Ruaccek rolls with advantage and anyone within 30 ft of him will also.
(( OOC: If that's from his sword, the advantage on initiative only applies to Ruaccek; everyone around him gets immunity to being surprised, though. ))

Does Gordon know if his magical plate armor would be effected by corrosion? That would completely change how he reacts to the encounter.

(( OOC: Unfortunately, Gordon's Nature check simply reassures him that the creature is indeed an ooze. EDIT: Sorry, misunderstood the breadth of the question. As a tier 2 adventurer, I'd say that it's common knowledge for Gordon that magic items of any sort usually do NOT get destroyed or damaged by the vast majority of monster powers/effects. ))

The aarakocra flies higher, then targets the rust monster closest to him. Both crossbow bolts pierce the creature's exoskeleton, prompting a metallic-sounding squeal and clearly causing serious damage to it. That's when Ruaccek notices slight plumes of smoke erupt from the impact sites before quickly dissipating. The ferrous portions of each bolt quickly corrode to flakes of rust, and the rest of the bolts' pieces fall to the ground as the wounded creature continues its advance!
(( Locke is up! ))
The merchant grimaced as he looked between the approaching creatures. The ooze bothered him; he didn't like the idea of punching into it, and having it flow around his arm and envelope him. It would probably be best dealt with via ranged attacks... and he was still lacking a bit in that area. But then he saw the rust monster's effect on Ruaccek's bolts. The choice was obvious.
"Stay back from the rust monsters! I'll take them!" he yelled to his companions as he focused his ki for speed and rushed forward toward the one that his ally had struck. As he approached without slowing, he leapt up at the last second and wound his fist back, attempting to land an all-out punch to the creature's head just as he landed.
BONUS: Spend 1 ki to activate Step of the Wind and Dash toward creature #2 MOVE: Close in the remaining distance, specifically to N-11 ACTION: Unarmed attack to the target * Falling Haymaker - Attack: 11, Mundane Bludgeoning Damage: 8 (add 2 on crit)
Locke's fist flew towards the rust monster, but he wasn't fast enough; the creature managed to skitter back just enough that the merchant only hit air before landing and taking up another defensive stance.
Great. Gordon will go for the rust monster, reasoning that is it difficult to grapple an ooze. He punches it twice, then goes for a grapple. (The only nonmagical metal he has on him is some goblin swords that he throws at enemies, so he's not worried about the corrosion.)
Attack: 16 Damage: 13
Attack: 18 Damage: 12
Grapple: 14

Sure. I'll action surge (I never use that anyway).

Rizo yells, “Careful faith the ooze and lightning and slashing weapons, it splits and multiplies when hit with those.” Then he moves 30 feet east (U23) and instructs Moni to teleport them 15 feet NE (W21 or X20, if diagonal movement counts normal). Before the teleport he fires a Fire Bolt at the nearest injured rust monster.
Ruaccek using his keen eyesight and the interaction with the rust monster also curious of the Gelatinous creature will search his mind for clues to its biology.
Gordon dashes towards the insectoid rust monster; he sets up a punching combo, but to his surprise his fist cracks the exoskeleton, causing the creature to collapse into a gooey mess on the first strike!
(( Rizo is up! ))
Meanwhile, the loxodon sprints across the graveyard, firing off his cantrip just before his wildfire spirit teleports them to a less visible location behind a headstone. Unfortunately, he just barely sees the bolt of flame miss before he secures his new position.
(( OOC: Ruaccek's roll only reaffirms the common knowledge about both creatures--that rust monsters are known to eat metal, and that the black slimy thing is likely an ooze. ))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The remaining rust monsters seem to pause for a second, their pincers and mouths making movements that look like they're trying to sniff the air. Ignoring Locke almost entirely, they instead swarm Gordon, attacking and going for his weapons and armor.
RM #1: Attempts to bite Gordon * Bite - Attack: 15, Mundane Piercing Damage: 5 (or 10 on crit) (on the off chance this edit corrupts the roll, it was a 4) RM #3: Attempts to corrode and consume one of Gordon's goblin swords * Antennae - Gordon must make a DC 11 DEX Save to avoid having the item be corroded RM #4: Attempts to corrode and consume Gordon's plate armor * Antennae - The monster connects but it has no effect on the armor
As Gordon and Locke raced towards the rust monsters, the black ooze continued undulating forward, only pausing momentarily as it closed in on the party, as if assessing which direction to head in next.
The aarakocra casts his spell, then aims with his crossbow. The glowing bolt flies toward its target like a beam of light, sinking in deep and causing a chittering squeal. Once again, the ferrous portions of the bolt corrode away, while the rest fall to the ground.
(( Locke is up! ))
"Hey!" snapped Locke, trying to get the monsters' attention, "don't ignore me!" He refocused his still-active spell, planted his foot, and spun into a roundhouse towards the next creature.
BONUS: Move his Hex onto Rust Monster #4, targeting it's Strength checks ACTION: Unarmed attack on the same creature * Roundhouse Kick - Attack: 18, Damage: 4 mundane bludgeoning + 2 necrotic (add 5 + 2 on crit)
(( OOC: If that's from his sword, the advantage on initiative only applies to Ruaccek; everyone around him gets immunity to being surprised, though. ))
