"We bury them," Snug says, "Thank you. This is kindness most of your kind would not offer Hox and mine."
While the kobolds are being buried, Thane begins packing up camp. "Agreed, Fargim. I do not want us to exhaust ourselves after this interruption but we should at least move from this location. I can keep watch the rest of the night...should be easier now that we are all camped in one place,"he says with a slight glare toward Snug.
The following days are much less eventful. While it seems Jerem had told the truth of the orcs' location, they have moved on when you arrive. Thane and Fargim attempt to track the orcs for two tendays before Thane suggests stopping at a local roadside tavern for information. Along the way, the forest thins into a plain filled with a large herd of Wild Rothe. Thane approaches one on foot, then abruptly shoots it dead with an arrow. This causes the herd to scatter, and as they run Thane continues to fire arrow after arrow, killing as many as he can. "Kill them all. They won't feed any more orcs this winter!" Thane shouts.

Elrik wrestles internally with his respect for Thane's authority and his distaste for Thane's irrational outburst.
"Thane! Thane!" Elrik calls out. "Let's focus our weapons and wrath on the orcs rather than these innocent beasts. Find and kill the orcs, I say. Then there won't be any filthy orc mouths that need feeding."
The dwarf glances quickly at his fellow party members, hoping they might have some words of reason to offer.

Fargim is all for the clan, but this is getting a bit weird even for him.

Fargim shouts at Thane, "Stop it!" and it's with such intensity that Thane would have to make a Wisdom 12 saving throw or become charmed for an hour (Charm Person).
Volthero steps toward Thane and grabs his bow to force it pointing downwards. "A great strategy but foolish execution! If the Orcs become hungry and can't find these to eat where do you think they will turn to get their meat? Unless you are mustering a force to counter their scouting parties, you are hurting the locals more than any of the Orcs.
Your rage will give you strength but only if you're the one holding the reigns Thane." Volthero releases the bow and looks Thane in the eyes for a moment. He then draws a dagger and beings butchering the slain Rothe. "We will at least eat fresh meat this night."
Hox draws his daggers and starts to chase after the herd, screaming, "Meat for Hox!". He's a bit frantic for something new to eat, especially since it's free. He doesn't pay much attention to Thane's hate towards the orcs.

Thane immediately calms under the influence of Fargim's spell.
"Of course, small giant, I am not sure what came over me. We have been chasing for these orcs for so long, and tensions are high. Abby once meant the world to me, you understand."
He stows his longbow and for the first time, you see a friendly smile cross his face, as Hox stabs a Rothe to death in the background.
"There is a tavern a short ride ahead, let us regroup there and send a message to Roccar. I could use a drink."
Thane mounts up once more, and the Rothe herd quickly flees from range.
After hearing the rebukes of Fargim and Volthero, Elrik is pleased to see the sudden change in Thane's countenance. He is equally pleased to hear that a tavern might be soon be part of his future. "Aye! An excellent notion, Thane. A drink or two may be just the right sort of medicine for our troubled minds. We're long overdue for a bit of civilization."
Elrik then watches Hox as he runs recklessly after the herd of Rothe. "I don't know if I should worry about that lad...or laugh at him."
Fargim is visibly relieved about the situation calming down. "I know, Thane, I feel the same way about Abby. It's for her that we need to keep calm and be smart about the whole situation."
"Its to keep out heads on our shoulders that we need to be calm. Anger has its place on the battlefield but not in a command tent. I could use a pint or two Thane, let us go to this inn." Volthero begins searching his bags for something with a hood.
OOC: A fresh Rothe leg has been added to Hox's inventory.
An hour later, you reach a small roadside inn. A small sign in front advertises "roasted pig, and not much else". A larger sign marks this as the Pork on the Fork tavern.
Shortly after you enter, Thane shudders, and a mask of rage passes across his face. He whirls, picking Fargim up by the collar. "Use your magic on me like that one more time, gnome, and I will--"
"Thane! I've found you," Thane is interrupted by an old man in the corner. You quickly recognize Old Poe, who motions toward his table, muttering to himself. Thane glares at Fargim one last time before setting him down, and then greets Poe at his table.
Still muttering to himself, Old Poe shakily pulls out a map. "Roccar and I have been trying to find you. Been doing some searchin' my own self. Found an orc named Scar trading for weapons." His wrinkled finger points to a foothill not a tenday away.

