As the party investigates the loose stones, their teamwork seems to make some progress. A loud grinding fills the tunnels as a door begins to move before halting and unveils a hidden room beyond it. While not fully open, it's enough space for medium creatures to squeeze through.
A smell, like previously burning candles and torches, lingers in the air although nothing shines light from within the room. But easily visible (assuming entry) are some chests and desk with some pieces of parchment sprawled wildly about it.
Raker moves into the room, using his hooded lantern to illuminate the area. He looks at the desk and pieces of parchment before moving over to examine the chests. He sniffs the air to see if he can identify the smell. A prior torch burned in the room, or something more?

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
With a 22, As Raker enters the room he sees some torches and candles that look like they may have been lit as much as an hour ago that seem to be the source of the aroma.
Looking at the chests the first one on the left seems innocent enough however the one on the right seems to be trapped, though he gets a sense it would be easy for him to disarm.
For the desk it appears to have been haphazardly rummaged through and therefore very disorganized. Within the parchments he's able to see writings in code like the parchment the longsword kobold had. There also appear to be some rough sketches of Hampstead. Tucked in a corner are two stones. Each has a unique set of carvings on it.
With the 13, both Gaius and Raker get a sense this room was not originally present in the tunnels but rather carved out as part of an excavation to create a minor headquarters of sorts. There's a roughness to walls and more dirt/stone than elsewhere.
Gaius gathers up all of the papers to take with them. He then goes back out the secret door to pick up and examine the torn pieces of paper on the ground there. If there is writing on them he will gather them up as well and store them separately in a pouch for later examination.
Raker takes the two stones, putting them in his pouch for now, and bends down first to the chest on the left, opening it up. Afterwards he examines the trap on the chest to the left, trying to determine the nature of the trap, using his thieve’s tools to disarm it.

Gaius is able to gather up the paper and finds some writing on the pieces from the hall. They appear to part of the same collection.
As Raker looks into the first chest he able to find a stash of 55 gold held inside. His attempt to disarm the right chest [[sleight of hand seems reasonable]] goes successfully without a hitch. As he opens the chest he finds a staff with a flock of birds carved on it and a carved ruby.
Gaius returns to the secret room, "What did you find, Raker? The torn up papers outside have the same writing on them it seems." Gaius moves to the desk and places the torn papers on the surface to see if he can put them back together.
With a 7, Gaius isn't able to have much luck while trying to combine the papers together. He gets a sense that the parchments they were attached to are possibly not present. Perhaps tearing occurred if they were being grabbed in a haste. However it does give him a sense that there were many distinct messages being conveyed.
You hear the sound of a staff being pulled out of a chest and some coins clinking. “Gold. And an interesting staff, have a look, maybe you can.. use it?” He hands the staff to Gaius and starts to take some of the coin, dividing up stacks with Gaius and Relic (thirds).

Examining the staff you're able to detect magic coming from it. Perhaps transmutation?* Examining the walls, floor, chests, and desk in the room however he isn't able to find evidence of more magical items/effects. [[please let me know if there's anything else you'd like to examine, I'm going with ~1 minute for what's been examined so you've still got time on your spell]]
*Honestly not sure school of magic to classify the staff as. Was leaning between transmutation or illusion.
Gaius examines the staff and reports, “This is enchanted. Seems like Transmutation or Illusion. I will keep examining it.” He looks to the others, “Do you have anything else you would like examined?”
Gaius will continue concentrating on the spell for its duration.
The party processes forward and comes to a minor juncture. To their right they can see another open room of sorts in the tunnels. From their vantage point they can see some sacks stuffed against the wall in the dirt. Forward ahead the stonework of tunnels ends and gives way to a far cruder passage of dirt and supports. The wood of the supports looks like it hasn't quite weathered yet. The opening is small, tall enough for a a shorter creature like a kobold to walk but low enough that a medium creature would be hunched over or crawling. (prone).
Raker holds his hand out to Gaius, saying merely “Caution!” He looks at the scene, his senses tingling, but he is unable to make anything from it. “These creatures, they love traps. Be… careful.”

Searching through the first sack, Gaius finds only some morsels of food.
With a 9, Raker doesn't notice anything out of place or trapped about the room. As he uses his mage hand to open the next sack there's a loud snapping of metal and out of the sack tumbles something akin to an oversized mousetrap.
In addition, now in the room, the partymembers are able to see a third sack lined up against the Westward wall.
