Hello! This is Ultimate party. I want to create an ultimate BBEG fight, with the best level 20 characters. This will be a party of five, so only 5 people can participate at a time. If you like the sound of this and would like to join, please structure your first post here like this:
Race: [Put the race you would like to play here]
Class/Subclass [You class and subclass]
Multiclass: [Your secondary class, if you have one]
Background [Your background]
Backstory [Put your backstory here]
For backstory, you can make it however you want. Have your character on another plane, or from another reality altogether. As long as you are one of the standard races (so not a god or anything like that) then its fine. All you have to include are these key features: Life was normal, but then it was not. Something, whether it be an ancient artifact, vision forward in time, proficy from the gods, or something else (your choice) has told you of an apocalypse. Everything will die as the multiverse tree is cut from its roots, the aura of energy that allows things to exist, collapsing. You have one year, you are told, to prepare yourself to fight for your life, and for all others as well. You might have trained, or you might have already been all powerful. But one day, exactly a year from when you were informed of catastrophe, the ground begins to crack beneath you, like glass... (Your backstory should end with this ground cracking happening)
(Sorry if that all sounds slightly rushed, I'll probably edit it and fix it in the morning.)

Long live the dragon slayers, long live the spider guild, long live the forums.
I want you to know. You are going to lose. You are going to lose badly. You’re going to lose badly and it’s going to be awesome.
Okay, this sounds like a perfect opportunity to do something I've always wanted to do in this game... but before I put in my submission, is it okay to use the Ravenloft 'lineages' (in this case, Reborn)? I'm not sure if you would consider the lineages to be 'standard races' or not.
Recent Backstory:it was a crushing defeat.it was One year ago today. The party I was with thought that we knew who was in the cave, but we were wrong. Oh so very wrong. We approached from the mouth of the cave and turned the corner, ready for battle, but not ready for what faced us. We all fought bravely and yet succumbed to our wounds. only I survived. And that was only due to magical reincarnation. Now, I am no longer a Halfling but a cat. A Tabaxi I think they call them. And on top of that. I had a vision while I was dead; of a great catastrophe that would take place in One Year. By the gods, am I losing my mind? Can this be real? If it is real I do not have much time. must train my body, mind and spirit for I am only half way there to the peak (level 20). He trained relentlessly. He went on nearly impossible missions for the guild. But each time he came back a little wiser a little stronger. As he meditated this day, he thought I am as ready as I can be; Oh Disaster, Oh Calamity; Come At Me.
Backstory: Akkron was tired of his existence... over the centuries, his body has rotted away into little more than a dusty skeleton. He barely remembered what madness possessed him in his living days to seek out the immortal life of a lich. Surely soon his body would crack apart and be reduced to dust... He hoped that the day would come soon; then perhaps he could finally experience something akin to sleep again for the first time in several millennia.
One night, as he sat in his study reading through a set of ancient tomes, he found one that he knew hadn't been there before. Curious at this strange turn of events, he opened the unusual book. What he found inside was a terrible prophecy, heralding doom for the entire world in a year's time. The remaining pages of the mysterious tome were completely blank. At long last, the lich felt something again... surely, if the prophecy was true, this would be the perfect opportunity for him to go on one last great adventure, to face a challenge worthy of him... and, with any luck, his cursed existence might finally end. He could truly die, not as a monster hidden beneath the earth slowly being eaten by the ravages of time, but instead he could finish his existence with a great act of heroism.
For the next year, the lich sought out every scrap of knowledge he could find. Anything that might help him to stop the impending apocalypse. He sought out bards and adventurers who could tell him anything at all about the mystery at hand. He truly tested the limits of his magical powers again for the first time in centuries, all in preparation for this final great adventure. At last, the day came... and as he stood on the earth again, bathed in sunlight for the first time in centuries, Akkron suddenly realized that perhaps there were still some things worth living for. But his musings didn't last long, as the ground began to shake under him. With a thunderous crack, the earth shattered beneath the ancient lich.
(Note: mechanically, Akkron is a Reborn School of Necromancy wizard. I did not homebrew a 'lich' race; I think the Reborn lineage is vaguely defined enough as 'someone who is dead but also not' to work as a decent stand-in for a lich when combined with the traits of a high-level necromancer).
Backstory: Jinn is a seasoned explorer who frequently travels between realms helping others and playing music for those who haven't heard it before. While visiting the realm of the Raven Queen he is alerted by one of her seers that a large amount of souls would be swarming the realm of death due to an evet in the future. Now Jin waits patiently to meet this eldritch horror head on.
Backstory He was born in the astral plane and has been just drifting through it his whole life, life was peaceful, until he encountered a deity who told him of the coming apocalypse, then transported him to the material plane to train with his powers that he gained over time in the astral plane (those powers were unstable at the time [wild magic]), he moved into a small urban village, and kept training until he got better with his powers and strength. One year after the deity transported him to the material plane, he was training until he noted the ground begin to crack beneath him.
Class/Subclass: Paladin of Redemption 8 / Celestial Warlock 12
Background: Far Traveler
Backstory: She was once a succubus, but she had a change of heart and escaped to the mortal realm, studying among clergy and slowly redeeming herself through good deeds. Eventually she traveled to Heaven and was officially recognized as a member of their ranks. She was told to prepare for the coming apocalypse, and so has been honing her power.
Backstory: For eons he protected this place, and its people, from evil. He wore many bodies but his essence remained and so did his duty. When the elder gods revealed to him what was going to happen, he didn't waste time to try to prevent it. It was his job, after all, as a guardian of the realm. All his efforts however were fruitless, and as the time ran out, he knew there was no alternative to battle. Fortunately, he would not be facing this threat alone. He arrived at the end of a thunderbolt, ready to fight, as the ground began to crack under their feet.
Having retired centuries ago from adventuring, and being given a gift of an ageless body, Lorlin spent decades exploring the great libraries of the multiverse, learning more bits of arcana and history. It came as quite a shock when she pieced together many elements of a puzzle about the end times from a multitude of cultures- and realized there was only months to prepare. She spent her time wisely, and the fateful day has come. Gathered with other powerful Allies, she looks at the ground and sees the telltale cracks in reality spreading…
Wow, this did a lot better then I thought it would. a few notes:
Mister_Whisker, I haven't got Ravenloft's, so I'm going to need a few more details on the reborn.
shadowmasterg6, I would prefer it if you only muticlassed once (So two classes total) as it will make things simpler. Things will already be rather chaotic with 5 level 20 characters.
BKAce, you can use point buy, manually rolled or standard array, I don't mind.
I'll leave this open for another day, and then I'll choose 5 characters to join me for the adventure.

