Graxx says aloud what everyone else is thinking. It is time to call it a night. The walk back to the Leadstopper Residence is a quiet one. Not only are the streets empty, but the CRAPers are fairly exhausted themselves. Meals gone cold are left on the dinner table, a sign that Sagin has already gone to sleep himself. Though not as comforting as a warm meal would be, the crayfish stew is fulfilling nonetheless.
During supper, Obsbensends a message to Cassra, despite originally wanting to send one to Harper instead. Soon, she receives a reply. Surprisingly, in her sleepy voice, Cassra does not seem to stutter so much:
"Hhrump... yes... I had been recuperating myself. *yawn* ... You must seek this thief with minimum delay, please. See you in the morning. And, thank you."
After some discussion regarding Utar's store of miraculous powers, the Tormite offers to alleviate some of the wichtling's muscle ache. Although it takes quite the intense concentration from the cleric, the process is surprisingly swift.
Feeling better and well enough to engage in a ritual of her own, Obsben reserves another 70 minutes before bedtime to summon a new friend into CRAP membership. Sourpuss, the winged-cat is then immediately invited to take a nap.
Before everyone goes to their respective rooms (Obsben taking Doozey's), Utar shares two more suggestions. First, he is available for one more sending should the group find it necessary. Second, he thinks it might be a good idea to stop at the Brokengulf Estate and request an audience with Ekmong.
(OOC: Is there anything else you want to do before taking a long rest? At a minimum, let's get this other message out if indeed one is to be sent.)
Innately grateful to Sagin and his ability in the kitchen, Utar sits and munches through his cold stew. It's good but that barely registers for the half-Orc. It is fuel and its what his body needs rights now.
"We've one more message to put out. Who is it going to? I'd suggest we contact Ekmong first of all, avoid turning up unannounced and all tomorrow? Any other suggestions?"
Utar will wait for the rest of CRAP to decide, but drafts the following for Ekmong:
Ekmong. Series of thefts at Mantor's Library. More cult involvement. Thief meeting black dragon, we know location. Brokengulf interested? Any aid appreciated. Utar
(OOC I'll let whoever suggests another recipient draft the message to them.)
For a brief moment it looks as if Obsben almost grimaces at the very notion of the going to the estate. But then she's back to her usual placid seeming self and simply buries part of her face behind the back of Sourpuss' head. "Probably hard to contact them this late even with magic. So if you know of servant that works late that could relay the message, it wouldn't be bad idea either which way." She admits, or more accurately awkwardly puppets Sourpuss about to poorly make it seem as if they were doing the talking in her stead. "Though in the interest of time, I leave you guys to visiting Ekky, and instead hit up the library to make a formal report with'em on the progress... Plus I kinda need to get Basil back too anyhow."

Utar nods along. "I think Lord Ekmong would appreciate being told directly, but I think splitting our resources mightn't be a bag idea. If we catch this right, well be facing down a dragon! Do you think our favourite dockside storekeeper might have some scrolls or potions?"
"Oh, I'll be fine you two. But if you're that worry, you can feel free to join, Graxx." Obsben offers in compromise. "While we're at it, we can see what they know about dragons or even more about the marsh itself. Doubt it'll be much, but it never hurts to ask.... as for this favored place of yours, Utar. I can't remember if you lot told me much about it. But considering its even a question about it, I'm afraid we'll just have to make time to stop by there tomorrow... if you think we have it." She gives a little shrug.
"Otherwise, I've heard from the scribes and library folk that there are shops and such nearby that could provide some scrolls. Maybe... a certain elf lady has some more squirreled away that me and graxx and can pick up? If not, we can at least convince her to let us keep the fireball scroll I picked up below."

