Thromkor moves 25 feet to the east to stand just south of Redleaf. His eyes are on the man being held in place by Tibold, but he lifts his ebony staff into the air with both hands and speaks a few words in Draconic. The staff's orb flashes and a frigid beam of blue-white light streaks toward the man in the chain shirt doing 8 points of damage.
Cole moves up to stand directly to the north of the man in the chain shirt. Concentrating as he is on Redleaf who is standing directly in front of him, he does not see Cole until it is too late, and Cole manages to successfully strike him in the back of his leg with his club for 7 points of damage.
Tibold wipes the empathetic tears from his eyes with one hand as he plays a chromatic passage with the other, humming along as he glares at the man in the chain shirt. The obviously doesn’t think much of Tibold’s taste in music because he cringes and initially holds his ears, but he then stands up and scowls at Tibold having taken 5 points of damage.
Gotrek quickly glances over his shoulder and says to Thromkor and Timbold, "If you guys want to question someone, the misty guys is all yours for now. I am going to play with the whining person in chainmail." As he says this he turns and grins at the man before charging at him, colliding with his shoulder doing 8 points of damage and following up with a big swing from his Great-Axe for a further 15 points of damage.
"How cute. Did yer momma teach you that everything has to be equal?" Redleaf taunts as she tickles the man in chain shirt in the with her Warhammer for 6 points of damage. "Well she lied."
Lanoros nods at Phantom who leaves his new toy with some hesitation before charging off and swiping at the man in the chain shirt for 5 points of damage dropping him to the ground. He goes to bite at the man and thinks better of it before wandering back to his new toy.
Polly starts to swoop down on where the man in the chain shirt had been standing and realizing he was no longer a threat returns to where he had been hovering.
The man in furs (OES) continues to struggle to free himself from Tibold’s Hold Person but is unable to do so.
Thromkor you're up and then back to the beginning of the order
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thromkor completes his trek by ending up behind the man in furs. He takes out his hempen rope and binds the man's hands behind his back with one end. "Would one of you stronger fellows like to come hold on to this one while we question him?" Thromkor leans toward the man's ear, speaking calmly. "If you're good and answer all of our questions, we'll kill you quickly. If not, the cat will feast on your balls as you watch."
Just as Cairn comes galumphing up - do Ankheg's galumph - Gotrek notices Olaf look quickly over his right shoulder and you here him mutter something like '.... outa 'ere, but I'll ..." and he disappears.
Gotrek suddenly yells out "the bugger's disappeared but I think he's over there" he says pointing 30 feet to the north-east into the very difficult terrain.
Redleaf looks around the camp and sighs before walking towards Thromkor. "Did we learn anything useful? I have no problem trying things yer way but with cultists, diplomacy usually don't work."
She points to the pile of stuff. "I found some money, a few swords and shields. I took 3 suns and this shield if you don't mind. My funds were running low bribing people in town."
Ooc: 58 nibs (CP) | 53 shards (SP) | 7 sambars (EP) | 14 dragons (GP) | 3 suns (PP) worth in total 53½ GP. The only other thing of note are the shark-tooth encrusted longswords - they do an extra 1d8 of damage to opponents not wearing armour.
Thromkor's head jerks toward Gotrek when he yells and then in the direction he's pointing. As RedLeaf talks to him, the dragonborn continues to stare toward the northeast. "I ... uh ... " Finally, he looks at the she-dwarf. "Of course," he says bravely, turning his eyes to the pile and clearing his throat before looking up again. "We know the Black Earthers were involved, and another source of information we can use is this 'Shoalar'. We also know the delegation ... what's left of them ... was taken a dozen miles downstream from some stone bridge about a 10-day ago." He nods. "I — I think we can forget Olaf since we're heading south." He looks around the group and then points to a couple tents. "These might be useful as well. Anyone who wants one should pack up and let's keep going." Thromkor quickly limps over to one of the tents and begins packing it up.
After the intial surprise of Olaf's disappearance act, Gotrek gets up and as he heads to Redleafs pile he says, "Ignore him, the slippery bastard isn't worth the effort. On the chance what he said about the Black Earther's is true and they did cross the river about 12 miles downstream. The trail is only going to get colder, so we best leave now if we want any chance of finding them." Gotrek then picks up the shark-toothed swords, admiring them. "If no-one minds, I will take these beauties and forgo my share of coins." With that he collects his gear, wraps one sword up and stoes it in his pack, whilst putting the other one with in easy reach and waits at the river, ready to follow it downstream.
OOC: Running the coins (minus the platinum that RedLeaf took, and minus Gotrek, who said he'd take the swords in lieu of any coin) through a calculator, the six remaining players would get 9 CP, 8 SP, 1 EP, and 2 GP with excess of 4 CP, 5 SP, 1 EP, and 2 GP. Once we get to civilization, we could exchange the excess gold and electrum into silver and each get 5 SP with just the 4 CP left over. So, I suggest each of us six add the first calculation into our inventory and somebody should keep track of the excess for later. Everybody OK with that?
Upon hearing the excitement as Olaf disappears, Polly pipes up and says “was that Olaf Jankeelhauldedson you had tied up. Me and my mates, bless their departed souls, ‘eard about ‘im when was working the Sword Coast. He used to sling his ‘ook with a bloke called Shoalar Quanderil. Nobodies sure who was the boss and who was the servant but ya never met a worse duo and ‘e, Olaf that is, never forgot or forgave an injury or an insult. And you let ‘im go!” He thinks for a minute and then says “ya know, I hear the Inner Sea is real good at this time of year so I’m ‘eading south.”
At this point Sirahane says “I too must leave and inform the Belabranata family that I have seen Lady Savra and she appears well” she thinks for a minute and then continues “but I’m still not absolutely sure”.She then turns to Polly and says “perhaps we could journey together at least until Waterdeep and mayhap further?”
The remainder of the party continues east along the path searching for the Black Earther’s hidden encampment. After about two hours, it is now close to lunchtime, they see yet another trail heading off to the north deep into the Sumber Hills.
Gotrek stops at where the trail forks off. "What do ya think? I want to say keep to the river to continue on the trail but my gut says the hills as the chances are any trail left by the Black Earthers after they crossed the river will be long cold by now." He says, looking frustrated. "An' given what Polly said about Olaf, I shoulder have never loosened my grip.." Gotrek then turns to Redleaf, "You like making decisions, and you haven't let us down yet. Your choice."
"These black Earthers that everyone is calling them is an earth cult serving an Evil earth elemental Prince. I would say their base would be somewhere surrounded by a lot of earth. I suggest we go North, deeper into the hills." With that Redleaf heads north.
As the party (Redleaf, Gotrek, Lanoros/Phantom, Cole, Tibold & Thromkor) follows the trail deeper into the hills, they notice that it becomes ever-narrowing and sandstone cliffs loom above them. Eventually the walls draw in so closely that you can reach out and touch either side, but then the narrow space opens into a hidden canyon in the heart of the hills.
A sprawling monastery with dark, narrow windows and red tile rooftops stands in the middle of this natural amphitheater, ringed by sandstone cliffs all around. Ahead, a weathered flight of stone steps leads up to the closed monastery doors. The plain doors are made of heavy timber with iron studs. A dusty footpath heads off to the left and right of the building.
"I doubt knocking would be a good idea if we plan on taking on the people inside. We should see where those footpaths lead to." Redleaf says as she points to either side of the building.

Tibold surveys the carnage with distaste.
"It would be wise to tie him up before questioning him," he calls to Cole and Thromkor.
"And do it quickly, you only have a bit of time left." Tibold strolls to within about 10 feet of the man in furs.
And that's all I have to say about that.
