When they start their watch together, Breenie spends a few minutes trying to think of the best way to phrase things. “Hey, Maisor,” she finally says. “You know, if you need a little help to afford that armor, you know, once we get to Haven, I… What’s that?”
Noticing the light far away in the mountains, Breenie loses her train of thought.
“I have no idea.” Breenie frowns as she answers Maisor’s whisper. “But you’re right, I don’t think it’s moving. And it’s too far away to just go running off to see. Especially alone. Not the way things have been going. Maybe we should wake the others.”
Breenie begins nudging the rest of the party awake. When she reaches Riverwind, she stands as far back as she can and prods his shoulder with one finger. She doesn’t know what kind of waker he is, especially as protective as he seems of Goldmoon, and she doesn’t want to be in range of any flying fists.
So the rest of the night goes without incident the light that was seen was coming from north side of the Kiri Valley. As the dawn approaches the heroes gather their things and move out. The forests opens and a road can be seen leading through the valley. You can either take the road or deal with difficult travel slowing the party down. //If you all take the road it will take you up the last hill before leaving the valley. If you all take the rough way you only make half way across the valley. I need to which one your taking.
"Likely? No. Possible? I suppose. I would think they will send forces to Haven. It's the closest town of any size so an obvious destination. If we stick to the road, maybe we beat them there. Then again maybe we run into our pursuers on the way. On the other hand, if we stick to the woods, maybe we avoid our pursuers the whole way. But if they are gong to Haven they will likely beat us by a full day and all sorts of time to setup any manner of nasty surprise. You ask me? They are both shitty ideas...But I'll be damned if I've got a better one."
Teric takes a long look at the woods, imagining the rough going. A humorless grin, pulls at the corner of his mouth. "I vote we take the road. We won't have to wait as long to get killed and we won't be as tired when we do."

"I think we ll need to make it quick." Killian says.
"One of you should scout ahead so we can hide if patrols arrive."
"Not likely that word travelled so fast but seeing how they seemed to be looking for that staff they might have others parties looking for it."
"My elven friend you seem to be the best suited to move ahead and keep an eye out. You 'll probably travel faster in the woods than any of us." Killan looks at the elf than at the others a bit embarrassed.
Lorival rubs her tired eyes, "Just so you know my abilities are diminished this morning, broken sleep is not a Wizards friend. But I will do my best for you all."
"Sorry," Breenie murmurs to Lorival. "I thought maybe the light was important."
With Maisor and Teclis scouting ahead, Breenie decides the best use of her abilities is to trail the group and watch their rear. Although her cloak remains slightly damp and smells like lake water, she pulls it around herself and sticks to the trees alongside the road, watching the road behind their group in case trouble comes creeping up from that direction.
OOC: It's the next morning. Willowleaf said the rest of the night went by without incident. Or are you saying that because Lorival was awaken at all?
Lorival was last watch so if she woke early that would have been an interrupted 8 hours, needed for a long rest, so she only gets a short rest and then takes watch.
Not a huge deal, but it stops her from learning a new set of spells today.
It's not a problem at all really, I was just RPing in an FYI for the group :)
Killian urges the group to make haste but he will not leave stragglers. If need be he will pick up the heavier bags or take things to lighten the loads of the others.
To Lorival, " We will try to get a better place tonight if we can, and if things turn ugly stay behind me."
Scouting ahead w/Maisor Teclis seems to blend in w/the forest only coming visible now and again.

(As a Ranger my favored terrain is the forest that means I'm tracking that makes me extra smooth at this type of environment. My traveling party receives the same bonus)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Favored Terrain! Teclis for the win! Sweet.
"Looks like we're heading through the woods anyway." Teric's misgivings are quickly assuaged however, as Teclis seems to easily identify the easiest paths and game trails, and the party makes good time.
Teric will stick with the main group. Moving quietly and eyes always scanning for danger.

Breenie see the light as well in the distance.
Do you guys look around or scout? The light looks like it getting bigger. It’s stationery and not moving.
Lorival volunteered to take the last watch of the night, she would need a good long rest to be ready for any spell casting tomorrow.

"What do you think, Breenie?" Maisor whispers. "It doesn't look like it's moving."
OOC: What direction is the light? South?

Killian was going to take the last watch but he was sure that it was earlier than that when he was awaken.
Not making any sudden moves but putting his hand on his blade he turned to Breenie.
"What is it ? Trouble ?"

"Cut it out Brom..." Lorival groaned thinking for a moment she was back home and her younger brother was teasing her in her sleep.
"Oh, Breenie...sorry," she said rubbing her eyes, "what's up?"