Okay, the easiest way I can get you the details on the Reborn is to send you the dnd5e.******* article: http://dnd5e.*******.com/reborn
Basically, the Reborn lineage is a catch-all for any PC that should be dead yet is still somehow walking around, and the closest thing 5e is willing to give us to an official undead race.
ohhhh, this sounds fun. A big bbeg battle. I got a fun tank build just for this.
Race: Goliath
Class/Subclass: Warlock 10 (Hexblade)
Multiclass: barbarian 10 (Ancestral Guardian)
Background: Cult Leader
Backstory: Corvan is the powerful leader of a new religion that follows the great beast. There have been trying times, dangerous times, wars fought against his people and faith and more. Whatever the case he has seen his people through trying times and now it seems they may be on the verge of being recognized as a new religion and no longer seen as a cult. Through blood, sweat, tears and much death the powerful leader has seen his people through it all. However, something else is happening. Something threatening their world and his hard fought right to believe what he wants. Something from outside his reality. The Great Beast senses it and has summoned him to deal with this threat. He will join several others to investigate and thoroughly destroy whatever may be a threat to their way of life. He has no fear of what it might be and only hopes they are a worthy adversary.

Backstory: Gedyr begain as a Royal guardsman to high elf royalty, rising to a position of command, and also being in charge of hunting down aggressively the enemies of the state. For years he has done this raising himself to the pinnacle of honor and professionalism. It was one point hunting down an enemy of the state, that he extracted a death bed confession . The apocalypse was coming. He tried to warn his leaders but was turned a deaf ear and cast out. Now, a master=less warrior, he searches alone for a way to stop whatever disaster is coming. He found little help or aid, and now finally finds himself alone on the day of prophecy, right as the ground beneath him begins to crack apart.
Just a quick aside: If I get in, I'm planning to avoid using massive swarms of skeletons and/or zombies since I know what a pain that would be to deal with (both for the DM and other players), and in-universe hiding behind a wall of minions wouldn't make much sense for a character who is borderline-suicidal. Akkron will probably use Summon Undead as an equally-flavorful but less annoying substitute for making massive undead hordes.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
