Starker puts a manticore spike in the box. “This is a badge of honor I had hoped to share with future children or grandchildren along with a (slightly exagerated, perhaps) tale of its acquisition.
As you speak about your memory the troll draws in a hissing breath across its sharp, yellowed teeth. Licking its lips quickly it responds to you, "Your.....Memories...." There is a reverence in its voice as it says so. "Memories are very valuable. Metal is easy to come by. Those discs are meaningless. But, memory." It edges closer to you but remains out of reach of your sword and implores, "Tell me about your memory." The troll’s attention is solely on Hoid.
The two water-formed serpents have moved to block the opposite side of the bridge, one on each side. They continue to sway as if ready to strike.
“I am called Hoid. I do not know if that is my name because I have no memory. I do not know where I am from and I do not know my family. I know my compatriots, but they are recent memories.”
Hoid stands at the top of the bridge, conversing with the troll. Chadwick stands behind him on the arch climbing the bridge from your side of the stream. Trolkarl is at the base of the bridge. Gneuman, Starker and Kragen all stand on the path leading to the bridge. The troll is standing in the stream, just out of reach of all of you (except Chadwick's Lucerne Hammer). The water-formed serpents are rising from the waters on each side of the bridge, blocking access to the far side of the stream.
Hoid, to the party, “The troll is in my mind. Looking. To my knowledge there is nothing to find. If she does find something, maybe that will be useful to both of us. Oh, and the troll is evil.”
You all see the troll and Hoid's eyes lock and the troll looks intently into Hoid's. His eyes glaze over and his facial features go slack, but for just a moment. The troll cackles with glee, "Yes. Wonderful. Powerful memory. A toll paid for all of you," she says hopping from foot to foot. The water serpents retract themselves into the water, disappearing. "Delightful," the troll continues and turns to walk towards the pool.
With a look of concern on his face. "I am sorry that creature delved into your mind however relieved you are well!" "Not sure what you sacrificed, however it seems to have appeased it??"
"Although i am a little unnerved at what we have encountered, I am curious about what further awaits... shall we continue?"

"Ooooh," she says. "How lovely. Have you been cursed? By whom?," the trolls rasps out. "I can listen. I can see. That is a wonderful toll."
“Troll, I thank you! I had not considered the possibility of being cursed. You have done me a great service.”
Trolkarl puts a gold coin in the box and walks to the other side, joining those who have already passed.
No one has passed. Hoid is on the middle of the bridge. The water serpents are blocking the other side.
Trolkarl walks to the center of the bridge after depositing his coin.
Gneuman follows Trolkarl's example.
Kragen will follow, when the others pass. In sequence with the marching order.

“Next time, someone else gets to pick up the tab.”
Once out of hearing from the troll. "That was unsettling. What was it like? Did it spark anything from your past?"
“It was like something was looking in my memories, ones that I couldn’t see. I gained nothing.”
“However, the troll is intelligent, cunning and organized. Not very troll-like.”
With a look of concern on his face. "I am sorry that creature delved into your mind however relieved you are well!" "Not sure what you sacrificed, however it seems to have appeased it??"
"Although i am a little unnerved at what we have encountered, I am curious about what further awaits... shall we continue?"
Hoid heads toward the other side of the bridge.
The troll turns to face you as it gets waist deep in the pool, “Don’t you want to know what I saw, Hoid?”
