A bit late here, but anytime the group takes lodging at an inn, Xymox will enquire about entertaining the locals and any stray travellers for the evening. He will volunteer his services, free of charge. He asks only for one round of beverages for his mates. He would also ask that any tips go to the bar maids and other inn staff.\
Starker:”Colleagues, our sleep’s lack of refreshing effect troubles me. I will check to see if we are under some fell enchantment.”
<Starker and Cyrus enact the ritual of Detect Magic. Cyrus seems a bit uncertain, and Starker has to restart once, chastising the spider monkey saying ‘widdershins when the aether is mimzy, silly primate!’>
After Kragen's arcane ministrations, you see him furrow his eyebrows, lean in an peer intently at Starker.
"Mage Starker, you clearly look like you are unwell. Let me see if i can provide you some respite from a restless night of sleep."
Kragen pulls his Holy water from his belt and starts to pray to Tyr and splash water on Starker. Kragen then places his hand on Starker shoulder, patting it fondly.
"There, there, let Tyr wash this restless night from your thoughts. Be refreshed!"

Starker:”I’m melting. Melting! Oh, what a world!!!”
<pats self, a little surprised at the fact that he is not, in fact, melting>
”Thank you, Friend Kragen. Please forgive my attempt at humor. I am really quite grateful. I will report fully any and all sensations that are consequent to your ministrations.”

Xymox to no one in particular: "Now THAT’S hilarious."
Glances at Starker and Kragen with the holy water. And ponders silently for a few moments, the best approach to not offend his friend.
That Kyton thing we fought back in the mines- it used our fears against us. Chadwick's father also reported disturbing dreams in his letter.
Before I begin inferring causation, where I shouldn't- has anything changed with the fiend controlling talisman or the ring of resistance? If we can rule out those couple of items as the source, perhaps we could consider a wider blight that we have now entered. A blight that impacted Chadwick's father and now us.
Starker:”I consulted with my colleague, Arnak, on both objects. He warned me against using the talisman, not against possessing it. He said that rings sometimes echo with the personalities of those who used them, but said that the only way to know for sure would be to attune to it. This I have not done as I see no immediate need for the type of protection it confers. We had possessed both items for quite a period of time with no seeming ill effects, which would lower the posterior probability that their possession is, in itself, harmful. However, if we wanted to perform an experiment we could bury them nearby in some hole we could find again and pick them up after we see to Chadwick’s people. I would suggest we not do so, however, as some rustic who chanced upon them or was drawn to them might suffer harm with no compensating benefit to The Company. However, in this I will defer to Friend Kragen, as I agreed to do when he consented in my retaining the talisman for study.”
Kragen chuckles at Starker's response. "Ha, glad to see that you are still your snarky self Mage!" then grumbles "I sensed an aura of undead coming from you." bushy eyebrows raised, over his eyes of eagle spectacles
"Thus i took some liberty, not knowing if you were possessed, in protecting you from Evil and hopefully breaking any grip that fell Daemon may have had on you!"
contemplates for a moment, then speaks to Trolkarl. "I share your caution and apprehension with these accursed objects Trolkarl, your intuition is keen.", "I recently have had nightmares about my past, it sounds like they continue for others as well??"
Waits for others to share
"If that is the case, we need to free ourselves of these items and remove them from existence.", "If indeed they are the source, i would have them destroyed!"
Kragen accepts the Ring and Talisman from Starker.
bows his head slightly “Thank you Mage Starker, I appreciate your willingness to recognize a risk to The Company.”
peering at both items, fingers the ring looking curiously. “I am sensing that the Ring is the source of something Evil, death seeps from this item.” Cringes as he holds it.
addressing The Company. “I will certainly not make unilateral decisions about Company property. However, I recommend that we remand this item (holds both items in fist) to the Temple to dispose and destroy of them properly. I fear the ring is having ill effect on our well being.”
The Company remains in Mirabar this morning. Starker has cast Detect Magic upon the group finding no unexpected dweomers or enchantments. Kragen has cast Detect Evil and Good on the group finding a focus of undeath upon Starker. Kragen then casts Protection from Evil and Good upon Starker with no outward effect. Further investigation reveals the source of necrotic energy to be the Ring of Radiance Resistance.
There are temples dedicated to Tymora, Dumathoin and Moradin here in Mirabar. None dedicated to Tyr.
Frowning at Starker "Mage Starker, i appreciate your curiosity and recognize that we all have different values and motivations. However, if this Talisman represents a Daemon or God from an evil realm, i would just as soon remand it to the Church and have it destroyed.", "I am not sure what you want to learn from this artifact however it may lead to ill effects."
"However, in this matter i will defer to The Company. I will take the Ring to The Temple of the Soul Forger (Moradin) and have them dispose of the item. I would also recommend that we dispose of the Talisman as well." Looking to the others for confirmation
"If no one else has an opinion on this matter then i will take both.", "Then we can be on our way to Chadwicks village."
wraps the ring and talisman in a piece of cloth and sprinkles Holy Water on it.
"Ah yes, a temple of Moradin should be able to assist us!"
He goes on to add in a surprising lecturing voice:
"Moradin is the lawful good god of dwarves and the chief deity in their pantheon. He is known as the Soul Forger and Dwarffather, representing strength, will, and craftsmanship. Moradin is a harsh but fair judge who values good works and encourages dwarves to be good-natured, intelligent, and harmonious with other races. He inspires dwarven inventions and constantly seeks to improve their race. "
He pauses a bit "I uh, we had to do a report on a deity other than Tyr and he always reminded me of Sergeant Baylor who would always kick our ass but he did it to make us better and stronger.
"Perhaps me and Kragen can take them to the temple to see them disposed of while the rest of you want to meet up with Hanny's contacts to sell off the extra items?
I think it would be best if we also disposed of the leather armor (Resistance to Radiant damage) as well. It was crafted for the purpose of defying the deities of good, so it shouldn't be allowed to continue to aid villains against them.
I understand it probably has a significant value so if you inquire to it's selling price I'll split that gold amongst you from my own funds." He says this in a tone that suggests he is not open to negotiation and the matter has been decided.
Starker:”I will accompany you, if I may, to the temple of Moradin, in case they should have any questions about these objects I can answer as they pursue the course Kragen and The Company have decided.”

I detect no unexpected magic item or enchantment. Perhaps this is more in Friend Kragen’s area of expertise?”
Kragen looks to Straker with unease.”what vexes you Mage Starker? I am concerned about your comments. I too have had I’ll omens this night!”
