You can't see into the mist. You do see that there is still movement in the forest behind the party but nothing seems to be making its way towards you.

"Sorry about all this," Marley says softly to the unconscious Bon Bon as he drags him to a hiding spot just off the trail. He picks up the dagger and secures it to his pack where it's easy for everyone to get a good look at it, then readies his shortsword and rapier as he peers into the mist and listens intently.
You hide Bon Bon in a hollow and cover him up well. Then lead on into the mist.
The mist and thick and plays tricks on your mind. The visibility is only 10 feet so yall stick close ensuring to keep eachother in view.
Marley you swear you see companions from Expeditions you've taken in the past. (Passive insight saw through the low DC) you are able to stick to the path we'll but as the trees close in you feel something creeping up on yall. You quickly look around and see nothing. Looking back the path is gone. Turing to the party so are Sam and Crunchface. Maz looks at you with a worried look. Marley you blink then Maz is also gone....
Crunchface and Sam you follow Marley sticking close you see him glance about every now and again but are not sure what he is looking at. Then you see it. Just ahead on the path you see an individual from your past.
Crunchface it's a childhood friend from your days in the tribe.
Sam its a fellow marine from your first ship.
They both approach you with a smile and a friendly wave but say nothing

"What deviltry is this..." Marley mutters as he looks around in the mist anxiously.
Perhaps, he thinks for a moment, he is now crossing over into the spirit world. Did he actually die back there already, ironically killed by a mad rabbit after everything he'd been through? He squints as he peers back the way he came, to see if he can make out any sign of the others.
Sam the Marine speaks in response to your statement. "I am no trick. You said you had my back but where where you when i fell overboard in our kit. As I sank I wat he'd you stand there doing nothing."
Crunchface as you approach your friend speaks as well.. "Long time I see age does not become you. Come join me we raid the night. It will be like our youth"
Marley as you wrestle with your thoughts and emotions you hear voices in the mist they sound Like they stand before you but all you see is the outline of the near by trees
Crunchface is very much tempted to join him, but then the vivid memory of this person getting violently murderized in battle flashes up again and he shakes his head. “You’re not real.”
