So, I presume the flame doesn’t augment an already enchanted item. Am I right? Or could I add a +1 to my spell to hit and DC checks by making the glass staff my arcane focus?
Booming Cavern A narrow ledge overlooks a large cavern that houses a surging, seething body of water. The rhythmic booming heard throughout the mines is louder here. At regular intervals, a fresh surge of water funnels into this chamber and slams against the wall just below the ledge. The echo suggests that this cave might be one arm of a much larger cavern to the northeast.
Old Streambed This passageway is barely four feet high and is obstructed by rounded boulders and pebbles. It might have been a streambed, though no water flows here now.
Collapsed Cavern A wide rift fills the eastern half of this cavern. A stream pours out of the west wall, then tumbles down into the rift and flows out again to the north. Several ropes are secured to iron stakes along on the western edge of the rift, leading down to the chasm floor.
Rift The rift is 20 feet deep. Climbing up or down without using a rope requires a successful DC 10 Strength (Athletics) check. A creature that fails the check by 5 or more falls and takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage per 10 feet fallen, landing prone at the bottom.
As you march along the "Old Streambed", you hear voices, one has a drow accent and the others have goblin accents but deeper voices like bugbears. Everyone passes their stealth check to sneak up on the scene below.
"Keep sifting." demands a drow man in medium armor. Wielding two scimitars and a cape, he looks to be of a noble house or at least once was. "Nuthin Here." drones a bugbear holding a rake. Two other bugbears are moving stones and rocks with their hands. "Why we digging?" asks one of the Bugbears. "Nezznar's divinations are never wrong. He says that there is treasure in this pit, so you dig until you find it."
OOC: Question, are we and/or the drow currently in darkness?
Bugbears and Drow all have darkvision, so should everyone on the team but Jyin. And Jyin has a glowing mace called Lightbringer. He must hide the mace and follow Wilhorn through the dark. Once the combat starts, he will pull out Lifhtbringer to see.
Vex moves to the top of the Rift, casts hunter's mark on the lead bugbear (B1) and shoots a hand crossbow bolt with Dorah beside him, targeting B1 30 feet away, Dorah will attempt to climb down the ropes.
Dorah attempts to climb down, Athletics DC 10 vs 6
Jyin pulls out Lightbringer and rushes up to the top of the rift and quickly climbs down the ropes, using his action and with enough movement to move into melee range of B2.

Daewen's eyes gleamed with a predatory glint, invisible thanks to her Shadar-Kai heritage. This was her element – a chance to strike from the shadows. With a silent invocation, she channeled the power of the Raven Queen, her form dissolving into an inky wisp that vanished from sight.
A heartbeat later, Daewen reappeared, a phantom warrior materialized right behind the unsuspecting drow. The creature's eyes widened in a split second of shock before Daewen launched her assault. Her rapiers became a blur of silver and deadly intent, the first blow aimed for the drow’s exposed back (attack #1). The second strike followed suit, a whirlwind of steel seeking a vital point (attack #2). Finally, with a flourish, Daewen unleashed a third attack, her remaining rapier a streak of silver that threatened to cleave the drow in two (attack #3). The air crackled with the metallic song of steel on armor, but the outcome was swift and brutal. Before the drow could even react, Daewen vanished once more, melting back into the shadows as seamlessly as she had emerged. Silence descended on the rift, broken only by the gurgling water below. Unseen and unheard, Daewen had delivered her attack, leaving the remaining bugbears to grapple with the sudden, and undoubtedly fatal, demise of their commander.

Very cool.
So we all leveled up to 5th level, we all have 12 hour temp +1 magic items, now we need to finish cleaning out the mine.

Wilhorn makes eyes at Daewen to confirm what he already suspects.
The Drow needs to go first.
He then subtle spell casts Bless on Daewen, Jyin, and Vex to not spoil their stealthy approach. (Gotta love metamagic.)
