Braxiel, a little upset at not having found the answers he wanted, and concerned about the safety of himself and the book he is carrying, walks carefully in the direction the stranger from last night had indicated. He knew where it was. Perhaps there he will find some information, he wonders.
Coltinar, Paladin, and R4G3 easily find the Mason´s Tower located In the Dancing Shadows District on the East side of the Middle City, and after twenty minutes of walking, you see Braxiel coming from the opposite side. Coincidentally, you all arrive almost at the same time in front of the Tower. Signs in the lobby indicate that Broken Anvil is on the top floor.
After the surprise of meeting like that, you greet each other and take the elevator to go up to the top floor. As soon as the elevator door opens, you see a sign above the beautiful double wood door confirming that the establishment belongs to House Ghallanda. Inside you find a small and comfortable tavern and another discrete sign in lights: The Broken Anvil.
"Good morning, Sirs! table for 4? We are in between breakfast and lunch, but we still can serve our special options on the menu", a kind halfling matron welcoming you. "Please, find a table"
While you are looking around the place, you see Rylia and Brynn in a table on the left, looking in your direction.
"Braxiel, How was the rest of your evening", asks Brother Coltinar? "Let's go see if our other companions are here yet."
"My Deacon has warned me that the book you have been studying will need to be handed over to the Watch or he has advised me to let you know that it would be wise to do so. Perhaps you've been able to learn valuable information from it."
Brother Coltinar, "Praise be Dol Arrah..There they are." Brother Coltinar motions the quartet over to their new friends.
"Rylia and Brynn, can we join you? I hope you were able to get out of the rain and get a good night's sleep?"
Brother Coltinar pauses to see if they are welcome to sit and join them and provide them a chance to reply.
Rylia can't help but grin at Coltinar's seemingly innocent question. "Well, I suppose I rested well. And certainly feel better this morning than last night. Can't really say if we got out of the rain. Before being nearly killed we had not."
She pauses to take a bite from a large cinnamon roll on her plate. "Mmm. You guys really need to try some of this. Food here's amazing! Isn't it Bryn?" She playfully nudges the man.
Again though Rylia becomes more serious. "Evidently another assassin warforge wanted some journal. Attacked us to get it and ran off with Bryn's pack. We're not sure how we got here. Or even how we're alive! But it is good to be alive!"
Bryn nods as Rylia recounts their near-death encounter last night, and adds when she finishes, "Please tell me you still have the journal! The other items in the dead professor's pouch were taken with my pack, but that seemed important..."
Once he is assured the journal remains safely within the group's possession, he tells them what he knows about their benefactor, and perhaps the one meeting them. "It seems we were rescued and brough here by a Mr. Skyryn, and perhaps his associate Cleric Norah. They paid for our room and this meal, and reserved a private room for this morning."
Rylia shakes her head at Paladin. "Don't worry about it. For whatever reason we survived, and we'll make sure to be safer going forward. Today we just celebrate being alive!" Her tone is enthusiastic, and as she finishes speaking she digs back into her stack of waffles covered with fruit, yogurt, granola, and honey. "The only real victim was my viol. Broken at the neck. I'm gonna need to find one today if Bryn and I are going to do our performance tonight."
Arr follows Coltinar and relies on his ability to get them to the right place.
"Another assassin?" asks Arr surprised to hear of the second attack. "This journal must be really important to someone. Perhaps it really is best if we hand it over to the Watch. And I agree, perhaps best we stay together. Stick together and have strength in numbers. Right, Brother Coltinar?"

Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Brother Coltinar gasps and lowers his voice, "Pray tell, By the Light of Dol Arrah..this is not good. From now on we all stay together. Agreed?. There are it seems, larger concerns here than we initially thought. There are more skilled adversaries we need to protect ourselves from and for that we need to stay together. We were told to come here to meet someone. I just hope this person is on our side."
Brother Coltinar check if he recalls whether the Broken Anvil is in the nice part of the city or less desirable or if it has a reputation of being used by a less than stellar organization; Thieve's guild, hired assassins, Mercenaries or the like. Figured I'd roll all three for the DM to use whichever one fits.
"Let me have a look at your viol,"Arr says to Rylia when she mentions her broken instrument. "Perhaps I can fix it? I would still need the right tools. Though, I could have a look if it can be repaired at all."
(Would proficiency in Tinker's Tools allow R4G3 to repair the viol - with or without check - or is it beyond mundane repair?)

