And the nothic dies, its scream echoes in your mind as its eye closes. Dedear nods, "That was the right move. The creatures from Kholias are pure evil, they spread the darkness wherever they go. Is there much we wish to accomplish here? Shall we go rescue the others now?" His usually dour demeanour seems somewhat nervous.
Draíocht takes a moment to carefully dislodge his staff from the gears. He gives a look a somber thankfulness to Thelanis. "May as well." he says to Dedear.
You head down the tunnel into what is known as 'The Pit', where Chop keeps the prisoners. The ground starts to get muddy as you descend down, until you feet start to stick and you realise you can't walk any further without sinking in. About 30ft in front you see the other four dwarves, including Yuddic, chained to the top of the cave. They have been left hanging so that their legs and waists are submerged in the mud in front of you. It will be hard to get to them without sinking into the mud yourselves, and even then, you have to undo the chains on the roof.
Draíocht looks at the pit and mud. "I have an idea." he says, "But the dwarves might not like it."
[[ About how high up would you say the ceiling is and how tough would the chains be estimated at? Considering wildshaping into a giant spider. Strike the chains out. Spin web to keep them from sinking. ]]
The ceiling is 15ft up. The chains you could pretty easily untie, the're just sitting on hooks. Once you've webbed the dwarves, how would you then get them out of the pit though? Does anyone have any ideas how to pull them out of the mud pit?
Amiz looks at the mud and then at the chains. "At times like these I wish I had my rope. If anyone has rope, we can use those hooks on the ceiling to set up a simple pulley. Where one end is tossed to a dwarf and the other end to us so that we can yank them upwards out of this muck. Then Daroicht as a giant spider can retrieve them by spider climbing along the ceiling. What do all of you think of my plan?"
Athletics seems like an appropriate skill. It's incredibly easy for Draíocht to unhook the chains and then spread web along the floor of the mud if he uses a charge of his Wild Shape. As Yuddic is complaining about the web around him, Amiz performs an incredible stunt by slinging the rope over the hook and the dwarves are able to, one by one, grab onto the rope and pull themselves out of the mud, wading forward out of the sticky mud and onto the dryer ground where you all are. Yuddic pants as he thanks you all, "You've done a great job here, well worth the money, well worth it." He's still out of breath and distracted as he exclaims, "Let's get on the lift out of here, before Wrorak g'Ruek comes back up and finds us."
(I'm also awarding Inspiration to Amiz and Draíocht for their clever solving of this issue.)
Amiz coils up the rope and hands it back to Draiocht. "I am in agreement as we can leave Wrorak to Jagar and his friend." he then travels back to the lift and heads down to the storeroom level and travels out through the back. Making sure to retrieve his rope once they are back outside.
Is everyone else in agreement to leave the mine? You have effectively cleared out the top level. Only the bottom of the lift shaft has been unexplored, where you know Wrorak g'Ruek and the entrance to the Underworld reside. Yuddic and the other dwarves are definitely leaving this mine, and will follow Amiz out. Dedear looks at you all admiringly, and you feel he'd follow you further down if you went. Certainly Jagar and Mycette, along with the rest of The Eaters may clear the rest of the mine if you leave it, claiming it and the entrance to the Underworld. Of course, none of you have any real reason to go down any further if you don't want. It would certainly be safe just to leave now.
Just making sure you all are aware of the situation before you head out of here.
"We accomplished our goal. So it would seem logical to exit." says Draíocht. "Though I do have concerns of what plans Mycette may have for this mine. At the least worth telling Adger about." He glances at Yuddic, questions on his mind, but decides to hold them for a later time.
Alright, i'd say that's enough of you saying yes to pass a majority vote. You accompany the dwarves back down the lift a bit and then up through the back entrance of the mine. On youer way out you notice that the room that Jagar and Mycette were in is empty. Their light out and their belongings taken with them.

Valar also nods in agreement. "As this was a creature of darkness, we need to save those still held by the darkness. Let's press on."

Amiz will take one more look at the nothic then he heads back down and takes the lower path towards the imprisoned dwarves.

"I have some rope I could lend for that." replies Draíocht as he thinks about what Amiz says. "Your plan sounds good."

Barring any objections Amiz will take the offered rope and try to toss the rope so that it is threaded through the hook.
(I am not sure which skill should be used so I am going with athletics)
