The gift shop clerk notices Windarë and calls over, “Two for one on the miniature mining picks. Your kids will love them! All proceeds go to the museum endowment fund.”
"I must say I haven't met any curator quite as uncaring about their institution's finances Ms. Arkin. First you send me off doing your work with the promise of answering all my questions and then I barely sit down before you send me off again. Only because I am obliged to I will attend this gala but rest assured you will not be bothered by me or my client again."Luci says, promptly leaving the curator's office, not looking back as he makes his way towards the cafés, incredulous over the unimaginable attitude of the curator.
Alda Arkin makes no further comment as Lucifer storms out of her office. She can be heard scratching some notes in her ledger as her door closes and locks with a quiet click.
As Luci heads towards the stairs he would be able to see Windarë browsing at the gift shops.
"Ah, what a kind recommendation," Windarë says to the shop clerk. "Undortunately, I have no children."
"Oh, there you are Mr. Morningstar. The others have already departed. Shall we join them?"
She gives another glance to the clerk. "We'll be back this evening. Perhaps I will find a suitable momento then. Thank you so much for your help." She then starts to proceed out of the museum.
"Departed? Good for them, I suppose the staff made sure they all felt quite unwelcome, let's leave this dreary place, the insolence I have had to endure, unbelievable." Luci says, still annoyed about how the curator treated him. "Anyway, Ms. Treynori, I'm sure you had better luck in acquiring information about this place my dear." He continues with a charming smile, ready to follow the half-elven scholar.
"Of course, it is a museum after all. There are things to learn everywhere here," she says, keeping her comments innocuous for now. She steps outside and across the Sage's Quill. Once inside she would let Luci and the others know of all the areas she detected magic upstairs. "I can always keep a look out later when we go in as well. Plus things might have changed."
You all gather once again at the Sage’s Quill to compare notes. Dr. Dannell stands off to the side looking unsure whether she should participate in this meeting. The grandfather clock now reads 3:22.
“Do we even need attend the gala?” Dubh asks once everyone has been caught up with everyone else. “We know a way into the basement. From there we could make our way upstairs after the gala is over. Steal the stone and then exit the same way…”
"Good to see you all made it out from that dreary place." Luci says, finding a seat with the others as he and Windarë enters the Sage's Quill. "I think I should attend the gala at least, I might still find out something useful about what kind of security we will be facing."He continues with a tired smile. "But if you already have a full plan perhaps you can expand on it a tad bit, starting with how we get into the basement without setting off any alarms." He says to Dubh in a polite tone.
“The secret exit I used to get out of the basement should also work for entering, no?” Dubh responds. “If it’s alarmed none seemed to go off when I esca… left that way.”
“Obviously I can’t say what is Magic’s, or even locked, from the basement to the stone but that’s why we have a crew, no?” He continues. “Would have been nice going in with a full fledged plan but at least with an entry point we can improvise and brute force it from there?”
"I was sort of hoping brute force would not be necessary in this particular heist, and so I think would our client." Luci says, glancing over at the good doctor. "Anyway, we would need to find a way to enter into the vault still, and that part I would very much prefer not to improvise."
Joorin looks quizzically over at Dr. Dannell. "You did not sound supremely confident in your calculation. I believe you said, 'Around Midnight'? Do we know any more beyond that?"
He looks over the map laid infront of them on the table...scowling. "The only valuable information I gathered is that this appears to be a kind of breakroom for the guards. I guess Dubh discovered that as well if the way to and from the basement is there?
After hours I would imagine that is likely where a guard stays when he is not actively making rounds. While its a way in I wonder about it being a smooth way in. Dr. Dannell, you attempted to break in before you said? Do you know how many guards work after close?
What if we took an entirely different approach? Dr. Dannell saw the Mirkstone once at excavation. Maybe we could craft a replica and switch it out during the gala? Easier to hide in a crowd than in an empty museum when you are the only person there."

Windarë nods at Joorin's idea. "It may be easier to hide in a crowd. But it's also much harder to stay unobserved." She looks about the table. "For me, I'd want to see the place where the gem is held before comitting to do it during the gala."
“Well, umm, yes, I think…” Dr. Dannell stutters. Then, finding her confidence, she adds, “Yes, midnight. The texts are clear about it. Some hypothesize that the eldrich energy within the egg will begin to have physical effects on the surrounding area prior to it hatching, but unfortunately that has never been confirmed. If you witness anything like that do take note of it. Maybe we can publish a paper when this is all over,” she muses.
“As for crafting a replica, I haven’t seen the stone since it has been cleaned and prepared for exhibit. Even had I, I’m not confident in my ability to recall it in enough detail.”
“I didn’t break in per say,” she continues, “I used my now-revoked university credentials to gain access and then I attempted to simply walk out with the stone in my bag,” she looks fondly at the bag of holding. “It did not go to plan,” she adds without elaborating. “To the best of my knowledge, the number of guards is consistent, day and night.”
"It seems to me we would need more information in order to devise a sound plan. I at least will attend the gala. While there I would hopefully be able to see when the gem is brought forth from and put back into the vault, which will likely give me an idea of the their security measures. If Ms. Treynori would be so kind as to come along perhaps we will know if there are any more magical traps and alarms at the Vault. The curate will likely attend much of the gala which will give Ms. Ker and Mr. Dhiabal an excellent opportunity to visit her office to find out more about security and quite possibly other interesting things about the museum. As the gala is two hours there will be time to investigate and then plan and quite possibly also execute that plan during the gala I believe."Luci says, looking around at the others in the crew, then turning to the good doctor. "Do you have any idea on how much resources will be put into finding out what happened to the egg once they realize it is gone? Should we expect Varkenbluff's entire City Watch coming after us?" He asks with a curious smile.

"Aah, Ms. Treynori, a sight for sore eyes, shall we join the others upstairs?" Luci says with a relieved smile as he notices the scholarly half-elf.

“I’m open to notes on my plan if anyone has better,” Dubh assures and crosses his arms, leans back and waits…
" If we wait til after the gala how much time exactly does that give us before ugly, messy death hatches."

“Investigate the office during the gala,” Dubh confirms. “Got it.”
