"Thanks for the healing Erky and the inspiration Glynt. What was that?"

Ragdor walks up to, using the toe of his boot to push roll it over for a better look, indeed, what is it? Some mutant hobgoblin? The result of dark magics?

"I think I have seen toys that looked like them, Mage-Sprogs had one that looked very similar and I saw a display with them once ... Unless I am mistaken, and I could be, I do believe it was a Bugbear"

Bugbear? Never heard of such. Are they akin to owlbears? Ragdor shudders at the thought of an owlbear.

ERKY will say, "Bugbear.  Yes.  I have heard of them.  But I thought they had wings and a multitude of eyes."  When RAGDOR mentions Owlbear, he too shudders, "Owlbear.  I hope we don't run into one of them."

The Gnome then looks over the now dead Bugbear's body.  Besides the Crown of Antlers, studded leather armor, a shield, and a Morningstar, the creature had nothing else of value.  The Skeletons had rusted shovels and rusted wheelbarrows.  

"Is any of that stuff magic or worth keeping?"

Ragdor gets down and searches the body, not sure, we'll have a looksie at what this may have. I can try asking the Lady for arcane insight but the ritual would take an hour or so.

Let grab the stuff for now and get moving. Looks like we have the tunnel to the North where the Bug Bear came from and a door to the East and South. I think we should check the tunnel see if that was his quarte's.

When XANTH looks into the next area he sees that the floor of this rough cavern is stained and smells of blood and animal musk. Light from glowing fungus reveals the eastern niche, which holds a pallet of matted furs, a wide wooden board on which a variety of weapons are affixed, and a great cloak of patchy black fur hung on a slender pole. To the edge of the niche are two large nests made of hair, dry fungus, and refuse. A female humanoid with dark skin is chained to the cave wall toward the back left of this massive cave area.

Glynt will head over to the chained female and see if she's alive.

She looks up slowly and sees you all.  Where’s the bugbear'. Watch out,

Easy there lass, da'beastie is dead. (OOC did I find any keys on the bugbear's body?)

Now that we are closer, what does she look like?

All we know so far is Humanoid, but that’s a pretty big bucket. 

RAGDOR and the party did not find a key on the Bugbear's body.

ERKY will look at the captive female, "Dark Elf.  She is a Drow.  I have heard of them, dangerous they are."

PORTIA will begin looking around the room.
