At this latest attack on it, both tentacles suddenly withdraw, leaving two major holes gushing sea water into the hull! Almost simultaneous slams happen as it seems the appendages are now hammering at the exterior of the ship, with obvious intent!
*Note* the holes are roughly a foot in diameter, and the impacts seem to occur about 5 feet towards the aft of the ship.

In reply to Rook's question, "I dunno what this creature is, just keep cutting with that slab of yours!"
"Abyss! We've got to patch this holes!" Bruz looks around for an emergency patch kit. Should he find one, he'll attempt to patch one of the hull breaches.
Sal looks to Carolinas, "Carolinas, can you use Mending? If we can grab the boards, I can create or destroy water to give you an opening for the boards to be placed back in."
He says, "No, I do not have access to Mending. It appears I'm more useful at driving this creature away. This is all pointless unless we drive it off—I'll head on deck!"
Carolinas runs to the top deck to see if he can make out what is attacking the ship or at least *where* the source of the tentacles are centered from.
Rook drops his sword and rushes halfway to the holes, looking back to see the sword disappear once again. He grabs any boards or anything of the sort he can and tries to help the others block, patch, or mend the holes. He's ready to summon his sword and do as he was told by Bruz if the tentacles enter the hull once again.
Bruz is able to find a repair kit and starts working on sealing one of the holes while the other arcs a fast stream into the cargo area! Combined efforts of him, Rook, the two guards and others enable them to stem the flood and reduce it to a more acceptable trickle, ready for repairs. Beyond a couple of other final thuds during this process, further down the sides of the ship, there are no indications that the attacker is still assaulting the vessel. Carolinas is unable to spot any disturbances in the water, but the ship is picking up speed from the wind and may be leaving the attacker behind. The Mates and many others are also on deck, searching the seas with weapons ready, but nothing comes to battle.
Down below during the repairs, the Captain left for a bit and returns with one of the young apprentices in tow. "Time to earn your keep, Frenzle. You said you had spells for this, correct?"
The young dwarf replies "Yes, sir! Right away!" and begins casting his magic, causing the wood to slowly seem to regrow back together, magically healing the wounds. After his work is complete, the Captain asks Bruz to recover the now unneeded repair parts and restock the emergency kits for the next time. "Good work, all of you! Glad to see your wages aren't for idle hands! Anyone know what attacked us?"

Sal will use Mending to assist with refusing the wood and ensuring no gaps are left. She will then use Create or Destroy Water with a couple of 1st level spell slots to help lower the flooding levels in the hold. "I didn't see what happened, but I think young Rook did, as he had his sword readied when I arrived."
It, it was some sort of tentacles. I don't know what it was. The sword seemed to hurt it a lot. Rook looks clueless as to how the magic of the sword helped, what the creature was, or anything else. He had hoped the Captain and more experienced men would know exactly what it was. At least they all seemed to be up for the conflict and knew what to do regarding the water in the ship.
"Aye, that was well fought, just barely enough to get the blood flowing. Ain't that right, friend!" Bruz says with a bellow, slapping the sailor that was injured jovially on the back and laughing. "Good on you as well, lad," he says to Rook, "I'm betting it was your sword that scared 'em off." After recovering and restocking the repair kits, Bruz takes a flask from its holster on his sword belt and takes a swig. To anyone looking at him when he does so, he says with a grin, "A nightcap is just the thing to put you back under after your heart was racing!"

The remaining water is dealt with in various ways, but the spells used by the cleric certainly did most of the work. People start to settle back into their night or watches as appropriate, with some not able to do either from the stress/shock of the event. For a few hours afterwards, Sal has her hands full with healing the majority of the crew that were injured during this 'battle', mostly from the impacts of the sudden stops. Nothing more occurs during the night and Sal is free to recover as she chooses the following day. The rest of the crew are expected to stay on schedule and are woken as needed, where needed, to perform their daily routine.

Rook returns to his bunk and looks at his stuff that has fallen all over the place. "Hmmm" He spends some time hanging his net over his bunk like a hammock, his shield in it like a huge platter. He piles all of his other junk in there and gives it a push, watching it sway back and forth more safely than the way he had all of his stuff hung before. He lies down on his bunk, hands behind his bed, satisfied with his work. His mind begins to wander towards more serious matters; Father, Mother, the sword, the Raven Queen, Chanteau, the tentacles attacking the ship. The lad stays awake longer than he should, but eventually passes out from exhaustion.
At the first waking bit of sun and noise in the morning Rook is up and out of bed like a dart. He rushes to put on his trousers and shirt and is on deck tending to the work he has been trained on thus far, even if it's just coiling rope, swabbing the deck, or tying things down. He wants the Captain and crew to know that he'll still be on top of his work despite all that has happened with him in the previous day or two. He'd prefer to shed all attention, really, but knows that may take time.
Sal will use the remainder of her spell slots on healing the crew, then tending to them in a more traditional way. Once everyone is patched up she will spend a bit of time praying to Mystra and ensuring all her equipment stored in the chest is still secure. She'll then, once dismissed, get some sleep for the day ahead.
Carolinas, mildly disappointed that he didn't get a look at the creature for his studies, sulks back to his bunk for the night, but not before congratulating those involved in the fight and repairs on a job well done.
Upon waking up, he tries his best to take on Sal's duties the following day since he knows she exerted herself plenty the previous night. He also tracks Rook down when appropriate to say, "Looks like you managed to conjure up that sword lad. Whatever that monster was, it certainly didn't like it!"

Not having an answer for him he helps describe the creature and watches for a few while the apprentice wizard repairs the ship with magic.
“I agree boy. That sword saved us quite a bit of damage. It’s no ordinary weapon. Judging by the stories I’ve heard today though, you already knew that.” He looks from Rook to Bruz and then the Captain. “It looks like the wizard has this well under control. The morning whistle will be blowin for’n you know it, I’m aim to get more sleep befor it does. Umberlee willin, maybe we all get a full nights sleep tomorrow. I’ll be makin a sacrifice today just to make sure.“
The next day at dawn, Sebastian wraps a small squart of cloth around 5 bits of silver. With a knife he slices his arm and lets some of his lifeblood drip onto the coins. Wrapping them ntightly as to not come out of the cloth he recites a familiar prayer befor dropping the sack into the ocean.

Carolinas' eyes widen at the taste of the squid. "What did you use to season this squid? It tastes amazing. Normally the chewiness of squid is a bit too much, but this is amazing."

The next two days pass without anything hazardous occurring. A few expected sea life sightings, but nothing attacks the ship or it's crew. By the fourth day, the crew has relaxed and gotten into the regular rhythm of ship board life. The new and old crew all working at their jobs effectively and cheerfully, with no issues other than regular inter-personal stuff. Rather boring, in fact. Anything the players would like to do for the three days that have so far passed uneventfully?

As things normalize in the ship, Sebastian corpses with his ship mates on the rigging crew. Using his vantage point to watch Rook’s progress carefully and to get a better understanding of the officers on deck and gain their measure.
One thing he will note, this has been some of the best ship’s meals he’s had at sea. That half-orc is a blessing from Umberlee herself.
Sal will continue her duties, ensuring that others are well and are eating correctly. She will also want to keep her tutoring of Rook up, trying to discover what spells he may be able to cast and help him understand the delicate movements that magic uses to be effective. She also will try and keep on the captain's good side, as she feels her stern demeanour in the prior scenarios may've felt undermining his authority slightly.
