"We might be disturbing an old nest." Sandral mentions to the others, still attempting to use his fire to illuminate the way. "I say we keep moving until we find either somewhere for a good rest, or a way out."
"I am in agreement. That thing was not strong but the shell it had was rather annoying to pierce." Alton says as he moves to stand next to Sandral and the others.
Most of the spears were already broken, if not in bad condition, as Rinc inspects them but he managed to salvage eight spears.
Seeing that Rinc found something useful, Guras also scavenges the stack of armor. He dons a set of leather armor and shield. He also takes another look at the rack and found another spear laying at the bottom.
As Sandral sheds light at the other side of the cavern, the group sees two paths at the northern wall and one large tunnel at the east.
Stacks of crate can be seen between the two paths of the northern side containing pickaxes and ores.
As the group comes closer, Logum smelled something rotten coming at the farthest of the northern path.
Sandral can use Mending if asked to fix the spears for use.
"I see three potential passages we can take. Shall we start with the leftmost path and see where it goes?" Sandral draws his dagger. "We can carve an arrow to show which way we have tried. If you carve on the wall, carve on the right-hand side so if we need to trace back, keep the arrows to your left."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Logum retches a bit, "It smells like death down this way." He points down the second northern path. "Should we check out these small tunnels before we continue on?" Logum heads down the first northern passage about 100ft, to see if there is anything of interest.
Alton will follow the rest, pulling out a cloth to hold over his face at the smell of the area around them. "This is most unpleasant. Let us be away from here before I vomit."
After walking for a while, Logum reaches the eastern side of an abandoned mine.
Corpses of the ant-like creatures are scattered and a large, protruding rock sits at the center of the mine.
The western side of the mine is lined with coal and iron, and small carts filled to the brim can be seen along the walls leading to a path to the south with pickaxes left on the ground.
The dwarf's discerning eyes seems to have seen something tugging the corpse, moving it closer to the rock.
Moments later, an eye and large mouth appears from it, eating the corpse until there was nothing left. It returned to its unmoving state and appears to look like the same rock he saw earlier.

Logum will slink back to the group and tell them what he saw. "I don't know what that rock monster was but more mining equipment could mean a way out." He turns to the kobolds, "Does that sound right?"
Alton can only shrug before gripping his weapons when he hears the dwarf mention some kind of rock monster. "I do not know much about mines myself to really be sure."
"With our numbers and this new found equipment I have, we could take out that rock monster easily", Guras proudly raises his spear as he replies to Logum's suggestion.
Kirpo hits the eager warrior at the back of his head. Guras emits a small cry of pain as he rubs his newly formed bump.
"Don't be eager to fight just because you have a weapon. If what Logum said was true, those corpses shows the rock monster's strength.
Who in their right mind would live down here alongside these giant ants without something to repel them huh?"
Kirpo talks to the rest after scolding his fellow kobold.
"Unless we're sure we could use those mining equipment as a means to move forward, we should refrain on fighting the monster."

"Maybe a druid who has befriended the ants." Sandral suggests. "Regardless, I agree we shouldn't be seeking further foes while in this predicament. This is not the scenario I wanted, and who knows when we'll next bump into big blue."
"Then if we are all in agreement let us move on. I would much rather be gone before that oni has a chance to catch up eith us again. I am more the certsin it would be very bad for all of us if we encountered them soon." Alton says as he waits fir the rest of the party to agree.

Logum takes a deep breath, "I suppose I'll take a quick look down the smelly pathway." He points down the other northern path. "I'll be right back." Logum heads down the second northern passage about 100ft, to see if there is anything of interest.
As Logum walks closer to his destination, the stench becomes stronger as he arrives at the southern section of what he could think of as a mushroom farm.
Two large rows of elevated dirt can be seen filled with mushrooms on both sides and a wooden door can be seen at the opposite of the farm.
Logum also sees a halfway finished owlbear carcass surrounded by eight ant-like creatures sleeping at the ground, only this time they were much smaller compared to what they saw earlier.

Logum makes his way back taking some breaths of cleaner air before talking. "The stench is from fungus and decay. If I had to guess, it's a nursery for those ant things since there were some small ones in there."
Alton wrinkles his nose a bit at this information, even as he nods and shakes his head. His hand will tighten the grip on his shortsword as he turns to look back at the rest of the party to see what they feel about this new development. "I am in favor of finding a different way to get around more of those creatures. They may not seem all that hardy but their skin was rather hard to pierce through with my oh so fine sword and daggers."
"8 Smaller ant things or one larger rock creature. Was there a clean water source at either location? If we don't find it by tomorrow we will be in the same situation again. We may need to make a choice here. The larger ant thing was hard shelled but we handled it. Maybe these smaller ones will be easier to deal with. Better than the unknown rock beast. That is my choice."

Rinc will go to see if any of the spears are useable and grab a couple. As well he will investigate for any other weapons....

"Yes, we should keep moving, but also keep an eye out for water. I am down to 7 days rations, and didn't think to grab any water off our dead."
