Elrik is happy to see that Thane's mood has lightened somewhat. The barbarian's words if we approach as traders do make the dwarf a bit nervous, however. Nonetheless, Elrik is eager to continue.

Hox darts about and goes for the traveler's pack. He takes a moment to look in the pack. If he took the stuff inside pack, if it'd leave the person weaponless or not. If it does, he leaves the dagger he stole from the peddlers and take something about it's size. If not, he'll take anything that is the shiniest. Afterwards he rejoin the group for their rest.
"I like the sounds of this plan. Do you think word of our party has reached Scar's ears? If not a Hobgoblin trading weapons should be ushered in to talk and would displace some suspicion from our group. We should acquire at least some good to take if we're to get past basic scrutiny."

"Fargim, you have used those skills to great effect on this mission. You do not have to explain yourself to me. Just keep them pointed at the enemy, please,"Thane says.
"Volthero, I believe it is to our advantage that we approach with a hobgoblin and a kobold amongst us. Some of your own kind are part of the southern orc clans. Let us be on our way in the morning."
Hox sees the glimmer of a small figure in the traveler's back and quickly grabs it before darting away stealthily. Looking down at the object, he realizes that the glimmer was actually a silver piece, and the small figure is a small wooden statuette, carved into the figure of a rather smug halfling.
Fargim takes up his place at Thanes side as they move out.
"If it's helpful, I can use a disguise like we did earlier when we met the larger band of kobolds. Not sure if three is better than two there, but it's an option. It doesn't last that long though, so I'll have to do it once we're close to them."
After that thought, he actually drops back in line and rides next to Hox.
"You wouldn't mind that, Hox, would you? Maybe you can teach me more about how to behave as a kobold and how it is to be one of your kind. Do you have family somewhere or how does that work? I don't have one, but you already know that."
OOC: The silver piece and wooden halfling statuette have been added to Hox's inventory.
Thane thinks about Fargim's idea for a moment. "It would be very helpful, but I would caution against anything artificial in nature that may give us away at a bad moment. We will likely be watched closely if we are trading with the chief himself. How long does this disguise last, and do you think you would be able to use it in enough time?" he asks.
"I will go with you to make the introductions and then find Roccar,"Old Poe says.
Thane replaces his ranger gear with a more simple shirt, attempting to as unscrupulous as the peddlers-turned-bandits you ran into earlier, and suggests you do the same. The road is quiet, and as the sun begins to set, Poe points out the orc rearguard in the distance. "They should recognize me from the other day. So long as you don't do nothin' stupid, Scar'll be more interested in your wares than your lives. Thane's shortswords are magical in nature and should draw enough interest, but if any of you have other goods to offer that can't hurt nothin',"he offers.
"I have nothing but plain weapons with me. I can part with some for no trouble if it comes to that. Fagrim it would be wiser to have a practical disguise over a magical one. Our band wouldn't fit well to have a child but goblin would fit in. You could also just pretend to be a gnome, no one would guess your giant heritage." As Volthero is speaking his last statement to Fagrim he noticeably looks down and away while he also drops his volume. He quickly begins rummaging in his bags and pulls out his Handaxe and Dagger.
Elrik grimaces at the thought of shedding his chain mail. "Strolling into the enemy's camp half-naked, that's what it'll be, I say."
After stuffing his armor into his pack, Elrik hops on his horse and rides along with the group. "A warhammer and a pair of handaxes, lads. That's all I can offer. The chain mail isn't for sale!"
Hox takes out a shortsword, the wooden figure, and the dagger he stole from the peddlers. He takes off his leather armor and leaves on his undergarments, a raggedy loincloth. "Sword too big, Hox likes stabbers. Other stuff Hox found while riding."
Before long, you have hailed the rearguard. They seem to recognize the eccentric Old Poe and grimly nod at his introductions, escorting you through the Longhunt camp.
The camp is in the midst of packing up and moving already, and their numbers are massive. You've seen the Reavers at work before, but any distraction they could make would only provide protection for a short period of time. The chieftain's massive tent is obvious, in the middle of camp and surrounded by some sort of honor guard.
Inside the tent, Scar sits on a high chair. The source of his name is obvious, as a deep scar cuts across his bestial face. Thane lays out his well-crafted shortswords and some other simple wares, beckoning you to do the same. Scar inspects the wares, intrigued by the sight of the shortswords but otherwise looking bored.
To the left, a circle of leather cloaked figures sit in shadows. When Thane's attention is drawn to them, Scar growls in an unknown language. A half-orc translator struggles with Common, "Mans kill Chief's sons, so for each sons, Scar take many...faces for his wives."
Scar grunts a command and leans forward, intently studying Thane. A small figure stands up from the circle of wives. It is Abby. She wears a large hooded tunic made from sewn together human faces. She obediently displays it for Scar's guests. Thane stares emotionlessly at Scar. "We've seen orc leatherwork before,"he says.
"Seen this before?" Scar suddenly speaks in Common. He holds up a jade necklace from his armor. Thane blinks but recovers quickly. "We came to talk business, not admire jewelry. We'll come back tomorrow." Thane starts walking out, motioning for you to follow quickly. Scar's sentries move to block you, but the Chief waves them away and grunts ominously, "Tomorrow. Business."
Fargim is very very scared, but holds himself together until the group is outside of the orc camp again. "DID YOU SEE?!! That was Abby!! What are we going to do?"
"Dying is battle is honorable but disfiguring those slain is for beast. If we can kill Scar it will start some infighting until the void of leadership is filled. Unfortunately we would be their focus before that would take place.
Old Poe, in your dealings with the Orc has any of them seem chaffed by their leadership? A Usurper we can make a deal with might split their forces enough for us to survive a confrontation."
"Let's get some distance and set up camp for the night, Fargim,"Thane says. "
Old Poe thinks for a moment before answering. "Orcs is always infighting, Volthero, though I don't know of any usurpers. Could also be Scar's all that's holding the Longhunts together. If we cut off the head..." he trails off and starts whistling a tune.
Thane and Fargim find a good spot to camp, but the quiet is disrupted as you prepare to take watches for the night.
From the darkness in the woods surrounding the camp, you hear a female voice cry out in a harsh language. Thane face fills with rage, but he listens grimly without answering. Signaling to remain quiet, he slowly readies his bow.
Fargim is suspicious of everything being so recently in the Longhunt camp. He will take out a small piece of cloth and mutter a few words to himself in low voice (cast Resistance on himself). He will then grab two rocks and squat down next to Thane, "What was that?" And turning to the others, "Did anyone understand that?"

The voice jog's Elrik's memory, and he recognizes it as Abby's. Studying intently, he can tell that Thane recognizes this as well, and is listening to hone in on Abby's location. Neither he nor Elrik is able to determine exactly where the voice is coming from in the trees and the darkness.
The same voice pleads in Common, "Go! Leave me. I prayed you would save me, but you didn't. These are my people now. This is my child. Go! Before Scar slays you all."
Thane roars and snaps up his longbow, clearly looking for a shot. His eyes are wild with rage.
OOC: This is another "social encounter", a unique segment within the campaign that works off of character responses. How does each character respond to Thane's actions, in either first or third person?
"It seems Abby has made her choice Thane. I would say the death of Scar would make her reassess her position once all the chaos breaks out. Do we need to find another camp site or will still be safer here?"
Volthero states this as a matter of fact and begins to look around for anything that sticks out as a better camping ground.
Fargim will bolt forward, towards the voice and this time intensifies his voice intentionally, saying "Come with us Abby, quickly!" (darkvision 120 ft, casting Charm Person on her if possible (Wis save 12)).
