Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Sorry, I'm beginning to enter a vacation period and while I will try to check-in at least daily, I cannot promise that I will always be able to do so. From September 1, I should be back to normal.
Opening the door slowly, the group is treated to the sight of a well-lit room. It is the most opulent room any of them has ever seen. The wall is made of gold bricks and the floor seems to be from polished white-gold marble. The ceiling is lower than any other room, only about 10 feet high, but it is also gold-plated with some scuff marks noticeable in some places. Within the room are twelve three-tiered shelves that seem to be made of or veneered with silver. The top-most tier is high enough to be face-to-face with Wadi and Inge. Each tier holds one medium-sized chest plated in white gold.
On the other side of the room opposite from where the group enters is another door. This one is a little bit harder to notice because it is also made of gold bricks and blends in with the wall. However, there is a noticeable break in the wall's pattern that points out to the presence of a door.
"I agree with you here, Milo," says Myrla. "These chests won't walk out of here by themselves, so we can still pick them up before we leave if we wish. Also, first and foremost, we must find an exit, there's no use of treasure if we are left to die. There's no difference to me between dying poor or rich in this monument."
Myrla tries to figure out if the golden door can be opened in some way (Perception: 15; or Investigation: 6)

"This room seems safe enough as long as we don't touch anything. Perhaps we could rest here for a bit. I could use a bit to replenish some of my mixtures. suggests Brix.
A ten foot ceiling - Inge doesn't like that, being nearly as tall as Wadi at 6'5". She is feeling a little claustrophobic, being used to the wide expanses of the White Waste as she is. She suspects smaller people (like Brix) probably are braver than her when it comes to tight spaces (which this is, to her).
"What are those scuff marks on the shiny ceiling? Not going to drop down and squish us, is it? Maybe those scuffs are from the last adventurers here."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Since nobody seems willing to stop Brix decides to investigate the golden room himself. First he checks the doors to see which way they swing. (He will block them open into the room if possible.) Once satisfied with the doors he'll begin a visual investigation of the chests or at least any part of the shelving he's able to see. He looks for indications of pressure plates, switches, anything that would indicate mechanical traps. He applies his thieves tools as needed.
Inge happily helps Brix as needed, giving him a boost or piggy-back ride to inspect any of the higher shelves or ceiling. She herself keeps a distrustful eye on the scuffed golden ceiling, ready to usher herself and everyone else out if it looks as if it is going to collapse down on the party.
Milo is cautious to enter. Instead he attempts to prop the door open so that if the ceiling does start to drop, there is an escape path (last thing he wants is the door to trap them in.
The golden door is without a handle on this side. Nevertheless, it is not locked and can be opened easily. The gap between the door and the frame is large enough for a finger to find some purchase to pull it. The door will then open inward.
Checking the chests and the shelves seems to be the correct decision. There is a very fine layer underneath each chest that appears to be a pressure plate. Each chest seems to be filled to the brim with copper coins. There must have been at least a thousand coins in each chest. It is unclear whether removing anything from the chest or just opening the chest would trigger the trap. By the looks of the scuff mark on the ceiling, it coincides with the vertical frame of the shelves, which means it is possible that the ceiling would come down when the trap is triggered.
Milo will remain outside the room."I am not sure about this room still. Do we want to rest or do we want to push on a little further? Or do we do a small combination? A couple of us try look ahead, stopping at any sign of danger while some people rest and then we can plan the next steps while we sleep."
Brix attempts to ease Inges trepidation by pointing out that the doors swing inward and should provide some resistance should the ceiling start to lower.
"Everyone ready for me to open the door?" When given the signal, Wadi will open the door.
