Holy shit! A man between 190 and 195 pounds wearing leather boots and silk undies waltzed between the two doors twice about 2 weeks ago. So says the dust trails!
This cellar does see regular foot traffic. The tracks split evenly down both stair cases to the cellar floor below, but from there they tend to show activity around the barrels and the door to the west. Oddly though, you can see foot traffic in the southwest corner that goes right up to the wall. There are also scrape marks on the floor in that same corner, probably from barrels being dragged. The door that Kitryn is currently facing (north) sees almost no foot traffic.
"what's this you say? don't bother with with that door? and what reason should i have to... oh.. ok, that's a pretty good reason, and those marks are curious. let us search further, there may be a switch or something to activate it. "
Kitryn moves to the south west corner where Leek points out the disappearing tracks and looks everywhere for some sort of mechanism to open what she suspects is a secret door. Yet she doesn't find any, because the secret door is not locked. With a slight push, it opens on hidden hinges.
At the same time that Kitryn discovers the secret door, a ruffian opens the western door from the inside, stepping into the light and while rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, begins to say, "Ye have to be so noisy? Got something that needs...." The ruffian, eyes still drooping, sees Katerielle, Rindelk and Elila on the landing and stops speaking, stunned.
Ok, so 1. What is the source of light for the ruffian? Are there torches, lamps or is it sunlight through windows? If it is fire-based (torch, etc) I will use Druidcraft to snuff it out (That way he will be in the dark).
2. IFFFFFF I can't snuff out the light source, I will instead run up to a distance of 10 feet from him and cast earth tremor: Dex save 12 or he takes 1d6 damage and is prone.
OOC: The entire cellar is lit by oil lamps. So is the room behind him. I like where you're going with this (Very clever, I give you DM inspiration: ie: you can use it up to roll with advantage whenever you want.), as everyone but Elila have darkvision and those ruffians are human, so they don't. I will rule you snuff out all the lights in the cellar. The lights in the room behind him are not snuffed out, but the ruffian is blocking the doorway, so he is silhouetted by it, and he can't see in the cellar room.
What this means is the Ruffian, in his current position, can't see what is coming at him. So ranged attacks are made with advantage. Anyone that moves into melee will be lit up enough by the light in the room for the ruffian to see, so normal rules. If the ruffian moves into the cellar (voluntarily or not), he will not be able to see and will make melee attacks at disadvantage.
Since Leek didn't say he's moving somewhere, I rule he moved onto the stairs to cast Druidcraft, then returned to the corner.
The redbrand ruffian in the doorway curses as the lights in the cellar go out, "**** ****!" He draws his short sword and begins to bang it against the wall next to him, yelling over his shoulder, "Trespassers! Get up you twits. And light a ******* torch!" He takes up a position in the doorway, waiting for his allies to back him up.
Nope. No one has been here EVER...
sigh
OOC: That would be Survival. Someone in the group (or you Leek) can roll Survival to follow and interpret tracks.
Alright. Survival: 11

OOC: Wow, ok.

Should we explore he rooms and see what or who could be in there?

is ruffian aware of me?
ooc: @Kitryn, No. Leek either.
in that case i am going to go down the hall and see if it loops back around him. i will peek around the corner before committing to the turn.
stealth roll: 21
Kitryn moves up, peeks around the corner and just sees another bend in the hall.
OOC: Everyone else moves before Kytrin goes again.
I attack the ruffian with firebolt!!!
Attack: 11 Damage: 10
Initiative!!
The Redbrand ruffian reacts faster than Rindelk. But Leek reacts even faster!
Order: Leek, Ruffian, Kitryn, Elila, Rindelk then Katerielle.

i think that's the extent of my movement. 5ft/square?
don't believe i have LOS to attack so i will hide 13
You can move 1 more square. You still have an action you can use to move more, or do something. As a rogue, you can Hide as a bonus action now.
Sorry to the one member that does not have dark vision!