Fargim stomps outside, turns the corner, finds a bunch if boulderd and goes hides in between of these (14 for hide). He then proceeds to exhale and cry for a while. (That's actuall 11+2=13 for stealth, forgot to add the modifier)
Elrik makes an awkward attempt to comfort Fargim. "Don't be troubled, lad. Thane was out of line, not you. Something to drink for you?"
The dwarf then steps into the tavern and orders up the tallest tankard of the darkest ale the place might have. He sits a short distance from Poe, Roccar, and Thane and keeps silent as he wonders what he might have done if Thane had actually attempted to harm Fargim. Elrik recognizes right away that he's ready to meet drunkenness face to face. Several hard days in the saddle, his sadness about the slain kobolds, Abby's seemingly tragic fate, and his growing loathing for orcs, all of these push the dwarf to gulp down his first ale and quickly order a second...

Hox offers the Rothe leg to Old Poe, "For know of orc." He then looks out of the tavern as Thane called Farqim a gnome. He looks quizzically at the ranger, wondering if the man mistook him for a gnome as well. Hox shrugs as he ducks under a table. He starts to scope out the valuables on the other patrons and the staff there.
"It is good to see that you are well Old Poe. What else can you tell us of this orc? Does he have any dealings with the Longhunts?" Volthero pulls a hood up over his head and face as they approach the tavern. Once inside he quickly orders a pint and takes a seat with Old Poe and Thane.
OOC: 8 copper pieces have been paid from Elrik's inventory, and 4 copper pieces from Volthero's inventory for the ale.
"Would've expected the dwarf to be the first to start a fight tonight. Keep an eye on your friend, will you? It's not too often that we see dwarves out this far on the Fork, but you're certainly welcome. You're excellent customers," the bartender says to Elrik with a wink.
"Ah, thank you Hox, it is great to see you again,"Old Poe gratefully says. He moves to bite into the leg raw before Thane moves it away from him with a glare. Diana, having been fed up with Old Poe's antics long ago, takes the opportunity to sneak away from the tavern, on her way to a new adventure.
Hox seems to meld into the floorboards, disappearing from view as quickly as he appeared. Looking around the room, he notes a traveler well into his drinking for the night, with a pack that wouldn't be too difficult to reach into.
Old Poe chuckles happily in response to Volthero's question. "Thought you'd never ask! You see, Scar's the chief of the Longhunts! Seems to be obsessed with gathering weapons. There's no good way to approach them, it's like chasing the wind. Lest thou have steel."
"It seems we have finally found them,"Thane exclaims, "This news is much needed, Poe."
After gathering the party, he continues, "Our goal is finally in sight. If we approach as traders, we can scout the Longhunt camp from the inside. Attacking in the middle of them is most likely impossible, but we can find Abby this way, and figure out where to best strike under cover of night. Poe can bring our plan to Roccar and his Reavers. Let us rest tonight and press on in the morning!"
Fargim feels better the next morning. He walks up to Thane, "I apologize, I don't have full control of my magic just yet. It got really intense and just somehow happened without myself realizing. I hope that you can forgive me and that we can continue looking for Abby together."

Fargim turns to Thane, "Thane, I think we should change the camp site. If the peddlers found us this easily then others may as well."
"Well, some kobolds are lost and that was worth for us 20 gp, do we still wanna camp here?"
"We bury them," Snug says, "Thank you. This is kindness most of your kind would not offer Hox and mine."
