The bolt sinks into the rust monster with a sharp cracking sound; its dying wheeze is reminiscent of the metallic scrape that gears make as they wind down. The creature slowly lowers to the ground as the corroded bolt also falls, and finally, it lies still.

Locke looked back, somewhat concerned that the ooze was right on Gordon. His magic armor had protected him from the rust monsters, but he wasn't sure how it would fare against an entity that could squeeze in through the gaps. Trying to think quickly, the merchant refocused his active spell onto the ooze, then channeled his patron's magic to throw a black lightning blast at it, hoping to give his ally an opening. "Gordon, get out of there!"

Rizo will run towards Gordon and Locke with Moni in tow. On his way he shoots a fire bolt at the pudding. “Come with me, I think we can outrun it easily” he says to Gordon and Locke and instructs Moni to teleport them 15 feet farther away from the ooze.
Gordon lashes out at the ooze, his fists splattering off portions that lay dormant. It's not until he turns to run that he feels the stinging in his knuckles, and realizes that some of the ooze's fluids sank between the gaps in his gauntlets, causing chemical burns. (( OOC: Gordon takes a total of 8 acid damage from his successful melee attacks. ))
Ignoring the pain, the fighter next attempts to put as much distance between him and the creature as he can, and tries to dodge the ooze's attack as he does.

(( Rizo is up! ))
The loxodon runs up towards his allies, while hurling more magical fire at the black pudding (and catching a bit of it on fire.) Closing in, he instructs his wildfire spirit to teleport them all away, and in the blink of an eye (and a flash of flame) the entire group finds itself even further from the ooze.
(( OOC: I'll presume Rizo and Moni ran to R-7 then teleported from there. ))
Quivering again before moving, possibly in response to Gordon's successful retreat, the ooze pursues, turning the corpses of the rust monsters into gunk as it flows slowly yet steadily towards the grounded members of the party.
(( OOC: Alright, the black pudding is right on your tails, but between the party's minimum movement of 30 feet, Moni's teleportation, and Ruaccek's flight speed, everyone should be able to get clear away from the creature after a full minute of dashing. (That should leave a large enough gap that the ooze can't locate you directly, and unless you just stopped after that, it shouldn't get to you even if it kept going the same direction.) To speed things up, I'm going to just presume Rizo either teleports or disengages to avoid an opportunity attack. ))
The adventurers finally take their opportunity to flee from the ooze, maintaining a steady (if hurried) pace as they put space between themselves and the creature. After a moment, it's clear they've lost the ooze, and they relax as they resume their normal hike through the woods.
After just another moment of hiking, and considering whether to stop for a rest at some point, the adventurers smell smoke, and food. They step past a few more trees and spot a small campfire on a cleared area of ground, with a few logs pushed close. On the logs sit a wizened man in bright blue robes and a pointed hat with a wide brim, laughing along with two much younger men in green robes of a similar cut and style (but no hats.) The laughter stops as they turn to the party upon their approach, all three faces blank at first.
Rizo & Ruaccek have high enough passive Insight to get a specific feel of the situation:
It appears to be a mage and two of his acolytes, possibly adventurers themselves. You both get the distinct impression that you're unwelcome in their presence, and that they just don't like you or your companions.
The older man then smiles, and turns to look at the two younger men, who smile knowingly in response. He turns back to the group and speaks:
"So, what have we here? A bird fellow, a talking elephant, some fancy dandy, and whatever this man is," He waves towards Gordon, grinning broadly. "You folk look like you've been through the meat grinder! What are you doing out here, now? Don't you know that this forest will eat incompetents like you alive and crap you out its backside with nary a care?"
The younger men look away and snicker at this, then look back, all smiles.
"I'd do the generous thing and offer you some food, but we just ate our last bit," the old man continues, his smile widening. "But hey, you haven't even told us who you are yet! And what are you doing out here, anyways?"
Ruaccek says, "Kaw...You are an intelligent being. Perhaps we can find mutual ground to share conversation? My belief is that people can usually work together or find common ground. I would like to see us find that in friendship or we can part ways at least not as enemies."
Ruaccek is ready for action should it come to that. I’m willing to listen to every side of an argument before I make my own judgment.
The aarakocra flies up as the two younger men snicker, while the older man simply watches the ascent and smirks.
"Conversation?! Why would we want conversation with any of you lot? Besides, I can just imagine what that would be like with you." The old man then spreads his arms wide, with his hands tilted down, as if miming wings, all while mimicking Ruaccek's sounds: "Kaw! Kaw! Ka-Kaaaaaw!"
At that the two younger men lose it completely, almost falling off their logs in hearty laughter. The old man resumes his normal posture, continuing to smile as he shakes his head and looks at the grounded party members. "Pathetic lot! I could just sic Jorfinn here onto you, even HE'D have enough gumption to take you all out!"
The dark-haired younger man responds to the challenge: "Me?! I bet even little Clayton back at the academy could do THIS lot in! Probably a few cantrips would do it!" At that, the younger men again find themselves laughing uproariously while the older man just stares at the party, smiling the whole time.

