Next time that we are passing YusdraylGlynt will say: "We are grateful for your hospitality oh wise Yusdraylith, the Underdark is breathtaking and the meal Meepo provided was fantastic. I must ask with all the Giant Rats and that Nasty big one, and then the Goblins on top of that as well as the Twig Blights and the Outcast ... Why are you living here if it's so dangerous?"
I'd like to cast detect magic as ritual while the food is being prepared, before we rest. I have one heal left in me before we rest, would anyone need it? If not then I might request the healing aid for myself, those rat bites hurt a good deal.
(If you haven't already done so, please take a LONG REST. This should restore all HPs.)
DAY FOUR (+18 DAYS UNTIL THE SUMMER SOLSTICE)
The party somehow feels stronger after this long rest in the Underdark.
The party then heads back toward the tunnel that leads up to the Sunless Citadel.
But just as you are about to make the turn north and into the tunnel, MEEPO will notice movement. Traveling from somewhere in the craggy reaches of the cave’s ceiling you see a large centipede like monstrosity, it is moving quickly down the cave walls as though it was flat ground. It is rapidly heading straight for the party.
MEEPO sighs, “Ize didz saze MOSTLY.”
ROLL FOR INITIATIVE
(Go ahead with Round One actions. I will post a new battle map in the OOC thread. It is not an exact representation of your environment, but it will be suitable for this encounter.)
(BTW- This will answer Glynt's future question. The Sunless Citadel is dangerous. The Underdark is far more dangerous, even if this little corner of the Underdark is less so than the other vast regions.)
(Learned something new. This is not the first time I have received the "This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results" message even though I did nothing to change the post. What I did was went to another tab in my browser and came back. I am thinking that very action alone caused the error message. So, if you make a roll in the thread just post and move on.)
A Crit is Double the Dice roll isn't it? ... if so that would take it up to a whopping 4 points of damage
(it depends on DM ruling. By default you roll double the dice (so 2d6 not 1d6). But I know some DMs who say roll once and double, and others who say roll once, and add the maximum, e.g. 1d6+6+modifer)
GLYNT will know this monstrosity to be a Carrion Crawler. They wander around looking for dead stuff to eat but will attack the living if hungry. This one is hungry. There is not much dead stuff in this little corner of the Underdark. You will know that they can paralyze their prey.
(As to Crits, and to keep things simple, just double the damage rolled. That way you don't need to roll again. Glynt will do 6 points of damage to the Carrion Crawler. Good start.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I am guessing the CC will move to attack the closest thing to it which will be Meepo unless he moves behind the tall man that is right behind him.
If the CC enter with in 10 feet of Xanth.
Attack: 24 Damage: 13
Polearm MasterPHB, pg. 168
When you take the Attack action with only a glaive, halberd, quarterstaff, or spear, you can use a bonus action to make a melee attack with the opposite end of the weapon that uses the same ability modifier as the primary attack and has a damage die of d4 (bludgeoning). While you are wielding a glaive, halberd, pike, quarterstaff, or spear, other creatures provoke an opportunity attack from you when they enter your reach.
MEEPOsigh again,“The bugz downz herez growz bigz.” He cast an Ice Knife spell at the monstrosity. It shatters and you can hear the creature squeal. MEEPO smiles to himself thinking how well that worked. He doesn’t get to use that one very often.
MEEPO smile fades as the CARRION CRAWLER quickly moves on the Kobold and strikes with both a tentacle ATT 16 DMG 4 (DC 13 CON SAVE) and its toothy maw. BITE ATT 6 DMG 7
(MEEPO was unable to react to XANTH’scall to get behind him in time.) MEEPO CON SAVE 9(If required)
GLYNT readies an arrow, fires it, and buries it deep into the CARRION CRAWLER’s worm-like hide.
XANTH strikes the big bug with his Glaive but misses with its butt. (In the future, just try rolling from the Character Sheet and posting the results.)
The sound of a dolorous bell fills the air for a moment as RAGDOR casts a cantrip at the CARRION CRAWLER.WIS SAVE 13
PORTIAsneaks up and attacks the tentacle creature. Her first strike failed to penetrate the creature's leathery hide, but the second strikes with sneaky precision.
(I moved Portia's token to the closest point where she could strike.)
MEEPO becomes paralyzed by the CARRION CRAWLER's poison.
The CARRION CRAWLER resist RAGDOR's cantrip. And then with one meal for later, it works on adding another. With its long tentacles it strikes out at XANTH. ATT 12 DMG 4 (DC13 CON SAVE). It then turns and bites at PORTIA. ATT 16 DMG 7.

RAGDOR will cast Detect Magic. He will not find anything else different from what the party already knows.
The night goes by pleasantly.

Glynt will ready an arrow and shoot at the Centipede thing
Initiative : 10
Attack with bow: 24
Damage (if hit): 3
Centipede thing Initiative 15
(I am thinking a 12 Nature check might identify this creature.)
Portia sighs and draws her shortswords again. She will engage with it, hopefully with someone else in melee too.
Initiative: 7
Attack 1: 11 to hit, 7 damage
Attack 2: 17 to hit, 1 damage.
Sneak attack if applicable, 3
(Glynt don't forget to roll some more damage for the crit)
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)

MEEPO initiative 21
MEEPO concerned that he led his new friends into danger, gives it his best.
He cast Ice Knife at the Carrion Crawler before it has an opportunity to engage. (It takes 8 points of damage and will need to make a DC 13 DEX save)
Carrion Crawler DEX 10
Xanth initiative 7

Meepo get behind me.
Attack: 24 Damage: 8
Attack off hand: 18 Damage: 5
This thing total changed my rolls. What do you want me to do DM?
(@Xanth - Let's wait on Ragdor's actions. You have a solid hit behind your spoiler.)
Additional Ice Knife Damage 6
int 10-1=9
draws hammer and cast Toll of the Dead cantrip - creature makes WS save DC 12 if failed then spell deals 4 damage unless already damaged then takes 7

(Now it is your actions.)
(This thing is nearly mindless and fights to the death. It does not have too many HPs left. A couple of good hits should do it.)
