"And here I had hope." Devarus replied dryly before looking back to the impression. If left to think on it a bit more he finally asks, "None of you would have any charcoal on hand would you? It's been a while, but I remember this one trick a halfling a know used for just the occasion." If none are still able to provide charcoal or alternate solution, he tries to pack the papers away carefully enough as to avoid damaging the impression.
"Although I have my doubts it is up here of all places, let's try to find Vlad's room next."

((The room had no fireplace but you'd probably be able to find some burnt wood that you can use on the paper near the hole in the stairs since it was a fire that burnt that hole in the first place.))
"Ah, excellent!" Devarus exclaimed as he took up the piece. "How could I forget? My thanks, Mr. Valwyrn! Now let's see... hm! Will need to be at least a little careful, but-" He trails off from there tentatively trying his hand at making a rubbing of the paper. "Do keep an ear and eye out as I do so. Would rather not be caught off guard a second time by some other roving band of vermins."

The paper darkens from the ash and soot rubbing off on it from the burnt piece of wood. While the paper blackens, the parts that had the impression stay almost the same, making the writing very readable.
To whom it may concern,
I have decided that I will not be returning to Maldore University. While looking in Vandanore Forest for Wasp Carrier Snails, I have decided that the forest is very inviting and serene and I would like to stay here for long term research. Do not search for me.
"I'm... I'm not too sure of that." Devarus mentions while rubbing his chin. "Do you remember the maid? It may be a long shot, but it is possible Elsa is that maid. Though if so, hmm..." He frowns before putting away the rubbing all the same. "We need to keep searching for a little bit longer. Let's see if we can find that... that kidnapping bastard's room." He suggest, promptly departing Victor's room to begin the hunt.
(To ZulkRS: Forgot where Victor's room is in relation to everything else, but what other potential doors/rooms are near? Also, did Vlad mention or suggest his own room would be nearby? )

Victor's room is on the second floor. It's on the east side of the floor. There are 3 other similar doors on that side of the floor. There are two more doors on the west side. It's been a while but I don't think Vlad mentioned his own room was nearby.
"Let's check the rest of the rooms, we may find clues of others..." says Valwaryn. "I just hope it's not too late for Viktor once we have finish here and we were able to pursue them. They have a good head start..."
"Unfortunately, from the moment we retreated, they were always going to have a good start. Somehow though I had hoped that manipulative snake would've been too determine to abandon this place all the same." Devarus said with a frown to his voice. "... But yes. The other rooms next. I'd suggest each of us checking one, but... No, I trust your judgements. Just be careful."
Devarus then proceeds to march to the next closest door, opening if they are unlocked, and readying to kick them open if otherwise. Unlike with Victor's room he only makes a token effort to look around the others personally, unless something stands out to him about its contents.

Deva checks the rest of the rooms in the east side of the hall. Two of them seem to be other bedrooms and the fourth is a similar sized room for housing dolls. The Doll room is creepy but that's because it's a room full of dolls. There is nothing magical about the Doll Room.
Searching through the other rooms, Deva doesn't find any clues but he does find a total of 1 PP ,17 GP ,57 SP 33 CP, in scattered coins. Probably stuff that the victims of Vlad lost during their stay.
(Thought I posted a response sooner, but goldfish brain strikes again.)
Although not too inclined to do so on principle Devarus winds up collecting the coin out of some petty thought towards at least depriving Vlad in some silly and small way. Anger gets him the doll room more than anything. As any other day, he might've almost immediately closed the door and pretended it didn't exist over actually searching for anything. "Mmn... Perhaps we have been looking at this wrong. For all the fancifulness of this place, a creature of its nature would be more inclined to stay in the dark. Meaning, we should perhaps seek out a basement." He suggests. "One last gambit, and then we can be off, I assure you all. But, if you wish to go tearing off deeper into the woods sooner than later, then I will stand no further as opposition."

"We follow you Devarus, better to have our minds at easy that they are not hiding in this place than second guess our decision. We have lost time already, let's hope we can track them down later."
Devarus breathes a sigh of relief, and following a final nod, he'd take point in leading the way back down to the first floor via the rope. At which point it really didn't matter to him which wing of the building they started from there, so long they kept an ear out for the sound of more clanking metal or skittering rodents along the way. Which with the exception of the climb down itself, he keeps scattershot in hand in preparedness to deal with whatever threat might unfold along the way.
(To ZulkRS: ie. leaving it up to you in regards to which of the wings of the manor we go to first, if that be the case.)

"Perhaps this is what he used to write the letter to his family? " says Valwaryn while looking for some charcoal in the fireplace of the room.

Val easily finds a piece of burnt wood that can be used.
The druid comes back to Devarus and gives him the charred piece of wood.
"Here friend, let's see if we can learn something"

"That sounds like another victim of this undead to me..." says Valwarin after Devarus read the manuscript.
"If we found him perhaps we could find this other victim... but I am afraid it is too late for her..."
