Fury twisted the drow's face into a mask of rage. He lashed out blindly with desperate slams, clawing at the empty air where Daewen had been. Two frustrated bellows echoed in the rift as his fists met nothing but the cold darkness. Seizing the opportunity, Daewen reappeared right behind the wounded drow. With a ruthless efficiency, her rapier became a phantom blur. She lashed out twice, seeking a vital artery to end the drow's pathetic attempt at life. Daewen, a silent specter in the shadows, melted back into the darkness, leaving the bugbears to face the chilling silence left in her wake.
Wilhorn, from the lip of the rift, smirked seeing Daewen dispatch a mortal enemy. How did she appear and disappear so effortlessly?
Jyin, on the other hand, looks like he has stepped into it. No sooner had he arrived, they ganged up and clobbered him pretty good. The focus has to be ending this quickly. He makes the slight adjustment in the casting of Eldritch Blast to split the beams. The first to hit B1 and the second to strike B2.
As the lifeless body of the Drow falls to the ground, its appearance changes to look like a doppleganger. The remaining Bugbears seem shocked an confused by the deception.
Temple of Dumathoin Six cracked marble pillars line the walls of this hall, at the north end of which stands a nine-foot-tall statue of a dwarf seated on a throne, a mighty stone warhammer across his lap. Large emeralds gleam in the statue's eyes. The dust and debris covering the floor has been swept to one side, and a campsite of sorts now spreads in front of the statue. Half a dozen bedrolls and packs are neatly arranged around a rough-built fire pit. A wooden table stands on the west side of the room between two pillars.
Four giant spider(s) flank a dark elf dressed in black leather armor and robes. He clutches a black staff with a carved spider at the top and frowns as he sees you. "It seems that I must deal with you myself. A pity it must end this way. I surrender."
"I give up. I admit that I am Black Spider, and that I've been putting the goblins and orcs to work to find the spell forge. You must be powerful indeed if you've survived this long. Tell me, have you dispatched the Spectator guarding the Spell Forge? If so, may I join you in investigating its powers?"
Wilhorn quickly scans the room looking for Gundren’s brother.
”Toss your staff over to us, then. You have no further need of it, lest you need make one more command to the spiders to stand down. Iarno awaits you in a cell. I’m sure you two will have a lot to talk about as you await your trials.”
Assuming Wilhorn is not getting a good read on Black Spider’s behaviors, he frowns a little and says, “Don’t turn this chamber into your tomb.”
Wilhorn taps the floor with the butt of the Glass Staff to provide evidence that Albrek has been neutralized.
The air in the chamber was thick with anticipation, punctuated by the rhythmic crackle of the fire. Daewen, a phantom in the shadows, took in the scene with a practiced eye. Black Spider, flanked by his monstrous arachnid companions, exuded a dangerous aura. His words, dripping with a false veneer of surrender, were a transparent attempt at deception. A slow, silent smile played on Daewen's lips. This wouldn't be a straightforward fight. With a dancer's grace, she began a slow, silent circuit of the chamber, her form blending seamlessly and invisibly with the darkness. Each step was measured, calculated to maximize surprise and minimize her risk of detection. The flickering firelight danced off the polished marble floor, creating shifting patterns that served as a perfect cloak. Her keen eyes missed nothing – the layout of the room, the nervous glances exchanged between the giant spiders, the subtle shift in Black Spider's weight as he prepared for a potential confrontation. She was a predator, a silent wraith stalking unseen, and for now, her focus was singular – to wait for the perfect moment to strike.
Action: She is invisible, laying in wait, ready to attack Black Spider from behind at a moments notice.
"Fellows. No wait. Friends. I want to know everything about you. What organization hired you to enter this mine? Name your gods and your temples. I'm so curious to join your team and really get to know each and... hey, weren't there five of you a moment ago, counting the lizard?"
Go ahead and roll initiative. Nezznar aka Black Spider will join your team, if you let him, but something tells me that you are not.
Jyin speaks up, answering Black Spider's questions, "Why, my name is Jyin Tarn and I work for the Order of the Gauntlet. Funny thing about the Order, followers of Tyr will sometimes call us Torm-ites, because we revere Torm, the True God, but Torm-ites sounds like a bug, so it's kind of this hazing, but it's all in good fun."
“You and your cohorts have raided caravans and terrorized Phandalin and its citizens. In your own writing, you have instructed our deaths should we hinder your plans. You or others under your instruction have kidnapped and killed townsfolk and the Rockseekers brothers. All for your personal gain. There really is no path of redemption for you. You cannot join us, nor would any of us join you. You claim to surrender. I wonder if you comprehend the meaning of the word. Disarm yourself and order your spiders to stand down or this will end much more painfully for you than you may wish.”
Wilhorn continues to scan the chamber for the missing dwarf. And now the missing Daewen. He sets to Ready cast Bless to trigger the very moment he sees Daewen appear. The casting will be at second level to aid Daewen, Jyin, Vex AND Wilhorn.
(Hoping Daewen gets the boost before her strikes are made.)
