My gut is that a shrieking fungus will not be highly mobile. I suggest maximum range cantrips, at least to start, to conserve resources. Hopefully we can kill the fungus at range.
As you approach more closely, you see several large mushrooms that are purple in coloration with multiple stomata on their bulbous, spherical caps. Thin black tendrils can be seen waving in the air above the tops of the mushrooms. Lying in the center of this collection of mushrooms, you see what appears to be a skeletal figure. It is covered in fungus so details are difficult to make out.
There is another large fungus growing that is closer to you. It has red and blue coloration of its stalk with a rough, dark blue cap that also has stomata. The stomata open and close and emit the shrieking you are now experiencing.
Trolkarl's Eldritch Blast obliterates the fungus and silence returns to the mountain after the echoes stop. Your ears are just recovering when the eerie moan again fills the air. It seems to be coming from all around you.
Kragen moves out a bit from the group and starts to prayer and gesture with his Holy Symbol. This takes a bit of time and then points to an area in front of the group (marked by the X).

You see Kragen then move 20' from the X towards the Fungi. Once out of the cone of Silence, casts Sacred Flame on the Fungi with black tendrils.
All is quiet for you now. The meager light that the Driftglobe provides seems paltry to the immensity of the cavern you are within. The darkness surrounds you and weighs down upon you. You still feel as if something is watching from beyond the veil of darkness. Those with Darkvision can see that the skeletal figure ahead remains in place, unmoving and covered with fungi.
There are many of the fungi with spherical heads trailing black tendrils from stomata in their caps. Kragen torched one with his cantrip. Trolkarl blasted the noisy fungus into many tiny pieces.
After a look of frustration, Hoid starts tapping his breastplate and walking forward. Once he can hear his own tapping, he stops and gives Kragen a bewildered look.

“I wasn’t sure if this unholy shrieking would have an impact on our party. I silenced the area around us to use as a safe zone if needed.”, “if the shrieking does somehow impact certain party members, I can continue to call on Tyr to silence this scourge.”, “if it is not benefit, we can move on.” Shrugs his shoulders then turns to look at the mass of fluorescent fungi.
”I know not what watches us however something is affecting my ability to call upon Tyr?”

Kragen starts randomly scorching mushrooms around you. This looks to be a full time job for the next several weeks.
I recommend focusing on the shrooms surrounding the skeleton.
