The Kobolds build a fire in the room where Calcryx was kept. They prepare the White Dragon for roasting. Yusdrayl will share Calcryx's heart with MEEPO.
After a while, MEEPO will bring the party sizeable portions of the White Dragon, "Itz...It has been good to serve with you," MEEPO says with great effort.
All the party gives the dragon meat a try, ERKY too. The flavor of the meat is unique. It almost has a fresh minty taste to it. But overall, it is palatable.
(Everyone note on your Character Sheets that you will get a +1 to your Saving Throw from any Cold Based attacks from now on.)
You will see the Kobolds enjoying the meal. The Kobold children have fun sucking on dragon toes. You will see the three Kobolds ERKY was held captive with. They are attending to MEEPO and do not leave his side.
Yusdrayl will later bring to the party a dark bottle with archaic Dwarvish script on it. RAGDOR will note that the bottle's writing indicates that its contents is a Duergar Whiskey. Yusdrayl will say, "We found a couple of bottles of this in the dark." She takes a swig and passes it to ERKY. The Gnome takes a swig. Immediately a drunken feeling comes over him. He smiles and hands the bottle to PORTIA.
(MEEPO is the only one hurt and his wounds are minor.)
Enjoying the food but will pass on the dark dwarf whiskey, never trusted those fellas....as we settle in for a long rest I'm gonna spend some time in prayer and preparation for tomorrow.
(Moving along. Please feel free to add in RPG activity from the prior day.)
The party has a good long rest.
DAY FIVE (+17 DAYS UNTIL THE SUMMER SOLSTICE)
ERKY plows through his spellbook, memorizing some of its content.
Yusdrayl will tell the party there is another way into the Goblin area though it is heavily trapped. But Yusdrayl knows how to bypass the traps. This is the route the Goblins took to take Calcryx.
(I have updated the Fortress Level Part 3 map, Yusdrayl throne room map. I have positioned the party along the trapped corridor, but in positions treating the pit trap as if it was not there. You can also go back the other way. Also, you have a key that might fit a door that you were unable to pass. Just let me know where the party goes next.)
Portiawill try a swig of the whisky. And will immediately (but silently) regret it with how strong it is. She gets up to move and immediately falls down, deciding that she will instead take a nap where she is unless anyone complained. If the party move somewhere else to sleep, she is small and light, and probably wouldn't wake up being carried.
(Is that +1 permanent?)
In the morning, with a mild headache from the single bit of whiskey she had, "I would love to go find the humans we were sent here for, but I also really want to go use this key. We might find something that could help us with fighting the goblins."
Glynt - knowing that most Kobolds he will meet won't be nearly as decent or forthcoming he doesn't want to waste the opportunity and as such and seeing the fairly swift damage done by the Duergar Whiskey he won't be touching that.
Instead will sit and chat to Meepo and Yusdrayl and listen to their legends, experiences and adventures of the clan, trying as always to expand his knowledge of the world and have more views and angles to draw upon when story telling and creating songs. (Basically doing Bardic Homework to build knowledge and world experience)
GLYNT will learn that Yusdrayl led this clan of Kobolds out of the Underdark over twenty years ago. Her home clan had become overcrowded, so when she with several others heard rumors of a sunken citadel devoted to dragons, it sounded like just to place to set up a new home. And here in the Sunless Citadel the clan of Yusdrayl became established.
Calcryx was hatched from an egg purchased from a merchant traveling the byways of the Underdark. And though Yusdrayl's clan worship Kurtulmak, they honor and revere dragons of all kinds. And as you now realize, Yusdrayl is more wise than what is typical of Kobolds. Yusdrayl had wondered before today how they were going to keep Calcryx long term, particularly if the White Dragon no longer wanted to be kept.
When GLYNT finally goes to bed he will see PORTIA and ERKY passes out side by side on the cold stone floor. They appear to be sleeping well.
(Where does the party go on Day Five. I think we have one vote for, "the Key Door." And one vote for, "I don't care.")
While packing for the days adventure, seems like we can use that key and see what's on the other side of that or...head back to the goblins and try to get a line on which those kids went. Thoughts?
(It sounds like the majority want to head to the door. I have reposted the link to the Fortress Level Part 1 map in the OOC thread.)
EDIT:
(To move things along.)
The party uses the key.
As the door opens, a hissing noise and a puff of dust around the door indicate that the chamber beyond has been sealed for ages. Dust, long undisturbed, covers every surface in this large gallery. The air here is stale.
Three alcoves are on the north wall, and one is on the south wall. Each alcove contains a dust-covered stone pedestal with a fist-sized crystalline globe resting on it. The globes in the northern alcoves are cracked and dark, but the globe in the southern alcove glows with a soft blue light. Faint tinkling notes issue from it.
Xanth will reach out to put a hand on his shoulder.
"Hold on just a sec I have a bad feeling. Could someone sense magic coming from though orbs? Or even check for traps? I know I am paranoid, but I am alive."
ERKY will say, "I have my spellbook now." He then looks at XANTH and says, "If you could watch over me while I do this, it would be much appreciated."
He then moves about ten feet into the room. He takes a moment to clear the dust off one of the floor stones. He then sits and begins to study his spellbook for a while. When he is finished the orb in the south alcove with its soft blue light glows a little more. Nothing else in the room glows. "There is definitely magic there," ERKY notes. "It's an enchantment of some kind." He then sighs, "That is about all I can do."
(By the way, the only light in the room is from the glowing orb, so ERKY would have needed some light. Without MEEPO the party no longer benefits from his Guidance. RAGDOR has the best Perception, and since others will be checking too, it can be rolled with Advantage. PORTIA has the best Investigation check with GLYNT close behind. So, that roll can be made with Advantage as well.)
Perception roll 8+4=12. Pulls the ever lite candle from my pack, lady Portia it's the best I can do for now, if'n you like I can hold it for if you need both hands.

(Cool I will take a +1 anytime.)
Xanth will go over to Meepo.
"I am sorry for your loss. I know you will come away from this stronger."
Other than the brief conversion with Meepo he will stay on the edge of the party and watch with a smile and take pleasure in the moment.

After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
(That +1 is permanent, even if we go beyond the Sunless Citadel. It was a form to grok with the White Dragon.)
ERKY will commiserate with PORTIA on the pounding in his head after just one gulp of the Duergar Whiskey.
(Erky has already determined that his long-term goals are best if he stays with the party. He will go where they go.)

Glynt will chime in "We can go to the Key Door if you want Portia and see if it works and what's behind it, providing we don't take too long."
"I agree let head to the door."

(Map Updated!)
Step toward the center of the room, taking a good look around....
Xanth will reach out to put a hand on his shoulder.
"Hold on just a sec I have a bad feeling. Could someone sense magic coming from though orbs? Or even check for traps? I know I am paranoid, but I am alive."

Portia will investigate for non magical traps (Investigation 26 including advantage for help, plus one for guidance)
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
(Does anyone else have guidance?)
(oh right, we lost Meepo. Take 1 off that)
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
PORTIA will not notice any non-magical traps throughout the room, assuming someone puts up a light. Which I am sure someone will get to that.
Perception roll 8+4=12. Pulls the ever lite candle from my pack, lady Portia it's the best I can do for now, if'n you like I can hold it for if you need both hands.
