Gendan stays near Val, her shield is up towards the broken door and her fingers flicker with purple energy as she hears the clattering around the corner.
Val gets right next to the door and claps his hands together. A thunderous boom echoes through the halls and the door slams shut; creaking and cracking as top rusted layer of the metal door cracks at the sudden jolt. The loud slam of the door and the sound of thunder bounces of the walls and disappears into the darkness.
The spider problem is solved. As you (mostly Val) breathe a sigh of relief you hear the same deep rat sounds. There's more than one of whatever it is that's making that sound. And to top it all off, the sound's getting louder and louder.
Roll Initiative.
Currently, you can't see your enemy and don't even know where they are (the echos make it hard to pin point their direction). The only thing you do know is that they're heading in your direction.
I have rolled enemy initiative off screen. I will listed the rolled numbers here as enemies become visible. Why? To simulate the "Fog of War" effect seen in Fire Emblem games.
(Totally though everything would get to act before me, so was waiting for a monster's turn post.)
Elsara, squeaming slightly at the thought of giant rats, steps towards the front of the group and draws Riley's Spirit, her scimitar, while ready to attack should a monster of some kind attack them (and come within her weapon's reach).
(You thought right. The monsters did act but fog of war so you guys don't know that)
Normally you wouldn't be able to see this thanks to darkness and the hall being longer than your darkvision, but thanks to the illuminated rock Briggs threw down the hole back at the three way intersection, you see what looks to be a half-man, half-rat creature in leather Hide armor, wielding a shield and a pike step around the corner from the north passage.
Val immediately shoots it with an arrow and Gendan blasts it with an Eldritch Blast.
Val's Readied Action Roll: 16 Dmg: 6
The narrow hall makes it impossible for the four Guild Members to stand side by side. Val attempts to weave an arrow between Gendan and the wall but it flies wide and hits the wall.
Launches a beam of unholy energy at the ratman. The creature swiftly dodges, the attack grazes his armor, leaving nothing more than a scratch mark.
Runt, the only open space is back at the intersection where the Ratman came from. Also, he is too far away from you. At his current location (if he doesn't move) you would need to dash this turn and your next to get to melee range of him. Will you still move toward the Ratman?

Noted. Now that Poke's back. What will Elsara do on her turn?
(Totally though everything would get to act before me, so was waiting for a monster's turn post.)
Elsara, squeaming slightly at the thought of giant rats, steps towards the front of the group and draws Riley's Spirit, her scimitar, while ready to attack should a monster of some kind attack them (and come within her weapon's reach).

(Okay while checking my notes, it seems that I made a mistake because I was in a hurry. The creature is wearing Hide Armor not Leather Armor)
The creature quickly raises his shield and blocks the attack.
DM: Val, due to the narrowness of the hall the creature has +2 AC thanks to cover because Gendan, Runt and Elsara are in the way.
Runt's Turn.
Runt would like to grab the ratman and drag him out of the tunnel into the more open area.
