A flicker of a smile crosses Max’s face as he finally takes in Bon Bon. It fades quickly though as he says “we should keep moving to the hut.” Then turns to continue toward Grandmother Willows hut.
Oh,... sorry about that. Was thinking I had more content over my mind. But... Sir... Maziara is correct we should get back to Grandmother Willows
The party presses on and reaches the hut by dinner were Grandmother Willow is waiting. The number of animals around his decreased but there is still a fair number of rabbits
Ah welcome back. I feel your quest was a fruitful one. Dis you also bring the berries?
Marley thankfully accepts the tea and sits back, blowing the steam off his mug before taking a tentative sip. Concerned about whatever is going on with Maz and his new dagger, he waits a moment to see what Maz might say in reply to Grandmother Willow.
Maz looks at the old lady, hesitating momentarily. He says nothing, but unsheathes the dagger and displays it. Close enough to see, but out of reach for anyone to try and touch.
Willow takes a look. After a bit her eyes narrow and she looks away quickly.
"Put it away dear and don't pull it out again. Thank you for taking on that burden. I can't do anything for you though you will need to see a high Cleric in one if the big cities if it does not consume you first.
You have berries from the tree yes? I'll need 8 of them to brew the tea that unlocks your fairly magic if you still wish for it. The other 2 I would save. Eat them when you feel you are about to break."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Marley also gives any berries he has to Grandmother Willow. He considers asking her if she could tell him more about the dagger, but decides to wait until a moment when Maz isn't within earshot, if that opportunity arises.
As he drinks his tea, he thinks back on all he's seen of the dagger so far and ponders if he's read or heard of anything like this before.
With the 22 you think you remember a story of a vampire or demon who was trapped in a dagger.
The creature kidnapped children for years in the central lands. No matter how many times it was killed it returned the next night. Eventually a hero trapped the creature in a dagger and tossed it into a bottomless pit. Or so the story you where told goes.
Grandmother Willow makes a drink from the berries and hands everyone a shot. Drinking it you get a warm feeling over your body then a feeling like someone hit you in the face with a baseball bat. But it don't taste bad, not great though.
Willow: he he he. Intense is it not. You all have now gained a bit of control over the fairy mark.
DM: Sam and Marley can now do a disarming strike once per long rest.
Disarming Attack
When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to disarm the target, forcing it to drop one item of your choice that it's holding. You add the superiority die to the attack's damage roll, and the target must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, it drops the object you choose. The object lands at its feet.
I'm adding the die is a d6 and the target can't pick uo its own weapon
Maz and Crunchface can cast the Levitate spell once per long rest without the need for a spell slot.
Levitate
One creature or loose object of your choice that you can see within range rises vertically, up to 20 feet, and remains suspended there for the duration. The spell can levitate a target that weighs up to 500 pounds. An unwilling creature that succeeds on a Constitution saving throw is unaffected.
The target can move only by pushing or pulling against a fixed object or surface within reach (such as a wall or a ceiling), which allows it to move as if it were climbing. You can change the target's altitude by up to 20 feet in either direction on your turn. If you are the target, you can move up or down as part of your move. Otherwise, you can use your action to move the target, which must remain within the spell's range.
When the spell ends, the target floats gently to the ground if it is still aloft.
Marley grins in appreciation, thanking Grandmother Willow repeatedly. If possible he tries to find a moment to share with Sam and Crunch the story he remembered, without Maz being able to hear.
(I'm going to do a bit of narrative might take a few posts need my computer)
The rest of the meal passes as the group fills in grandmother willow on the events of the day. She asks a few pointed questions to clear up any details but most listens as she drinks her tea.
At the end of the telling she sits for a moment.
Mmm seems to me the fates have drawed you into this eras defining moment.....she winks at Sam. Well I guess I owe you young ins some information.
Yes I am well was a member of the conclave, a sub group that worshiped Gaia the Mother.
Willow: Yes Mother. I'm sure you know of the 5. These are the new gods that watch over us. But before the sacrifice of Gaia to give birth to them. The old gods ruled, back in the time before the first age.
There was IO the god of gods who gave rise to First gods. EOS, Luna, and Void. EOS and Luna give birth to Gaia. The happiness of the 3 made void jealous. For you see all things come out of the void and to the void they shall return.
This simmering rage reached its peak after Gaia created the Earth. The myths say that Void rose up to distroy the earth but Gaia stood in defense of her creation and EOS and Luna in defense of her.
In rhe end only Void defeated EOS and Luna. Ready to destroy Gaia she gave up her life for her second creation, the 5. The 5 banded together and push back Void banishing him to the space between spaces.
Why does this matter.... well the conclave is made up of 5 subgroups that warships and seeks the power of the first gods. The silver circle represents void. My guess is they found a way to tap into his energy for what purpose I could only guess. Because Void is the only first god believed still exist the group was the largest in the conclave.
Willow trails off for a moment seemingly lost in thought..
"Well... we had to knock you out, something seemed to uhh... have control of you." Marley answers Bon Bon slowly as he returns his dagger to him.
He watches with concern as Maz returns from the dead wolf and seems about to say something but hesitates and then remains silent.

She pours a few cups of tea.
Sit down tell me what you saw

Maz puts the blade away, avoiding eye contact with the rest of the group.
(Which one of us is carrying the berries?)
Crunchface will give her any that he has.
If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.

Maz would have quietly drank his shot, then returned the cup to a nearby table before listening into the conversation from Grandmother Willow.
“Mother.” Crunchface says with conviction.