"I think this inn is part of House Ghallanda," Rylia says to Coltinar. "I'm guessing I owe my life to the person we're meeting. Or associates of his. So there's a good chance he's at least on my side!" she says, sounding a little bit defensive. She then turns to R4G3. "Ok. The neck is broken. So the strings are probably done for. And who knows how much the body is banged up." She starts to reach for the small case that normally carries her viol. "Strings I can fix of course, but the rest... I just don't know." She takes out the instrument and lifts it up for the warforged to look at, then holds it out for him to take. "You have to be careful too, because I need it to still sound good. So it can't be messed with too much."
(Check to see if she knows anything about House Ghallanda - History: 16)
Arr elaborates on the various options to be transparent at what are the consequences of their repair efforts, “If only the neck is broken, we can try to reinforce it where it is broken and it would probably work until you find a replacement. If you would prefer to keep this one, we can try and replace the broken neck, but we need to dismantle part of the instrument and it could take further damage in the process. If that works, though, afterwards it could be as good as new. That all assumes that really only the neck is broken, I fear that if the resonance chamber got a serious hit, we won’t be able to do much about it.”

Arr checks the violin. They never toched a violin before, they thought! Some memories came back to they... maybe they´ve seen stringed instruments in their wartime. But they didn't go to war... At least, they don't remember going... Rylia's voice brings they back... The fissure seems to be extensive. Perhaps with the right tools and a place where they could fix the violin the repair could be done. "If I had some repair magic, this would be so much easier" Arr thinks!
“We think we could repair it, with the right tools and a workshop,” Arr contemplates while handling the viol. While they never had hold such an instrument, they needed to repair a many things while living on Sharn’s streets and taking odd jobs for a dubious blacksmith. More than once were they required to find a fix to some broken furniture, tool or equipment and this shouldn’t be too hard either. “We could go to a blacksmith, woodcarver or some repair shop to ask for access to their tools for a short time. With magic it could be fixed easily, but unless any of you here have access to that, it would be more costly than renting the tools.”

Rylia remember that she has seen several taverns and inns bearing the Ghallanda sigil and knows that, besides other things, this house runs taverns and inns throughout Khorvaire, including the best ones. She knows that House Ghallanda is a halfling dragonmarked house found throughout Khorvaire. Ghallanda is one of the few dragonmarked houses that are not involved with some form of arms dealing or soldiering; instead, Ghallanda are Eberron's best hosts dealing in food and shelter. Their symbol feature a blink dog, that is known to come to the aid of those in need. House Ghallanda allow their customers to spend time at their enclaves, much like a hotel. At the signing of the Treaty of Thronehold, Ghallanda secured concessions freeing their enclaves from the local law, effectively turning them into individual nations. Ghallanda holds no quarrel with their customers, so long as they pay. Anyone who is wanted can escape the law by visiting a Ghallanda enclave.
Ghallanda also can contribute to war efforts by supplying soldiers with magically created food and shelter.
Coltinar is looking around trying to get any clue as to why they are in this place when he sees, across the room, the halfling who welcomed them chatting with the young male halfling. She seems disturbed. She looks in the direction of the table where the group is joined and her gaze locks with Coltinar's.
She starts walking towards them with hurried steps. She cames to the table with an almost distressed:
"Oh! Holy Boldrey! Now I realize that you are supposed to be the Lady´s guests, aren´t you! Of course! Sorry about that! I will let her know that you are already here, immediately", the halfling said that and quickly moved away.
Bryn's eyebrows raise in a questioning manner. "Now there's a Lady involved? What have we gotten ourselves into?"He grins, but his subtle shift in posture and focus indicate that he is more on edge than a moment before.
Arr listens up in alarm at the halfling’s distress, but relaxes again when the halfling hurries away. Then they return Rylia her viol, “We will be on the lookout for an opportunity to repair it.”

As the halfling mentions 'The Lady', Rylia turns her attention to Bryn. "I do wonder what all is going on. Now who do you suppose this Lady is? You think she's some grand noblewoman?
