Hatt is initially pleased to see his father, though he had visited his parents in Cresthall only a week earlier. I wonder what Pa is doing here, though? he thinks - or at least starts to think, the thought is half-formed when something hits his mind like a door slamming into his face.
Wisdom: 14
(this isn't against being frightened, is it? Edit: Oh, it is)
Second roll at advantage on saves against being frightened: 16
Third role with 'Lucky': 8
(Edit: SERIOUSLY!!?!??)
The horror hits him. Yes, that's right. How could I have forgotten? I left them. I left them all to die. The memories of how they had all fled together, how the family had survived the long months on the road as refugees, supporting each other, keeping each others' hopes up, until finally reaching Cresthall - well, those weren't memories, they were a pretty fantasy to hide the truth from himself, a truth that now comes rushing back. The truth of his failures, as a son, as a brother, as a servant of the Goddess, they all sink in deep. Hatt's legs slowly give way and he sinks quietly to sit on the ground, unable to speak, unable to do anything but gape at the father he abandoned so long ago.
Ashley begins crying. I'm sorry, I couldn't save you. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry, I;m sorry, I'm sorry.... She buries her face in her hands and continues to sob.
[ aww dang it, the conversation moved so quickly aurelia didn't have time to say something important ]
While Aurelia hadn't gotten to spend much time with her mother at all, there was no question that she suddenly saw her standing there. Her mind grew fussy as she tried to connect what had previously happened to the situation she was currently in. The triton woman looked strong, proud and benevolent. That is, until she raised her sword. Maybe she didn't die after all.
Very confused and equally concerned, Aurelia put a hand on her greataxe in anticipation.
Gasp, you manage to see through the man's power, but everyone else is afflicted with frightened. Those afflicted with fear still see the images before them and their legs feel as heavy as lead. (Along with the frightened status, your speed drops to 0)
The armored man wields his sword with both hands as he looks to you Gasp.
(Roll for initiative. Frightened lasts for 1 minute and can be stopped at the end of your turn with a WIS save throw.)

Bennett, out of a mix of fear and anger, charges up an eldritch blast. His right eye goes into a glowing green orb. This is one scary dude...
12 for Initiative
((For sake of positioning, Bennett is probably out of melee range as Crispy and I were walking back to the group. So probably 10 or so feet away from the dude?))
((Also, are the other members of his group drawing their weapons as well, or is it just him?))
(Once the initial shock has worn off, will we continue to believe in the images, or do we realise it's an illusion, even though we still see them?)
(You will still continue to believe the image until you succeed in your WIS save throw. Speaking of it. You do have advantage technically. I'm sorry for not noticing in on your sheet. So if you want to do another roll for it or just wait for your turn?)
(I tried the advantage roll by editing the post above. It didn't go well...)
(Tough luck man. Oh and I suppose you're beside Aurelia who stands at about 20 feet away from the armored man. While the Ashley, Bennett, Crispy, and Gasp are about 10 feet as Bennett says. And drawing weapons is free during a turn, just not drawing and stowing, that will cost an action. Bennett you can take this moment to spawn your pact weapon since I assumed you put it away.)

(Where are you guys getting that extra +2 to your wisdom?)
I have a 15 WIS.
Wise, but..not very charismatic.
((Bennett gets a +2 cause he is proficient in Wisdom saves as a Warlock.))

((+2 from Wisdom. +2 from Wisdom save proficiency))
(Ah my bad, was looking for the save throw thing below the chart. And Crispy you have to roll for wisdom saving throw.)
I did, I got an 18.

@ Hatt (You're not flat onto the ground so no.)
(It will cancel out the fear, yes.)
