The temple is shaped in a hexagon with each of the gods having a wall.
First thing g that happens is when Maz pulls out the dagger a paladin walks over and in a hushed tone chastise him telling him to put it away or leave.
A prist walks over to cruchface and Marley.
We don't get your kind much in here. You look troubled how man I be of service?
"Greetings," Marley says with a bow, then lowers his voice before continuing. "Yes... we were wondering..." he glances towards Maz. "If there might be anyone here who could help remove a curse?" He lowers his voice even more so it's not much more than a whisper. "Or perhaps...what might be a possession or something of that sort?"
Our services do include greater restoration which can remove a curse for 200 gold. As for the possession it depends. If his body is possessed we can do an exorcism. But ifs an item they are attuned. We can sever the link but can't do anything about the item and. Our temple won't take possession of any cursed items.
Maz looks at the man, his hand goes toward the dagger. As his hands come to grip with it his eyes squint slightly. His mouth would be seen moving slightly as if he were talking but no words could come out.
After a moment he addresses the priest.
“Apologies sir but this dagger stays with me. Only… me.” his words are sharp and clear.
With the voice silenced, Maz feels himself again. Some peace and joy fill him. He presses his hand over the priests hand, holding it to ground himself. He wants to conquer this, but he’s scared he may not be strong enough in his own.
“help me be rid of this burden. Please.” He begs quietly.
The priest nods the slowly reaches for the dagger.
Maz there seems to be a struggle in your mind as the holy magics combat the sprit of the dagger.
The priest grabs the dagger and backs away. He instantly starts aging. Unable to drop the dagger he falls backwards now an old man.
The others priest and plaidan in the temple rush to his aid. Working together they wrestle the dagger from his hand knocking it to the floor.
The priest then start chanting spells healing the man. The plaidan turns on you maz drawing his sword.
As he moves to kill you the priest who's life force is being restored shouts
WAIT! It's not his fault. Help me up.
The plaidan stops mid swing and sheathing his sword walks over to the dagger. Using a bowl he scoops it up. But the dagger disappears and reappears in your hand Maz. The voice returning.
In Maz's mind.
Don't let that happen again or I will start feeding on you!
The now less old priest walks over to Maz waving for the others to join.
Your dagger is cursed and soul bound to you. You will need to dominate the spirit Inside inorder to break the bond. This thing is pouring its soul into you for some reason. Breaking the bond period might kill you anyways if it is able to pour too much of itself into you. There is hope though. At the high temple in Norend is the master of the order of 5. He is the most powerful Cleric in the world is is a favored soul of each of the 5 including Death. If anyone can help you break the curse it's him. Master Silvertalon.
The sunken look returns to Maz as he struggles with the demon within. He nods to the priest and remembers the name. Silvertalon. Then he backs away toward the door to wait for the others.
Marley's jaw drops as he watches the events unfold, instinctively moving up with Crunch to help defend Maz, until he sees the paladin stand down. He takes a step back with his hand on his sword hilt, then scowls as the grim reality of the priest's words descends. Watching Maz's reaction with concern, he slowly nods as he lets out a heavy sigh.
(DM: is there anything else you want to do here? The afternoon is free to do what yall want. Can't join a caravan till the taverns later after dark. Points if interest in town are the market, arena, and port)
Crunch goes over to look at the alters for no reason at all.
If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
"Thank you Grandmother Willow" Sam says
D&D since 1984
Sam also enters and looks around before taking a seat.
D&D since 1984
Grandmother Willow gives you all a hug that lasts a little too long
Marley joins Crunch by the altars, waiting to see if any clerics are around.

The priest leans into the conspiracy.

"I believe it is an item," Marley continues in his barely audible tone. He adds, "the dagger..." with a sight head nod towards Maz.
Maz gives the paladin a hostile look but then quickly gives a small smile before calmly sheathing the dagger to wait for his friends.
Mmm...
The priest looks at Maz and then walks over.
May I see that dagger young man. You see I am a collector of rare weapons and I've seen none like it.
The priest holds out his hand

The priest is taken aback for a moment then he stares you in the eyes for a long moment.
It is already starting to take control isn't. Mmmm
The priest bows. My friend you must fight it for control. Don't let it consume you. Don't worry I won't want the dagger.
He will reach out for Maz's shoulder.
If you let him touch you.
Stay strong conquer it. You feel a energy go though you and the voices in your head are silent for a moment.

As the Paladin starts advancing with the sword Crunchface moves over to interpose himself in front of Maz, even though the pally backs off.
