The lightning jumps from the flower stand elf to K, where it encircles him a few times before darting into the dragon tooth.
At that moment, those previously zapped and under its spell drop to the ground unconscious, but alive.
Just then, Sildar and Madame Freona enter the scene.
Sildar hurries to the collapsed people to ensure they are alive and okay.
Madame Freona calls to Blaizette and Grelinda to fetch the goodberries. They arrive and feed one to each of the unconscious people: Yanna, the dwarven woman, Schuyler, Surruk, the dwarven girl, and the elven man. They all awaken, confused and tired.
Sildar questions Yanna about the dragon tooth. Yanna says that he bought it off of a traveling merchant and hoped to turn a small profit selling it to the Ironworkers' Guild, as he was told it helped heat and work metal.
Satisfied, Sildar thanks you for your help tonight and, for the tooth, hands you 100gp and a healing potion. He takes the tooth and tells you he'll turn it in to the Lord's Alliance, which has researchers who will study it.
When things settle later in their room, Badger will want to have a conversation with Ash.
"Brother, we are meant to be reliable heroes protecting the innocent. We can't shoot random civilians on a hunch. It worked out this time, but we really must be careful to only injure the bad guys."
After being scolded by Badger, Ash responds, "She was fleeing from a scene where someone was potentially murdered. One might say that isn't an innocent act. And I took an intentionally nonlethal shot. I'm happy with how it all went."
OOC: are we splitting the funds, or should Badger handle our inventory, or...?
Badger replies, "That's a fair perspective, Ash, and I will need to trust both of you in this. Just promise me that we're keeping our heads about us."
OOC: Badger can keep money inventory, and we can assign items as we see fit. I think it makes the most sense for one or you two to take the healing potion, as Badger will have other healing options soon.
Ash simply nods in response to Badger. He goes to bed a bit huffy for being called out, but the party is used to his moods, and he is perfectly fine in the morning.
OOC: let's give K the healing potion and Badger all the gold.
Badger wakes up and requests help from K with donning his suit of armor. He's clearly eager to get a start on the day and get a new mission from Sildar or his emissary.
"If we find a messenger, we should pay a few silver to send an early update home." He spends the remaining time before breakfast to write a note about their early success.
Ash rolls out of bed and leads the way downstairs. He orders a nice big breakfast to celebrate the big win last night and eats with reckless abandon and few manners.
The lodging and food for the three of you to this point comes to 4gp.
As you reach the end of your meal, you see a dwarven man wearing dirty workman's clothes enter in an apparent rush. He glances around and, noticing you, hurries to your table.
"Are you the three what helped Sir Hallwinter last night with the blue crackly bits? He says to look for the two short ones with the orc-y."
Upon confirmation, he continues, "I am Balkham, cousin of the Rockseeker brothers who's done hired Sir Hallwinter for a job. They had to hurry and skedaddle earlier than what's expected this morn and asked me to relay a message."
"A hundred more gold is in it for you to follow the High Road south to the Triboar Trail and then east to a village called Phandalin south. Gundren, my cousin, and Sir Hallwinter had to ride ahead to tend to some alarming business and are left to hire you lot to protect their provision and whatnot."
"Well, will you accept the job and protect a wagonload of supplies to Phandalin? It's about a three day journey. Mighty fine payment if you ask me for such easy work. Me, I toil in the smithy all and every day for a few moons to make that. Well? What says you?"
Badger replies, "We'd be honored to continue to help Sir Hallwinter. Say do you happen to know of a messenger or how to get a message east? We'd like to send this message to Bramble. If you could see to it gets sent, here's 5 silver for your troubles." He holds out the sealed message and a few coins.
Badger, you see no one else in the area with safflowers or purple-hued wood.
Badger doesn't know how to help from here. He calls even more loudly for Sildar, who hopefully knows how to end this.
Kristofferson grabs the tooth from Badger, runs to the flower stand, and grabs as many safflower necklaces as he can. He then braces for impact.

The anxiety from potentially getting zombified by the blue lightning melts away, and Kristofferson cheers. "Woo, we did it! Well done both of you!"
Badger also cheers. "Woohoo!"
When things settle later in their room, Badger will want to have a conversation with Ash.
"Brother, we are meant to be reliable heroes protecting the innocent. We can't shoot random civilians on a hunch. It worked out this time, but we really must be careful to only injure the bad guys."
Before you retire to your room, Madame Freona thanks you for regaining the peace in her tavern and for doing so without any death.
Sildar also mentions that he might have more work for you if you're interested. He plans to send someone your way in the morning.
Roleplay the evening as you please, and then you achieve a long rest.
Ash hoots with the others.
After being scolded by Badger, Ash responds, "She was fleeing from a scene where someone was potentially murdered. One might say that isn't an innocent act. And I took an intentionally nonlethal shot. I'm happy with how it all went."

Kristofferson stays out of the argument. When it is quiet, he meditates for an hour and then goes to sleep. He is fine with however they do inventory.
Ash simply nods in response to Badger. He goes to bed a bit huffy for being called out, but the party is used to his moods, and he is perfectly fine in the morning.
OOC: let's give K the healing potion and Badger all the gold.
You all also level up to level 2!
Kristofferson rises first and meditates until the other two are awake.

Balkham accepts the message and coins. "I can see to it, mister, surely I can. Bramble will hear your message."
"It isn't Sir Hallwinter that's hiring you now, know that, it's my cousin Gundren. He's what pays you when the supplies are safe in Phandy."
Kristofferson says to Ash and Badger, "We have no reason to distrust Sir Hallwinter. Shall we visit a few shops on our way out of town?"
Badger asks, "What do you have in mind, K? Is there something you need? We have rations and ammo already."
