Shadow will see his allies being tended to and use one of his 50 foot ropes and a knife to cut sections and tie up the surrendered enemies. He will move to K first and use medicine check to stabilize before he ties him up. (I removed a rope from my inventory). This will take at least 5 rounds to complete tying them up.

"Our next best opportunity to find out who took the child is with this person so we can't let him die"
Oreus takes a deep breath seeing that eventually victory is theirs.
Then he gets to help his friend SHadow to tie up the slaver: during doing this he also
- get the slaver almost naked saying to Shadow
There was something unnatural in the his great skill of fighting... I don't want he plays some nasty tricks when he wakes up if he has some magic item..
-THEN, once Kazmojen is tied up, the paladin applies (although unwillingly) his last divine effort and cures the slaver for 1HP
(I mean, he realises if it must be done before he expires his last breath while they are tieing him)
He gets veeeery close to the slaver face, looking him in the eye:
you are barely alive, don't do anything stupid and shut up
tiyng also his mouth
If there is still time, he collects the slaver's belongings: to check them later in due time
His Dwarven Urgrosh (Oreus looks at it with an interested eye.)
3 Handaxes (there's a fourth one on the floor somewhere)
A pouch of gold (180gp when you get around to counting)
A pouch of platinum (50pp that the Beholder paid for Terrem)
And 3 keys
Then Shadow ties up the rest of the hobgoblins.
After the darkness disappears Maple and Sondor will escort the other hobgoblin into the room, followed by a still shaking Jenner.
Fario and Rellahne recover and get up from the ground a little bit worse for wear.
Krylscar seeing that the fighting is over calls out to Rellahne "My lady, did you come all this way to rescue us? There are still about a half dozen or so other prisoners in the cells"
The 3 terrified children that are also chained to the slave post are stunned by the turn of events. But eye you all will a mixture of hope and terror.
(Ok that is an oversight on the books part. The 3 keys are to something else. So I am going to say that you find 2 set of keys. The first being the set of 3 mentioned above. The 2nd set is also a set of 3 keys, one of which opens the shackles.)
Oreus asks the kids if any of them is called Deakon, Evekyn, Lucinda, and Terrem (the kids missing from the orphanage)
Ooc: regarding the clue in the parchment in the campaign handout... Is the slaver a human or what?
Plenty of other things to do (Dm to decide if we must role them one by one)
- tie prisoners
- see if there is anyone else in the pit where the hobgoblins came out and in general search this main room
- search the rooms to set any other slave free, free the stupid cook
- use their same shackles to walk the prisoner outside: to the first watch post and explain to them
- get the slave back to the orphanage?! I don't know : what if the kidnapping was an inside job? I would ask the church to host them and the day after we kindly ask you what happened
- to the authorities: don't remember if there is a reward but I would not complain. Anyway all the things necessary to start a trial. If they let us interrogate the prisoner even better
- sell the prisoner belongings and see if they had strange or magical items, divide loot etc
Shadow then wants to ask who the beholder and woman were that took the child. And where do you think they went. We will free the other slaves then take our prisoners to the surface to turn over to the authorities

Rellahne is walking with the group but still looking weary and weak. Her focus still isn't entirely there but hearing the somewhat familiar voice of Krylscar shakes her up if just a little. "Oh... Hi... It's nice to meet you. You got it right, that's our plan... We hope to get the other prisoners out as well, but one thing at a time."
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been in a state of disarray all week and currently don't have access to the book. 😀 Hopefully I will be back on my game tomorrow or Sunday.
As Oreus is removing Kazmojen's armor, he can see that the slaver is fiendish mix of dwarf and something else. Maybe a troll?
After he is finished helping Shadow tieing up the slaver he thakes the keys and frees the children and Krylscar. Asking the children if they are Deakon, Evekyn, Lucinda, and Terrem, they answer that they are Deakon, Evekyn, Lucinda. And Terrem was the boy that that many eyed monster took with him.
Shadow questions Kazmojen about the Beholder and the woman with the Beholder. Howeaver Kazmojen refuses to answer any questions about the Beholder, and says that he has never seen the woman before.
Maple goes to retrieve Gryffon the cook. And upon her return offers to lead everyone to the cells. Upon everyone's agreement she head through the door to the west revealing...
