"Ah, politics," Medqull nods understandingly. As the others introduce themselves, he offers, "Medqull, junior attaché to the Radiant Citadel for the Honrielent clan." He starts to extend his hand but glances around and seems to have second thoughts, opting instead for a low bow. "At your service."
"You are both to be commended for your loyalty to your families," he says to Kusa and Lamai, "blood thicker than water and all that, what? I shall be happy to offer my assistance. Not for the money," he hastens to add, though he doesn't exactly refuse it either, "but to honor that loyalty."
"Yarace, be a good chap and take our spoils back to my suite in the Citadel, why don't you? I may be delayed in returning; if I'm needed urgently come find me here."
"I'd simply love to accompany you and Mr Ravo, Miss Goldenorn, but if we are to divide our efforts as Miss Duanphen here suggests, perhaps she and I should talk to the Xungoon family while you visit the Tyenmo's? Two heads better than one as they say, though I'm not sure how that particular inequation extends to four..."
[Are we splitting the party? Would we still be close enough to come together if a scuffle breaks out?]
As an aside to Duanphen, hopefully without the shopkeepers hearing: "What can you tell us about the background to these families' strife?"and more loudly, "What's a 'mo phi'? Sounds like an important role."
" To be honest, not a lot....I know there has been unrest but little more than that. I spend most of my tim ein the hills assisting remote villages. Mo phi is......I'm not sure of the words....medium....exorcist....ghost-puncher?"
" In truth I'm little more than an apprentice currently.....I've had my arse handed to me a few times by a particularly unpleasant Phi Ka and I've had similar luck with most Pret. But they say defeat is an excellent teacher....so I'm hoping to get better at it. I have settled a few more peaceful Phi and I do a bit of grave tending to keep the peace."

"We should stick together," says Spotty. "Let's go to the noodle place first. Everyone likes noodles, right?"
" There is strength in numbers and though we must by needs visit one place first that does not imply that it has any more importance than the place we visit second.", she said somewhat loudly to no one in particular.
" I want to hear no more sniping and name calling or I'll be having words with certain Ancestors...."
Deception: 13 She's trying to pretend she has way more status among the local dead than she actually does.
( Not sure what exactly Duanphen would know or not know as a local, I'm basing most of this off the blurb for Salted Legacy and my own travels through Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia....not sure if I'm overstepping or not....)
"Ghost puncher? What a fun way to spend your time!" Mirri laughs. "I wonder if there will be any ghosts to punch at the noodle stall? Let's go and eat! -- oh, I mean... investigate!"
"You could investigate our stands, then ask the other vendors about the mystery. They usually turn their heads when we come to them about a scuffle between our families, though." Lamai points out.
"But they also don't let lose information to total strangers." Kusa states.
Its then Gammon pipes up, "They'll sometimes share information if you win a few market games. The ones tonight are by Madam Kulp, the Spicy Brothers, and Sid Squid, who are all influential vendors that could know some information about the recent mishaps!"
" First to Tyenmo Noodles! Then Seafood and onward. We'll do some investigating and eventually present our evidence to the Dyn Singh Merchant Collective who are in charge of the Night Market."
She tucked the rest of her leaves away, she needed a clear head for this sort of thing.
She scanned the area as they travelled through the Market towards the noodle stall....
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As they travel through the market towards the noodles, Mirri glances around at the stalls as they pass, making note of interesting food to investigate later, as well as anything untoward that catches her eye.
Ravo carefully walks with the group, doing his best to avoid colliding with people or stalls with his big body and large tail. While putting forth this effort, he notices Mirri looking all over.
"Yes... I'm looking to see what kinds of food are for sale here. It doesn't seem to make sense to me that a noodle stall and a seafood stall would be at daggers drawn, when they would be appealing to very different customers. There's no point in it. Are there any other seafood or noodle stalls that might be more direct competition, who might be interested in making sure the Xungoon and Tyenmo families are distracted and their shops fail?
"And also... I'm making a note of interesting places I want to eat when we finish this investigation! I love to taste new foods."
As the group walks to the noodle stall, Medqull makes small talk with the others, e.g. to Duanphen, "Ghost punching, eh? Fascinating, tell me, how do your fists not pass right through?"; to Mirri, "Oh you're a musician? I play a little myself, purely for my own edification of course, I'm not what you'd call a performer..."; etc.
Duanphen looks distractedly at Medqull, " Some are a little more corporeal than others.....but mostly I try to make sure it doesn't get to the punching stage.....especially as I haven't mastered some of the more effective techniques just yet...."
She was getting more than a little distracted by the sights, sounds and smells of the market and not having much luck with her investigations as they moved....
When you near the site of the noodle shop, Lamai gasps. The stall is in complete disarray. The noodle pots are upturned, rice flour is everywhere, and vegetables are scattered all over the ground. "It wasn't like this earlier.” Lamai says as she rushes over to the stand, pushing the noodle pots back over, and throwing the dirty vegetables into a waste can.
A half-orc shop owner selling fine leather wares responds to Duanphen's inquiry. "After Lamai left, chasing that kobold, I noticed some commotion, so I went to investigate. I watched the woks tip over and the vegetables fall out of their boxes, as if moved by some invisible force. Then I noticed something falling out of the sky.” He unfurls his fingers. Sitting on his palm are a couple persimmon peels. “I know for a fact that Tyenmo Noodle Bowl doesn’t use persimmons. Perhaps they were trying out a new recipe. The strange thing is that no vendors that I know of sell persimmons in the night market, and I know this market like the back of my hand.”
Lamai thanks Ravo for helping, and together they tidy the stand. She sighs, exasperated. “Those were my wares for the next couple of nights. I have to go buy them all over again.”

"Games? Oh, capital idea, just capital."

Duanphen looks around and heads to the nearest stall, " What happened over at the noodle stand? Did you see anyone causing this mess?"
Persuasion: 5
Ravo takes a long look at all the damage, and shakes his head ”Such a waste” and begins to assist in cleaning up as gently as he can.
“Seeing that… both Kusa and Lamai… weren’t here at the time. Maybe we can assume…. someone with ill intent is involved… like Duanphen said earlier”
A half-orc shop owner selling fine leather wares responds to Duanphen's inquiry. "After Lamai left, chasing that kobold, I noticed some commotion, so I went to investigate.
