Request to speak to Captain Sannak. "What can you tell me regarding the recent history of goblins in this area?" "Goblins have been responsible for the deaths of several of my friends and family. I would look for a remedy for their plague."
- Eat.
- Get a room.
- bath.
- Meditate and consider recent events and any relevant information from the good Captain.
“There have been more reports of goblins raiding the farmsteads to the north and west. Nothing of great strength yet. Their attack on you was the most daring I have heard in a while,” Sannak replies. “There is talk of a new chieftain of some kind called Gral. Anything you can learn I would appreciate your sharing.”
Trolkarl will elaborate on Craddock. Mention that in addition to earning the title of coward, he lured people into the sewers of Luskan for sacrificial killings to a demon he serves. He uses magic and is most dangerous. I describe him to the best of my ability. I warn that the town militia would be well served to keep an eye out for him. My suspicion is the goblin and bandit change in aggression is probably related to this murderer.
I tell Sannak, our wizard companion possibly has more elaborate notes or even sketches of Craddock. He has a great attention to detail and records.
Sannak takes in the information provided by Trolkarl. "I will pass this along to our watch commanders. How will I recognize this half-orc compared to any of the other half-orcs with legitimate business here in town?"
You are able to get rooms arranged at The Hallowed Tree. Despite his outburst about wizards giving him heartburn lately, the innkeeper is fairly easy going. After a night's good sleep on a comfortable bed outside of armor you feel quite refreshed. Those of you who chose to bathe as well feel even better. The next morning you find a simple breakfast waiting for you downstairs. Apparently there is a commotion upstairs about one of the guests being unhappy about something that occurred in the night. The innkeeper can be heard muttering to himself, "....last wizard I welcome here....." and you can't help but see him giving Erbert the stink eye on the way upstairs. There are craftsmen in town that have items on hand you would like to purchase. (Use standard pricing from the PHB)
Kragen and Chadwick make their way to the Temple of Tyr. It is a combine temple to Torm and Ilmater as well. There are three head priests, one for each of the deities as well as several acolytes who seem to be unaligned at this point. Tyr's priest is a human woman named Bessia. She welcomes you to the temple and offers prayers for you and your journey. "Go forth and be Tyr's hammer."
On the morrow, we return to Jortruns, collect our payment for services rendered to date. Once all who will be accompanying Hoid and I, return from reprivisioning themselves.
suggesting to the group “let’s return south, a days ride where we were ambushed, and use Erberts notes and drawings to see if we can pick up on the bandit's trail.” “Any other astute suggestions?”
My recollection is that the sight of the dead horses had some clear signs of direction that the perpetrators left, but I agree with the plan of action given that where the party was ambushed is on the way.
On the topic of provisions, Hoid no longer needs the light crossbow provided by Cleggor or the short bow we recovered. If anyone wants either, please say so.
Planning suggestion: when we next encounter CradDICK the Coward, I propose focusing damage on him to the greatest extent possible. Particularly those who can damage at range, unload early.

That just seems unkind.....
On the contrary, we think so much of him that we want to lavish our attention on him!
Of note to the group, cpt Sannack also mentioned there were goblin raids on farmsteads north and west of town. If the “scene of the ambush” nets us no additional clues to follow, we can head northwest of town and investigate.

I would like to get a shield in the morning

(( Also, everyone should take a long rest ))
/ready for plans

Kragen pauses waiting for others to engage.

Concur. If we can't find anything noteworthy at the ambush site we'll continue on to dead horse crossing.
Also on the provision front, is the local smith willing to pay anything for the scimitars and other low grade weapons?
He will offer you 20sp for all of it.

Deal. We have no use for them or time to do something else.
Can we get an official coin split between that and the change we got from the goblins?

We also have the 50gp from mission Warwagon to disseminate as well.
Total treasure gained (after selling scrap metal and meeting up with Magnar Stonejaw this morning):
50gp, 77sp, 58cp ------> Or, 8gp, 12sp, 9cp each and the leftovers are "living expenses" if you like.
Light Crossbow, Bolts, Bolt Case
6 Javelins
If the bolts and blot case are good quality, I will take them.
