In the bustle of rounding up the kids and others you are able to get aboard first and make for the belowdecks. You do spot Chester putting the final touches on a nice picnic for two in the dining area.
Parth walks in the front and messageBurt, "A visit to the Captain's room?"
„I can’t come with you, there’s only an exception for you in the alarm, but I can stay on the lookout and let you know the captain‘s whereabouts.“ Burt responds to Parth‘s message. Then he goes to help the captain with kids motivating them to ask the captain about his wildest stories in the jungle, he must have a few, Burt reasons.
Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.

Gil engaged Kress in some light conversation until he noted Chester was ready and then guided her in and turned and left quickly.
Captain is helping the halfling family mostly. Once all are aboard, the captain heads belowdecks briefly and the ship lurches to life, inexplicably moving away from shore and continuing its motion upstream. Then the captain is back, all smiles. At the suggestion of stories, he begins to regale the halfling kids with a tale of a grand chase through the jungle with a spider monkey which had apparently taken his money pouch.
Kress is led aboard to Chester’s plan and seems pleasantly surprised. You give them some space.
Gil, when you try to ask the captain what else needs doing, he impatiently waves a hand at you in a suppressive gesture and says, “Don’t interrupt, we’re getting to the good part of this story.”
Burt, meanwhile keeping check on the kids, listens to the captain's tale.

Entering the captain's cabin: It has a small bed, but the addition of a desk with drawers definitely cramps the room. There are several maps on the desk, compass & sextant which appear to be most useful as paperweights as you haven't seen the captain use them, inkpot and quill. In the desk drawers are parchments, another inkpot and quills, 2 money pouches that clink with coins, and a journal. A quick glance in the journal shows it's written in a language unknown to you. You're taken aback for a moment by the size of the bed, being sized for a child, but of course the captain is quite small in stature. But the bedding all appears unremarkable. There is a rug on the floor with simple 2-tone pattern of right angles. There are 3 large wooden masks hanging on the wall opposite the bed, and looking at them gives you an ominous uncomfortable feeling, the design of the masks are clearly intended to be intimidating or frightening.
Gil leaves the troublesome gnome in the Captains care and heads over to escort Kress back with a smile.

( Gil is completely oblivious to the Parth/Burt conspiracy stuff....but then he's oblivious to most things...)
Burt seems to have gotten the captain spun up telling stories to the guests. You sense he might be occupied for awhile.

So far so good, nothing out of the ordinary