"Considering that this dragon is apparently much younger than Claugiyliamatar, I don't think that fighting it would be as demanding on resources." Neya make an inference. "But, yes, some preparation is needed. However, we are on a on a time limit considering that Ellison is on his way there, presently."
(OOC: So, no additional message by the looks of it, yes? Or am I misinterpreting the "appreciate being told directly" bit?)
The group discusses further late into the evening, eventually deciding to reach out to Ekmong in person. As no other wording is suggested, it seems Utar's offer to send a second message goes unfulfilled. The cleric memorizes his draft anyway, hoping to deliver a more extensive version of it at the Brokengulf Estate in the morrow.
With Graxx's and Obsben's help, the team soon builds a list of stops for the next day. In addition to the noble estate, CRAP plans to go the the Dockside Treasure pawn shop and return to Mantor's Library. Neya feels the group might be planning using a time budget they cannot afford, after all, Ellison is unlikely to simply wait for CRAP once he reaches Rythnax. Additionally, given the time of night they are going to bed, the party would surely need to sleep in more than just a bit should they want to let their exhausted muscles truly heal.
With those worrisome thoughts in their collective mind, the group finally calls it a night.
(OOC: You may all complete a Long Rest. Let me know what you want to do in the morning. If we need to backtrack a bit to actually send that second message after all, that's fine too. Separately, be sure to check the OOC chat, as it details the milestones of your brand new 9,800 experience points!)
(OOC - If no-one else wants to use the cast of sending, Utar will ping it off to Ekmong before turning in. Wondered if Obby would want to use the spell to contact Harper and what her message would be?)
(@MB: Obby understands the importance of 'phoning ahead' where it comes to nobles, so wouldn't coopt the message. The actual usefulness of her spells tends to vary anyways, so she can always call Harper in the morning herself.)
"All the more reason to divide and conquer, Neya. Though, might best to cut out the trip to the docks tho'... food for thought. But nighty night~"On that note, barring in others that might demand her attention, Obsben happily finds her corner to bed down for the night. But come the next morning she all but puts her foot down on sharing a tale, citing that despite the seeming silliness of her tales, the party couldn't deny feeling a little more robust and more full of energy. And she was not above punching below the belt in saying nonchalantly commenting on how Neya might not have fallen had she'd given that bit more time to help bolster the archer.
But if others are yet insistent in not wasting more than a few seconds, then she'd settle only for a far shorter tale about a sand guardian, guardian of the sand, and the only one to make Umberlee tremble to help bolster everyone to some degree at least a little.
Message to Harper:
"On my way to library. Updating Head Scribe on case. Clues further confirmed cult connections. Destination Twilight Marsh afterwards. Possibly facing Black Dragon. Be advised?"
Morning Prep: -Inspiring Leader(if given the time) on Utar, Graxx, Obsben, Neya, Sagin, and Sourpuss, granting 15 Temp HP. -Cast (6th level)Aid on Utar, Obsben, and Sourpuss, granting all 3 Plus 25 Max HP and healing that amount. -Cast (4th level)Aid on Graxx' Mount, Neya, and Graxx, granting 15 Max HP increase and healing that amount. -Cast (3rd level)Sending to contact Harper(see spoiler for message).
The next morning, Neya feels a slight thrumming in her fingers. Seems she's developing a deeper connection to the Weave. However, she'll have to explore this at a later time,. At present, she needs to help prepare for a fight against a dragon likely associated with the Cult.
She also re-attunes to the bracers of defense (it certainly made a difference more than a few times), if there's time.
Obsben concedes that a trip to the dockside pawn shop might be stretching their tight schedule a bit too much but reiterates her divide-and-conquer idea. Shortly thereafte, the halfling finally goes to bed. Neya and Graxx soon follow. Utar lingers for a bit longer and decides to send a message to Ekmong after all. He gets a curt response:
"An emergency, surely, given the lack of consideration for the hour. I won't promise anything, but come by in the morrow if you must."
AFTER THE LONG REST
Sagin's loud kitchen work fails to wake up the troop, given how exhausted they were and how late they went to bed. It is almost luncheon time before all CRAPers are awake, fed, and ready to leave the house again. That said, the beauty sleep looks good on the adventurers. Neya is surging with the power of the Weave, Utar has never felt closer to the teachings of Torm, Obsben has somehow found the time (maybe she can pause it?!) to write two brand new spells in her spellbook, and the prospect of defeating a dragon has painted Graxx's face with the promise of glory!
Before stepping outside, Obsben is sure to share an inspiring story and more than a few whimsical tales. Then, actually stepping outside, the group decides who is going where... [enter group decision here]
Obsben grins, and with her hand at her hips, proudly puffed out her chest a bit. "I know you'd come around eventually, and I certainly welcome the company... and the ride!"Sourpuss chuffed beside Obsben, causing her to deflate again and half-heartedly glare at the Tressym. "Oh don't you start now. Such a dirty little minded thing you are." She says, giving the cat a boop on the nose for good measure.
"Utar. Neya. Good luck. And if you can, see if you can weasel out a scroll or two more if you want. Though my advice would be not to push too too much. Those noble times -- even the good and well meaning ones, still got sticks lodged up at least part way up their posteriors. Think it comes with the job or something.... anyhow bye~"With that, Obby skips along after Graxx with her familiar fluttering along behind her.

"Good work. Twilight Marsh is treacherous. Constant rolling fog obscures much. Must remain at the Library for now. May have potion for you. Meet me."
The path between Leadstopper Residence and Mantor's Library has quickly become a well-traveled one for CRAP. This time around, Glory is the one galloping through it, carrying both Graxx and Obsben on her back, and being followed by Sourpuss. The warhorse's impressive physique catches the attention of many citizens walking about town in this late morning. Their stares linger longer then they would should there be no winged cat following the impressive equine specimen.
Arriving at the Library, the duo is swiftly ushered to meet with Cassra, who is waiting for them (Glory is left at the gate with an attendant.) "Wh-wh-what took you so long?" she asks, clearly expecting more urgency from the adventurers than what a leisurely late-morning arrival time suggests. She is not mad, just disappointed.
Neya had assured the other half of CRAP that they would get more information on Rythnax. Now that she stands at the gates of the Brokengulf Estate alongside Utar, it looks like the task will be a bit harder than expected. Half a dozen retainers at the gate behave as if they had not been informed of CRAP's expected arrival. "We'll have to check with the steward," one says. "He's holding meetings all morning," another adds. "Who drops by unannounced at a noble's quarters and expects to be attended to immediately? Are you the Lord Regent of Phaln?" a third one teases.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Utar bristles at the comments from the retainers but knows a visit to House Brokengulf, and to Lord Ekmong no less, is something that usually would attract careful diary management.
As it stands, if they can even get five minutes of his time, at least to make someone aware of the Cult's activities, it will be worth it.
"Can you please just ensure that he is aware we are here, if he cannot see us, we understand, but the matter we need to discuss is of great import to House Brokengulf and to Lord Ekmong."
Scrutinsing the retainers, does Utar get the impression that the speed of their work might be influenced by the amount of gold a petitioner might offer?
"Aww~ Did Basil keep you up all night or something? Because you're awfully grumpy today."Obsben replied while waiting for Graxx to take her off the horse, either blatantly misinterpeting Cassra's feelings or simply teasing her fellow halfling as always. She certainly giggled a bit afterwards, before letting her expression turn closer to the more serious. "Your basement had quite the nasty little monster residing within that burned section that took the piss 'n then some right out of us. So to say we were exhausted after all that would be putting it mildly."She eventually explained. "On a different note, where is Basil? I'm half-surprised you didn't have him come with you."
