When Hunin mentions her name, Gendan steps forward. When Kanai urges Hunin to fight, she says, “He said he’s not into fist fights. I’m up for a bout.” She draws her longsword and takes a fighting stance.
Kanai seems excited at this prospect. "Are you the party's strongest warrior? I will gladly take you on. Two rules: No killing and no moving out of the arena. We will fight until one of us either gets knocked out or is pushed out of the arena." Saying this, he takes a chalk and draws a square that is 70 sq.ft. "But what about the other guy? Runt I think was his name. (Kanai doesn't know who Runt is) How well can he fight?"
DM: Waiting to see if Runt (or anyone else) wants to join in on the fight before starting. For now, Gendan, roll initiative.

Gendan definitely believes she is the strongest warrior in the party, but that sparring defeat to Elsara still haunts her. She tosses her hood back, revealing her full head of fiery red, shoulder-length hair. As she glares at him with her pitch black gaze, she taunts, “Let’s just say I’ll be your worst nightmare.”
Kanai looks at Gendan's fighting stance and blade and says, "Are you a practitioner of the Kensei technique? I don't remember either my idol or Seraph using that technique. It is still a very valid technique though and it is necessary to learn the ultimate technique."
Gendan turns to Hunin and says,"I don't know what this clown is talking about: Kensei... I just kill things." Then back to Kanai, "All I Kensei [can say] is that you're about to be in a world of hurt!" Purple energy starts to spark between her fingers.

Kanai looks at the purple energy and says, "Interesting. It seems that your Ki is purple. This may be destiny after all since Seraph had purple ki. Before he saved the world, purple Ki was considered to be a sign of an impure soul. My master didn't believe that of course. He had a white ki, a sign of a pure and enlightened soul, detached from worldly pleasures and dedicated only to bettering oneself and the pursuit of the mastery of their craft. He was so cool!"
At this point, it seems like this guy doesn't really think there is any viable method of fighting besides the way of the monk. His speech also raises other questions such as who is this Seraph and who is Kanai's Master?
Hunin seeing Gendan Rush forward will grab the orb and begin his incantation: the orb turns a light blue color and looks as if to be freezing part of Hunins hand but then Hunin finishes the incantation and thrusts his hands towards Kanai.

DM: Both of you got long rests since leaving Camenose. Gendan has no problem casting Hex.
Kanai skillfully dodges both attacks. "Wow! You guys are strong! I need to go all out for this." Kanai then takes off his robe opting to fight topless... for some reason.
He leaps forward to the center of the arena and launches an aimed kick at Gendan's direction. Hit: 14 Dmg: 4
Bonus Action: Unarmed Strike Hit: 18 Dmg: 5
Gendan successfully moves so that the kick hits the bulk of her armor and does no damage to her. Having the first attack not do much, Kanai does a flip attempting to deliver a brutal kick to Gendan's chin. Gendan easily dodges the attack however.

Gendan effortlessly dodges the blow. Kanai keeps his momentum and then attacks again with a second kick followed by a punch as he gains a sudden burst of speed in his movement and his body glows white.

Gendan blocks the punch with her shield but is taken by surprise as the kick hits her on the side of her knees. Extra damage: 1
Gendan's STR save: 20 (DC13)
Gendan feels her legs try to fold inward and buckle under her own weight but she resists it and stands tall.

(Have we had a short rest since chasing those guys around Camenose?) If so, Gendan places a Hex on Kanai.
She fires an Eldritch Blast at him for Attack: 10 Damage: 3 force and 3 necrotic (add necrotic damage only if she was allowed to do a Hex).
She then rushes forward to the center of the arena.
