks, then as the ice around the area meted, the rock dip became a small pond. So the metal is sort of bonded with the rock in small web-like streams that go down into the bottom of the pond.))

So just so I'm clear - what's the ice to bedrock ratio in this cavern? I'm getting the sense it's largely stone, but my mental image was that the outside was mostly ice... ((sorry I'm I'm being dense))
I check for signs of any one or any thing moving about in here - tracks, places where things have cracked more due to outside pressure rather than heat, etc.
And just to say it, any insight I might have from the standpoint of living in cold mountain climes - as to whether this place has been lived-in, I'd apply.

Anything else in the cavern radiating magic? also doing an investigation check as I walk around. Investigation: 3
He informs the group on his findings, “The Magic this slag is radiating seems very similar to what the discs show. Maybe this is the unused slag from making them?”

((No, it's fine. The ground is all stone. As you get further east, the bedrock slants up to what you would presume to be the mountain wall that the glacier is cutting through. You guys came in from the west, which has more ice-based walls that the eastern side of the cavern. The circular tunnel that Peren found is cut through the ice more towards the north western corner near where you came in.))
For Thont:
This place doesn't look very lived in. From what you can tell, its more like a trash hole, if the slag in the corner and the pond were what you were considering trash.
For Gavin:
While poking around near the slag heap you think to look up and see a circular tube about five feet wide cut straight up through the ice and stone about thirty feet before ending in what looks like a metal bar grate. You don't sense any other magic down here.
((So the grate is 30’ off the ground? Is it likely one of us could climb up there to see if we can open it. Also, do see another way out of this area other than the way we came in?))
I point to the grate alerting the others to it, “”Maybe a more secretive way in???”

Kathra finally stops poking at the metal with her ace, satisfied. "Doesn't seem to be much down here, but I think our mystery druids are only recently back in business, assuming this is the same metal as those coins."
The slag is most certainly metal, though, much like the disks, it is of an alloy you are very unfamiliar with. That and it seems to still be giving off heat, even though it looks like it should have been cooled off a long time ago. Gavin did say there was some magic in it so....

“Peren, could you climb up there and see if the grate is removable?” Gavin asks. “”You’re not claustrophobic are you Thont?, That may be a tight squeeze for you”
((While waiting for Maribel we can see if it’s even an option I guess))
With the help of some climbing gear, you work your way up the warm tube to the metal grate. It seems secure, but you see a latch system on two sides that you can likely unhinge with your thieves tools. The room beyond is very dark and quiet.

((Here' this should help a little.))
((Awesome, thanks))
Do we see any arrow slots or murder holes in the ceiling?

Investigation: 4
((It's definitely....metal?))
Peren says there is the tunnel in the ice that we have not investigated
Actullay a tube in the ice, that is large enough for us to go through.
Peren studies his surroundings and waits for input from the group
((No arrow slots or murder holes. The ceiling is mostly either ice or rock depending on which side of the cavern you are standing on.
Yes, the tube in the ceiling goes up about 30 feet and ends at a metal grate. There seem to only be three ways out of the cavern.
Once Mirabel checks in with a check of some kind we'll try whichever path you guys agree on.))

Peren says sure I will give it a try
does anyone have a grappling hook? I have some rope we could throw the hook and I could climb up and have a look
((The good news is that you guys have climbing gear!))
((Could I just climb up with a dex check?))

((yea I forgot about the climbing gear)) :-)

Peren will try to open the grate with his thieves tools
14
But not go into the room, I just want to make sure I can open the gate, and then I will climb down and tell everyone what our options are
For Peren:
Both hinges pop easily from your efforts. The grate can now be slid off to the floor of the dark room.