An arched stone bridge connects to a ten-foot-wide causeway that spans one wall of a great cavern. Fused with the rough-hewn cavern walls are smooth walls of dull black stone, some with doors and windows set into them. Two nine-foot-tall statues carved from white marble stand in alcoves on each side of a reinforced wooden door set deep into the west wall. The statues depict a male and female dwarf clad in armor, each of which brandishes an urgosh. The cavern plunges thirty feet below the level of the causeway, ending in a pool of still, black water.
Turning south she leads you down the southern hallway and opens the door which opens into a room that has Moss pallets cover five malachite slabs that protrude from the walls of this rank chamber. A somewhat mistreated wooden table and four chairs stand in the middle of the room. A rack of javelins occupies the northeast corner.
There are two doors one leading west and the other goes southeast. Maple starts heading to the western door.
Everyone make a DC 18 perception check. (Wow first NPC makes it.)
Fario's perception 18
Fario hears a low moan of pain coming frombthe southeastern door. He relays the information to Shadow and let's him decide to investigate or not.
Maple replies "Yes like Krylscar said there are several prisoners in the cell blocks"
(See post #3105 at the top of the page. Also I think someone suggested leaving the hobgoblins locked up in the cells. I may be wrong about that though. )
Shadow decides to investigate to room to the southeast, opening the door he sees...
Ghastly furnishings decorate this hellishly lit chamber. Glowing-hot coals fill the black belly of a six-foot-diameter iron oven that dominates the room. Three branding irons lie half-immersed in the coals. Two iron cages hang from the ceiling on either side of the oven: one holds an enormous beetle with red-glowing glands, and the other holds a pile of bones and skulls. The latter cage hangs by a narrow window that looks out into a dark cavern. Against the south wall, a haggard woman sits in a tall, iron-wrought chair, metal clamps around her wrists, ankles, and neck.
(I am moving along pretty fast, to try to finish the chapter. If I do something for one of you that you don't think you would do, or do differently let me know. If possible I will change it. )
Oreus move over and using the keys he found on Kazmojen sets her free.
Shadow and Oreus explain that you are here to rescue all the captured slaves and you have defeated Kazmojen and his Hobgoblins.
She introduces herself as Coryston Pike, a retired adventurer who got tricked into captivating.
She picks up one of the hot branding irons and agrees to help you free the other.
As you all move into the other room and she sees the tied up Zarkad, she attacks the hobgoblin with the Branding Iron Attack: 16 Damage: 0 fire damage. The attack misses and both Shadow and Oreus move to intercept her, telling her that you want him alive. She finally sees the reasoning behind the words, but spits in his face before withdrawing.
Finally shadow turns to Maple and tells her to lead on.
Maple opens the western door and you all see the cell blocks. There are three prisoners in three different cells.
Deven Myrzal is a male human who in terrified of Zarkad and the other hobgoblins
Irruth Marcadi isca female human who is curled upbin a ball, in the back of her cell. Some has to go in and carry her out of the cell, but once she realizes that you are here to free her, she is a little bit more manageable.
Jasper Drundlesputvis a elderly gnome who is constantly mumbling. His cell walls are covered in mathematical formulas that he has carved with a sharp stone.
Maple thinks that is all the current prisoners but can't be sure. She points to the northern part of the wall and says there is a room back there with all the equipment that they take from us prisoners. I've seen them open it, but I don't know how myself.
(If anyone is interested give me a DC 18 investigation check with advantage.
Both Oreus and Shadow search the northern wall, and Shadow finds the hidden door and figures out how to open it.
The small 20 x 20 foot room beyond if full of bundled outfits, vests, cloaks, belts, slippers, and boot. Several old and rusty weapons. But there are a few goodies stashed away.
A small suit of studded leather armor (Maple claims that)
A bloodstained chain shirt. (Belongs to Krylscar)
A blood-encrusted short sword (Maple's again. After buckling it on Maple returns the dagger to Rellahne with her thanks.)
Two Longswords (Krylscar claims one, the other is up for grabs. )
At this point you need to decide if you are heading back to Cauldron or exploring the rest of Malachite Fortess. Are you locking the prisoner up here in the cells? If so all of them or are you taking Kazmojen and/or Zarkad with you to the surface?
Shadow will take the rope and caltrops. We should Head back to surface town if we have all the prisoners freed. Take the captives with us to turn over to the authorities.