Gordon is getting more and more indignant at the suggestion that he is weak. He understands that picking a fight for no reason is probable a bad idea, especially in his current injured state, but his pride is wounded. He uses second wind (10 hp), and walks up to the old man. Being a half-goliath, Gordon is quite tall (over 7 foot) and he towers over the man on the log. He does his best to appear powerful and threatening, hoping that the man will back down.

The two younger men seem to waver at Gordon's approach; but then they look towards the old man, and seeing his unperturbed smile seems to restore their confidence. "What's the matter with you?" the man asks. "Cat got your tongue? Or did all your sustenance go to your muscles instead of your brain?"
Another couple of snickers.
"And you still haven't told us your names!" jumps in the fair-haired younger man. "How rude! Here, let me message for Clayton!" The youth waves his hands, then cups his hand to his mouth as he calls out, "Clayton! Heeeeey, Clayton! C'mon out to the forest, mate, we've got some target practice for ya!" The other youth can barely contain his giggling while his companion calls for their understudy.
@Rizo:
Your passive Arcana is high enough to notice that the wave the young man gave didn't actually seem to be a somatic component, or even an arcane gesture at all; it's as if he was just flapping his hand and acting as if he were casting a spell. But your Insight suggests that it's not that he couldn't cast it if he wanted; the entire thing seems to be a brilliant joke to him, with your party being the butt of it.
By now Locke was beginning to get annoyed at these adventurers--if that was what they even were. "Just who do these people think they are," he wondered, as he approached beside Gordon. "Look here,"he began, glaring at the three of them, "I don't think there's any need to be rude here. We can just pass on, but we'd appreciate the courtesy of just the slightest bit of respect."
At his words, the younger men again howl with laughter. "We'd appreciate the courtesy of just the slightest bit of respect!" the dark-haired one repeats in a mockingly high voice before laughing again.
"Sure," grins the old man, "here's a bit of respect for you!"With that, he pulls out a wand with his left hand and waves it in an arcane manner, causing a thin cloud of smoke to waft over the party... a crude, raunchy-smelling smoke, accompanied by a flatulent sound that causes the younger ones to fall off their logs in their hysterics. At this point, the old man himself can't help but chuckle at the party's involuntary facial reactions to the smell.
Rizo grins at the three men from behind Gordon, "You're a funny lot. Pity that you'd finished whatever you had. I'd have loved to get a bite, too." He takes a step forward and reaches out to shake the old man's hand, "Well, met! Name's Clayton. Should I know you? Who are you?"
The three apparent magicians pause for a second, as if unsure how to proceed as Rizo introduces himself. Then they all together immediately start into invective:
"You stupid twit! Clayton's our new acolyte, who are you trying to fool?! Sod off!" "Really? Your actual name is Clayton? Just how gullible do you think we are? Is this a game to you?!" "So now we need to listen to your silly jokes? What are you even doing here? Who do you think you are?!"
Then Ruaccek intervenes. The men all look at each other, and the younger ones fall down laughing again; even the old man chuckles.
"He thinks we're fey!" he says, smirking as he points at the aarakocra. "I'm telling you, their ignorance is only matched by their weakness! Even this would-be giant would probably fall over in a stiff breeze!" His finger swings towards Gordon as he adds, "What was it, a tyrannosaurus rex jumped you?"
"No, a house cat!" came the response, followed by more laughter.
