"You are right. If we want to learn from this, we have to witness things I did not in my first trip here, like these prayers."
Ekmong then bows his head, mimicking Urtren, as he wants to be more respectful from now on (for Lady Arle). Nonetheless, he can't resist the urge and whispers sideways to the half-orc: "I also felt the weight of that container change on me."
Once the group finishes their prayer, Ekmong will start following them whichever way they go, now completely convinced he is invisible.
Urtren will also stay with the group of priest. While convinced he is invisible, Urtren is not confident in how long and will try to keep partially covered when possible.
The five figures each place a hand beneath the container and lift it between them, the illuminating energies still emanating. The five make their way forward towards the path that leads beneath the chapel, the path the party headed through to find Ekmong originally. Following them, like shadows, the pair see that the chapel is pristine, though they have not seen any other people here save those five.
However, as they reach the lower levels, there is a single figure awaiting those five. However, unlike the other five, it is hard to determine the nature of this person; their features make them around the height of the elf, but their milky white skin and hair seems almost unnatural and it is difficult to determine the figure's gender. This sixth figure's inky black eyes look upon the five figures as it speaks with a fairly monotone voice.
Chosen of the Five, the hour draws near. Once you continue ahead, there is no turning back.
"We are ready." The five of them respond in unison. The figure raises its arms up, its long slender fingers pointed straight to the five. There is a divine light that radiates from its fingers.
Let your wounds be alleviated, and take your place within this tale.
The five seem to be almost zapped by this divine light before they seem to stand straighter, ready for whatever trails they have ahead.
Go, let your faith be tested. The fate of many lie in your hands.
The figure seems to glide along the floor out of their way as the five walk past.
"Ekmong, I feel we are suppose to help this with this coming trial. Stay ready and let us present ourselves as sent by the Solar Berrizhein to help them."
Urtren speaks is a low whisper eyeing the pale figure and keeping his distance from him.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Right!" Ekmong agrees with Urtren. "You should take point then, Urtren. I'm better suited to fight from a distance."
What they have just witnessed is all new to Ekmong. At this point in his original pass through the chapel he had simply hid out of view and waited patiently for silence to take over the chapel once again. Ekmong says so to Urtren, letting his half-orc companion know that the tiefling does not know what to expect ahead.
We follow the five champions into their trials ahead. As they pass, Ekmong looks over at the pale figure, trying to determine if it can see him and Urtren (perception: 9.)
(OOC: I don't think Ekmong has rolled in the double-digits yet when trying for a perception check.... sigh....)
"We were sent to be tested, if this is not our trial where must we go?" Urtren stands extremely awkwardly, an odd cross of respect and caution have him somewhere between bowing and a fighting stance.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Perhaps this creature of black and white is our trial then, Urtren. It is the only one who can see us after all."
Ekmong prepares for a fight by taking a few steps back and readying a shot of his crossbow, light in case the pale-skinned, void-eyed person does anything that would be considered harmful to either Urtren or Ekmong himself. (Roll in the spoiler below, just in case.)

The Guardian brandishes its twin blades as it slashes forward with them. Crescent-shaped energy waves fly out towards Ekmong and Urten (one each).
Spirit Blade vs. Ekmong: DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 8 force damage on a failure. Spirit Blade vs. Urten: DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 9 force damage on a failure.
Ekmong may use his reaction to unleash said crossbow bolt as his readied action.
Urtren's shoulders seem to relax some before he springs into action. He closes the distance between himself and The Guardian spinning his Flail up to speed before swinging it into contact with the Guardian.
Attack1: 22 Damage: 11 Attack2: 27 Damage: 7
(Didn't pick up on my Improved Critical 2 Total Damage for Attack2:13 -- I wish the damage dice rolled more like my first attack....)
Urten fails to avoid the slash of the blade, the mystical blow striking him (Urten: 54/59 HP) before he retaliates with flail, striking the guardian twice with well placed swings that bypass the twin blades. (Guardian: 18 damage.)
Ekmong manages to avoid the strike meant for him as he released three blasts of flame at the guardian. It manages to parry one, but another two blows strike it fiercely. (Guardian: 34 damage)
The Guardian looks to the pair.
This way is shut to you. Leave.
With the pair of gliding blades releasing a flurry of strikes, they don't appear to be striking at either of the pair. It becomes apparent after a second that each swing has left some form of afterimage that has filled the corridor around the group. While starting within the area or moving into it at the start of your turn, you take 2d8 force damage. You can retreat back (10 feet for Ekmong, 20 for Urten) to be out of the zone.
The Guardian then seems to adopt a parrying stance, ready for the next wave of attacks (i.e. Dodge action).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: Did that reaction attack in the spoiler box hit?)
Starting turn in the after image area: 12 force damage.
"Perhaps we are misunderstanding the figure. Should we cease our attack and seek an alternative route, Urtren?" Elmonk asks, while not quite yet ready to drop his guard. He then retreats another 30 feet and hurls a mote of fire at the apparition.
(Ah yes, I forgot to add that damage. Yes, the crossbow bolt struck the guardian.) (Guardian: 41 damage.)
Ekmong retreats out of the whirling blades (Ekmong: 21/33 HP) and hurls another mote of flame at the Guardian. It strikes through the flurry of blades and singes the guardian. (Guardian: 43 damage.)

The pair begin to follow the five when the pale figure holds their arm out to the side, barring their passage.
This is not your trial, apparitions. I will not let you pass.
The eyes look upon Ekmong and Urtren. They appear to be almost black voids that glare into eternity.
"We were sent to be tested, if this is not our trial where must we go?" Urtren stands extremely awkwardly, an odd cross of respect and caution have him somewhere between bowing and a fighting stance.

Crossbow, light vs. pale-skinned, void-eyed person: Attack: 19 Damage: 6 piercing.
The deep stare of the eyes look towards Ekmong.
You wish to enter by force? So be it.
The figure seems to brandish with its hands, a pair of shimmering blades seemingly made of a frosted glass appear.

(Didn't pick up on my Improved Critical 2 Total Damage for Attack2:13 -- I wish the damage dice rolled more like my first attack....)
Before his turn begins, Ekmong will use his reaction to let loose the bolt he had at the ready. (Hopefully it hits!)
DEX saving throw: 5 - takes no damage. Ekmong steps aside with a last minute effort, just after firing this crossbow.
Ekmong then casts Scorching Ray, aiming all three rays at the Guardian with a hint of doubt: "Are you then confirming that you are our trial?"
-> 1st ray: Attack: 12 Damage: 6 fire.
-> 2nd ray: Attack: 15 Damage: 10 fire.
-> 3rd ray: Attack: 11 Damage: 10 fire.
Ekmong will also move 30 feet backward. (How far away is he from the guardian then?)
Urten fails to avoid the slash of the blade, the mystical blow striking him (Urten: 54/59 HP) before he retaliates with flail, striking the guardian twice with well placed swings that bypass the twin blades. (Guardian: 18 damage.)

Once out of the blades he takes a deep breath to steady himself(Second Wind healing 12)
"It seems strange to fight an ally for our trial, our path led us here but we shouldn't focus on breaking down locked doors."
Bump?
Hey guys, with Poke being back in action would the two of you guys be interested in finishing up this campaign?
I enjoyed this campaign but am not in a place right now where I can add another game to what I currently am already managing.
Good luck out there.
