"I hope we had cleaned the ship, I have no much more energy left..."he says to the captain while they head towards the other ballista.
( I think difficulty is balanced, specially whith the party split. For example, Val is almost out all of his spells and was about to be drop to 0 HP. And the fight was intense and fun! by the way, come on guys you got this!!)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Right, so second round of hurrying forward with bladesong imbued speed should get me back into the fray to help Runt, right?)
Elsara brings the blade up, attempting to disable an orc (or two) to try and help her get out of being surrounded. She goes to a flanking position in an attempt to get them off-guard and alleviate some of the danger.
Scimitar vs. Orc:25 vs. AC. Hit:6 slashing damage. Scimitar vs. Orc:22 vs. AC. Hit:8 slashing damage.
"Hey, pick on someone your own size!" Elsara shouts at the orcs, before realising that both her and Runt are below average height and probably over a foot shorter than the average orc.
I agree with Frandal, it seems a pretty difficult fight as it is. I also am out of spell slots, and things would turn quickly and drastically if Runt reached 0 HP.)
(I mean... if you think this is a balanced encounter then that's great I'm doing a good job but you can still two-shot the orcs. I don't think this battle is going to turn bad even if Runt hits 0 HP. Deva's got the captain in melee so things seem to be pretty much in the bag.)
(I was gonna say we are all part of the midget brigade, but then I remembered that Dev is 6 feet and some change. XD)
(Also, if the sole remaining Orc is the 'Captain', then Dev is definitely giving chase, and I'm willing to pop Action Surge and Fall Back if possible to get off some attacks in melee.)

(Actually, there's two orcs, one is the captain who is within melee range of Deva due to Fallback + Dash and another Orc that was attacking Runt but now has run away with Disengage)
Seeing Runt chase after the fleeing orc, Gendan would turn her attention toward Deva and the Captain, and move to engage that situation as quickly as possible.
Runt can freely chase down the orc with her movement.
So on her next turn, Runt will chase down the orc. Does Deva action surge on the captain?
(Whoops! Here's the shotgun rolls then!)
Devarus doesn't give the Orc Captainess time to think before almost firing point blank for her torso, and then a second time for the leg. With each shot to fire Devarus tries to channel some of that rush of strength either in compelling Runt to move further, or to hit something just painful enough to throw his target off balance.
On 1st to hit, expending a Superiority Die for Maneuvering Attack Maneuver, inflicting an additional 8 and allowing Runt to expend her reaction to move 1/2 speed; provoking no opportunity attack.
If 2nd to hit as well, expending a Superiority Die for Distracting Attack Maneuver, inflicting an additional 1, causing the next attack roll made by someone other than me on Orc captain to be at advantage.

So there still one more orc that wasn't the captain, right?
Elsara will pursue, using the back of her blade in an attempt to knock it out. Scimitar vs. Orc:18 vs. AC. Hit:9 slashing damage. Scimitar vs. Orc:21 vs. AC. Hit:8 slashing damage.
Elsara lets out a sigh of relief, checking around her just in case there is any more. She then goes to check on Runt. "Are you okay?" She asks. She isn't a healer, but still has a potion left somewhere in her belongings. She begins to search around for it to offer to Runt to heal her.
The captain destroys the Ballista and braces himself for more Orcs but none come. He suggests moving forward and taking out the Ballista next.
Val nods and follows the captain.
"I hope we had cleaned the ship, I have no much more energy left..." he says to the captain while they head towards the other ballista.

Scimitar vs. Orc: 22 vs. AC. Hit: 8 slashing damage.
Battle 1:
Elsara swings at one of the orcs but her attack is blocked. She swings again and hits a sweet-spot on the orc's head and knocks Orc H.
Runt's Turn.
"Hey, pick on someone your own size!" Elsara shouts at the orcs, before realising that both her and Runt are below average height and probably over a foot shorter than the average orc.
(Gendan’s not too tall, either. Only 5’5”.

Runt grits her teeth and swings her axe at the foes currently stabbing her
Attack: 21 Damage: 15
Attack: 13 Damage: 19

Runt cuts down one more orc. Now there is only one. It disengages and makes a run for it.
Chase it down?

Unless anyone one is in her way, Runt will chaise the orc. If she is engaged still she wont.

First attack missed but the second hit and reduced the Cap to less than 0 HP. Do you kill or knock out?
Also everyone's turn now.

Scimitar vs. Orc: 18 vs. AC. Hit: 9 slashing damage.
Scimitar vs. Orc: 21 vs. AC. Hit: 8 slashing damage.
You successfully knock it.
Battle over.
Everyone gains: 2437 XP
(Just checking, did you apply the xp for us?)

(Yes, I applied it)
