Garth periodically walks away for fresh air, but when the are done he examines any clothing or equipment, wondering if it looks like the sort used by the people from the hut. He also tries to recall what he was told of the delegation. Would this composition of people fit? It seems to be a diverse group. He also asks for Aelin's sharp eyes to find any documents, seals, or other tell-tale signs that this was the delegation and not just another poor unfortunate group of travellers.
"Yeah, seems so impractical to me," Kalhiri raises an eyebrow. "Stone is so heavy and brittle, what a weird choice of material, one I've never seen before. I'd say these people have come a long way, they aren't from these lands. Might be that they are a delegation from some distant kingdom. We could return to Red Larch and find out if this really was the delegation and how many they were?" She takes identifying items from each one, a cut from the artisan's robes, a piece of the surcoat with the symbol, a small piece of stone armour, and a black feather. Then she begins to dig deeper holes to put them back to rest.
At a close inspection, the soldier in the coat and the artisan's clothes seem to be of the same make, most likely from Mirabar. The one in stone armor and the one in feathers have different makes from the other. You notice the white robes have a symbol on them an inverted triangle with three branching lines stemming above it. The stone armor also has a symbol, a triangle with a line in the center.
The Mirabar delegation left home two months ago, making its way across the Sword Coast and surrounding areas, and then went missing two tendays ago. The delegation contained merchants, acolytes, guards and city officials. You don't know, the exact race composition, but the city of Mirabar mainly contains dwarves and humans
„Somehow we’re missing something,“ Kalhiristates, „I think the delegation would have been larger than just these four and the one track that left from here. Maybe they were brought away airborne.“
(Does the state of decomposition of the corpses goes along with being 20 days dead?)
"Maybe these are just some of the delegation. Maybe the others were killed along the way, and/or buryied in different places." Fadi states while cleaning himself up after digging, getting ready to make his way back to Red Larch.
Garth looks at the graves, a sour expression on his face. "We need more information about the delegation: how many, what race, clothing etc. We can uncover dead bodies all day, but without that we won't know if we found 'em!"
"I think I agree with Garth here," Kalhiri states. "First, we must gather evidence that this really was the delegation and then we can confront the gargoyle monastery again and escalate the issue."
„where people have last seen them. Stone armour, a feathered cloak, these symbols, some of it must have been noticed by some folk. I‘d say we return to Red Larch and ask questions.“
(So do to some rescheduling, my Friday is less packed, a yesterday was the last time I consistently can't post on Friday!)
Kalhiri, to know when they started to decompose, that's require a better medicine roll
You set out on your trip back to Red Larch thinking the walk will be short. It should only take about half a day to complete. Then, a quarter of the way through, when the group is traveling over a particularly dense underbrush, a volley of three javelins launch at Garth, Kalhiri, and Pyre-Winder .
Javelin at Garth - Attack: 8 Damage: 5 Piercing Damage + 7 Piercing Damage from the surprise attack
Javelin at Kalhiri - Attack: 12 Damage: 5 Piercing Damage + 9 Piercing Damage from the surprise attack
Javelin at Pyre-Winder - Attack: 15 Damage: 4 Piercing Damage + 9 Piercing Damage from surprise attack
Three bugbears emerge from their hiding placing, grinning maliciously, and holding morningstars in their hand. Roll initiative
Unfortunately, the bodies were damaged while being buried, and you can't tell what happened before and after death.

Pyre-Winder shook his head, " A strange assortment of dead...has anyone seen anything like this stone armour before?"
"Yeah, seems so impractical to me," Kalhiri raises an eyebrow. "Stone is so heavy and brittle, what a weird choice of material, one I've never seen before. Fadi helps with digging the new graves, while agreeing that taking some identifying stuff back to Red Larch may be a way to gt more info.
Garth nods, "Aye. It's a strange land and we need more information."
(( @DM: What were we actually told about the delegation? Races? Numbers? Clothing? Nationalities etc? Any guards? ))

Pyre-Winder muses, " So it is likely the dwarf was part of the delegation."
" Wait, the stone armour....stone guardians....stone house......or am I seeing links where there aren't any?"
„Somehow we’re missing something,“ Kalhiri states, „I think the delegation would have been larger than just these four and the one track that left from here. Maybe they were brought away airborne.“

Pyre-Minder completes the re-burial, making sure its done properly this time. Then looks about...
" To the Tower, back to the stone house, keep looking....or head back to town."
" I'm of a mind to press the issue with our stony friends."
