Rook tries to work extra hard over these few days, doing all of his tasks and then some, asking Sal to teach him magic only when he is not busy working. He does not want any of the crew to resent him for special treatment or anything of the sort. He tries to befriend everyone on the ship and even his nervous, stuttering demeanor slowly starts to subside as he gets more comfortable with everyone.
Unfortunately Rook's magical study is probably going slowly through no fault of Sal or Carolinas. He doesn't seem to be able to produce any basic magic effects as one might from Prestidigitation or anything of the like. He does ask people to help him train with the sword however, and says it's ok to hit him with blunt weapons. They fashion a piece of leather over the edge of the sword so he doesn't hurt anyone else, either. During this training he is struck repeatedly and as the urge to protect himself becomes chief in his mind he is suddenly covered with a spectral frost, the one attacking him taking a few points of damage themselves for daring to strike at this defensive magic Armor of Agathys. Rook is shocked at first but is unable to reproduce this effect repeatedly. He does, however, muster it again during the next training session and once each session after that.
One night he tries to 'pray', for lack of a better word, and ask the avatar of Chauntea that he heard if his father is a good man and if he did bad deeds with the sword. It has been weighing on him heavily and knowing the answer to this could, he hoped, relieve him of that burden. He could, at worst, work to accept the truth of his father if he knew for sure.
Rook also approaches Bruz during these days. "Hey Bruz, you're a really good fighter. I was wondering, what if we find undead and I am too slow or not good enough yet to kill one? Would you save one for me of you are killing them all? I think I'm brave enough to fight, I think, although I've never seen undead.... .....but you are much better, that's all. I have to kill one so they don't hurt Mother, or whatever that voice was threatening to do!"
On the fifth day afternoon, the crew is alerted by the sounds of smashing wood in the hold as two huge figures - seemingly out of nowhere - have begun to randomly smash all wooden objects in the cargo bay, including walls and hull! As soon as they appeared, the guards began to fight them and someone ran up and alerted the Captain and the rest of the crew. Both guards are down now, as the creatures momentarily turned to attack them, then returned to smashing their way through the hold. Fragments of wood are all over the place, making the terrain Difficult for movement. The Captain is summoning everyone who can fight to assist, and two people can come down the stairs at a time. This means I also need a marching order, as the PCs will be allowed to be ahead of the group of 6 standard crew.
*Note* Roll initiative. The creatures have no weapons, but are using their fists to smash. Size is Large
*NOTE 2* Make sure to edit your character's advancement to XP. I'll address Bruz's 'experiment' after the battle
“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Bruz spends his days doing one of three things cooking, training, and reading the beverage stained manuscript he keeps with when he's training or in his cabin. Of course in combination with these three things, he also drinks occasionally from his flask, waterskin, or any other beverage container he happens to have on him. As his cooking duties gets more routine, he starts to add a pinch of some exotic spice from his magical pouch when he prepares dinner each day. On the third day, he happened to have done more drinking then cooking and became adventurous enough to add a spice he'd only heard of before, but had never tried nor knew any recipes for.

During one of his training sessions, Bruz notices Rook sparring with the some of the sailors and goes over to observe, noting with interest when he seems to manifest some sort of defensive spell. He begins to work himself into Rook's training sessions, hoping to train the lad in order to get a feel for his fighting style to develop a synergy to their martial techniques. While Bruz didn't know any sword forms that would help the boy wield his massive blade, he did instruct him in movement techniques and foot placement in order to give Rook the stable base from which to strike and defend from. It was during one such session when Rook asked him his questions, he responded, "Don't worry lad! You're already getting better at swinging that slab from the training the other sailors are putting you through and once we're done you'll be as quick as a snake on your feet!" If he noticed how odd the metaphor he choose was, the half-orc heartily laughed through it, "Plus, I'm sure Greybeard and the Blue Belle are gonna get you on top of that magic of your's. If we end up in a fight with some undead, you're probably gonna need to save some for me!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I was writing my previous post and didn't notice we had moved to the next encounter, here's my post for that. Bruz will be first in the marching order alongside whoever else wants to be upfront.
Bruz rushes to the hold from the galley sword belt strapped on, as he pulled a brace of throwing knives on across his chest. Seeing the large creatures smashing through the cargo, he yells, "Hey uglies, you'd better hope you didn't damage my barrels!"
"Thanks Bruz" says Rook in a bashful manner but with a smile on his face.
Rook is working on deck with a smile, enjoying being at sea for the first time with the wind and the salt and the sun beating down on his increasingly tan skin when trouble strikes again. He rushes down to help, eager as always to prove himself.
Sal will most likely have been in her quarters at this point, so may be a bit late to the party (I'm not going to be active this weekend, so perhaps delay me by a round or two). She wouldn't be in her armour, either, but would have grabbed her shield along with her holy symbol and healer's kit.
OOC - Ladies and gents, Tauii hasn't been online since the 9th. He and Alfie are no longer playing. I'm hoping Spirel shows up to play, but I am going to open up two slots for recruiting. I'll keep their characters in the campaign just in case, but I expect they'll not return. For the start of battle we are waiting on GreyCastle's post.

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Hearing the call to alarm, Sebastian uses a nearby rope to swing down from the rigging and sails to land onto the deck. Not having his bow, he draws his rapier and heads below deck wondering what in the seas name is going on now.

Carolinas eyes widen as he grabs a bit of tallow, a pinch of brimstone, and a dusting of powdered iron in his hand. They fizzle away and a large orb of fire appears right on the creatures.
If possible, Carolinas would center the orb so it hits both of them, but I'm not sure how far apart they are.
If they are not able to be hit simultaneously, he centers it on one and uses his bonus action to move it to the other. (Taking care to not burn the supplies or the hull with it)
Either way, he would stop the sphere on the closest one to him.
Edit: sorry I meant stop the sphere in *front* of the closest monster, since I couldn't hit both. Basically, putting the sphere between the monster and Carolinas in case it moved towards him.
The crackling of the burning flesh of the creature makes for nauseous fumes, but the sphere certainly affects it! It turns and begins trying to batter at the sphere, it's fists searing at each impact. The other creature continues it's slow rampage through the hold.
Flaming Sphere cannot be summoned on top of a target, only moved into one. "An unoccupied space". I am presuming the second part is your choice of which monster to burn. The two creatures are Large, but heading in different directions as they destroy. You have distracted one of them and it's own actions are causing additional damage.

Sebastian heads below decks quickly drawing his Rapier wondering what it could be now.
Arriving below, Sebastian curses under his breath for not having his bow. Calling forth power he marks the closest creature and moves in hoping that others were close behind. Seeing Carolina’s magic fire orb, he flanks around staying away from the flames and hoping it is distracted enough not to notice him.
Sal's knowledge proves useful as she recalls stories of creatures such as these. Definitely undead, they are Ogre Zombie , a formidable foe! The big question is why did they appear here, in the holds of the ship?
Sebastian's blow is a serious one, ripping open the side of the creature and letting half-rotted flesh spill outwards. The creature then turns to face him, fists high!
