Ash tries to keep up with K, running forward, but stops after his 25' and shoots his shortbow at goblin 2. 25 to hit (crit! 18 with disadvantage if out of range), 13 piercing damage (or 9 if not a crit).
Badger grimaces from the arrow that hits him, but his attention is on the goblin right in front of him. He takes a swing with his battleaxe, but misses (9 to hit). "Ash! Kristofferson!" He prepares for defending against more attacks.
Goblin 3 swings at Badger again, but again Badger blocks the effort with his shield.. (17 to hit)
Goblin 4 let's another arrow loose at Badger, this time the arrow glances off his armor to no effect. (15 to hit) He then moves north and east to the north side of the road. He uses Nimble Escape to Hide. None of you see where he is now.
You exit the thick woods onto the road. 30' west, you see a little goblin attacking your larger half-orc friend with a rusty shortsword. You see an arrow sticking out of his right shoulder. You have 20' of movement left.
Ash: In this case, Badger hasn't used a bonus or free action, so I'll allow him to answer and then for you to act, but you use your bonus action for the brief conversation. You have 10' of movement left.
"No! Another shot me and ran into the woods!" Badger points to the arrow sticking out of his shoulder and then towards the north woods where the goblin entered.
The goblin darts out of his hiding place and dashes further into the woods. He again uses his nimble escape ability to Hide in a collection of four shrubs. He is now 75' north of you.
Ash runs north 25' and fires an arrow into the shrubs (the second one, if that matters). 9 to hit (with disadvantage for unseen target), 7 piercing damage.
K: you find no useful items or clues on the goblin. The fletching on the arrows in the horses match what you saw in Badger's shoulder. The saddlebags have been looted, and there is an empty, finely-made leather map case nearby.
Ash: you hear no result from your arrow, so you can safely assume you missed.
"Hold now Ash! Let it go. We can track it to find where they're hiding and possibly find some more clues about what has happened here. We can't go too far from the goods me must deliver for Gundren. I'd rather get paid 100 gold than owe it." Badgers waits to return to the road with Ash.
K, you gain half cover behind a shrub and are about 10' from the goblin.
Ash is up.
Ash tries to keep up with K, running forward, but stops after his 25' and shoots his shortbow at goblin 2. 25 to hit (crit! 18 with disadvantage if out of range), 13 piercing damage (or 9 if not a crit).
Ash: you were just out of range, so the hit is not a crit, but it is still enough to drop goblin 2.
Badger is up!
Badger grimaces from the arrow that hits him, but his attention is on the goblin right in front of him. He takes a swing with his battleaxe, but misses (9 to hit). "Ash! Kristofferson!" He prepares for defending against more attacks.
Goblins 1 and 2 are dead.
K runs south now, back to the road. About where am I in relation to Badger, the goblins, etc?
You exit the thick woods onto the road. 30' west, you see a little goblin attacking your larger half-orc friend with a rusty shortsword. You see an arrow sticking out of his right shoulder. You have 20' of movement left.
"Hells." He moves west 20' and throws a dart at the goblin's back. 22 to hit, 6 piercing damage (finally!)
Goblin 3 drops and is dead.
Ash is up, but you are unaware of the whereabouts, and even the existence, of a fourth goblin.
Ash runs back to the road and sees the dead goblin. "Did we get them all?"
Can I act after getting an answer?
Ash: In this case, Badger hasn't used a bonus or free action, so I'll allow him to answer and then for you to act, but you use your bonus action for the brief conversation. You have 10' of movement left.
"No! Another shot me and ran into the woods!" Badger points to the arrow sticking out of his shoulder and then towards the north woods where the goblin entered.
Ash uses his remaining movement to enter the woods again. He'll use his action to try to find the goblin.
Perception: 6
Badger pulls the arrow from his shoulder and runs to follow Ash. He also tries to find the goblin.
Perception: 15
Neither of you find the goblin.
The goblin darts out of his hiding place and dashes further into the woods. He again uses his nimble escape ability to Hide in a collection of four shrubs. He is now 75' north of you.
K is up!
K stays by the wagon to protect it. He'll inspect the dead goblin and the dead horses.
Investigation: 17
Ash runs north 25' and fires an arrow into the shrubs (the second one, if that matters). 9 to hit (with disadvantage for unseen target), 7 piercing damage.

The goblin again darts from the shrubs, dashes, and hides. It is now 110' north of Ash and hidden in thicker and thicker shrubbery.
