Cole mutters to himself “if you hit the stone and it doesn’t break, you aren’t hitting hard enough” as he strikes again at the second Gargoyle with his club. Unfortunately he is u nable to test the theory as the club swing goes nowhere near its target. Rather than break his knuckles on the Gargoyles rock-hard skin Cole again opts for a Palm Strike rather than a closed fist. He does so successfully but dense flesh absorbs most of the impact and he only does 4 points of bludgeoning damage. Tibold yells out at the second Gargoyle "even for statues, you're not doing much, but what else could I expect from a piece of schist like you?" It is a pity that the Gargoyle only speaks Terran because the insult was a gem. Struggling to understand the foreign language obviously both hurts the Gargoyle’s small brain (4 points of psychic damage) and means it can concentrate on biting Cole. As a matter of a fact it looks like it didn’t even manage to open its mouth but rather attempted to head-butt the Halfling. Its swipe is more effective but Cole easily ducks down and the Gargoyle’s claw swishes over his head.
Thromkor raises a clawed hand at the first Gargoyle and as he speaks a few words in Draconic, numbing frost forms on its hide. Not only does this do 2 points of cold damage but the ice slows downs the Gargoyle’s movement that it cannot take full advantage of the opening created by Gotrek’s reckless attacks. Giving life to an age-old dwarvish saying if ‘it aint broke don’t fiddle’ it’ or as elves who ride horses would say ‘don’t change horses in mid-stream’ Gotrek simply knees the Gargoyle in the groin again but only does 6 points of bludgeoning damage. The Gargoyle falls the trick again – nobody said they were smart – and fails to see the Great Axe swinging for its neck and almost chopping in deeply. The Gargoyle’s dense stone-like flesh means that a blow which should have chopped off its head only does 7 points of slashing damage. Despite the ice on its skin slowing it down, its very sore balls and the deep wound in its neck, the Gargoyle manages to both bite Gotrek for 5 points of piercing damage and swipe him with its claws for a further 4 points of slashing damage.
"You shale be destroyed!" Tibold calls to Gargoyle #2, grinning. Almost as an aside to Cole he remarks "it'd be more fun if your opponent were a little boulder."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gotrek grins at the Gargoyle, "If I wasn't in the middle of destroying you, I would give you a bow in respect, as your nuts must be made of stone to be able to withstand this much punishment." Laughing at his joke, "Or I could just do it again."
Gotrek the throws another knee into the gargoyles groin before following up with another wild swing of his axe (Reckless)
Cole’s admonition of himself last round finally bears fruit as he successfully hits with his club for only 2 points of bludgeoning damage due to the second Gargoyle’s rock hard skin and dense flesh. The jarring nature of his strike means that he is not able to put all his energy into his follow-up palm strike and while hitting he fails to do damage. His comment “trust me, this almost hurts me more than it hurts you” is an accurate summation.
Tibold continues to insult the second Gargoyle "you shale be destroyed!" he yells and in an aside to Cole says "it'd be more fun if your opponent were a little boulder."The puns are absolutely schist and rocky at best. The Gargoyoles neurons obviously move at a geological pace as it fails to understand the depth of Tibold’s mockery taking 2 points of psychic damage.
The Gargoyle confused by Tibold’s mockery bites its own tongue as it attempts to bite Cole taking 2 points of piercing damage. It howls something in Terran and swipes with it claws at Cole slashing him across the face for 8 points of slashing damage.
Thromkor places his hand on Cole's shoulder and in his deep gravelly speaks a few words in Draconic. Cole feels an inner warmth and the slashes on his face start to close over as a result of the 11 points of healing from Thromkor.
Gotrek grins at the Gargoyle, "if I wasn't in the middle of destroying you, I would give you a bow in respect, as your nuts must be made of stone to be able to withstand this much punishment." Laughing at his joke he continues, "or I could just do it again." Gotrek proves that like most males he is incapable of multi-tasking; in this case talking and fighting. He manages to hammer his knee into the first Gargoyle’s thigh and fails to do any significant damage, while he just plain misses with his Great Axe.
The Gargoyle just grins at Gotrek and doesn’t waste any effort talking, it simply bites down hard on Gotrek’s arm for 3 points of piercing damage. At the same time it then swipes Gotrek across the abdomen for a further 7 points of slashing damage.
Tibold winces as Gotrek's skin is shredded. He hurries over to the dwarf, laying a hand on his shoulder and muttering the healing spell so familiar to all by now.
Thromkor holds up his staff again, speaking a few words in Draconic. He reaches out and places his free hand to Gotrek's shoulder. After the first couple words, a second clawed hand splits from the first and reaches over to touch Cole. The hands glow briefly and then the orb at the top of his staff flashes, healing the monk's and barbarian's wounds.
Cole quickly turns to Tibold and says “it’s time to take a chip off the old block of you know what I mean” as he attempts to smash the second Gargoyle with his club. Whilst he hits, its dense structure means he jarrs his hand and fails to do any damage. His palm strike to the Gargoyle’s head is successful, and although a large part of the damage is absorbed by the Gargoyle’s structure, one of its ears (a chip in effect) is broken off as Cole does 3 points of bludgeoning damage.
Tibold winces as sees Gotrek's skin being shredded. He hurries over to the dwarf, and lays a hand on his shoulder and mutters the healing spell so familiar to all by now. The wound in Gotrek’s abdomen closes over and bite on his arm stops bleeding as he is healed for 9 points.
The second gargoyle reaches up and feels where its left ear used to be and growls at Cole before lunging forward and biting him on the ear for 7 points of piercing damage which it follows-up with a slap to the side of Cole’s head slashing at his already wounded ear for a further 6 points of slashing damage. The Gargoyle grins at seeing the damage it has caused and says āhuni irisiwomi āsik’eyamī nachewi. Thromkor holds up his staff again, and as he speaks a few words in Draconic, he reaches out and places his free hand to Gotrek's shoulder. After the first couple words, a second clawed hand splits from the first and reaches over to touch Cole. The hands glow briefly and then the orb at the top of his staff flashes as Gotrek is healed for 5 points and Cole healed for 11 points. Whilst Cole’s ear has stopped bleeding the damage was too much and it will never again be the cute, gently pointed, ear it had once been.
"Blasted thing, just die!"Gotrek says as he again attempts to knee the first Gargoyle in the ‘nads. Obviously using words of usually one syllable and very simple language works for Gotrek because the 7 points of bludgeoning damage is sufficient to send the Gargoyle crashing to the ground. He is then able to pivot and send his Great Axe crashing into the side of the second Gargoyle, which was too busy laughing at the damage it had done to Cole, to see the blow coming. Whilst the Gargoyle’s skin prevented all of the damage being passed on Gotrek did inflict 6 points of slashing damage.
The pain from his ear is sufficient to distract Cole and he is unable to land a blow with either his club or make a successful palm strike on the second Gargoyle."Well, it's effective, I guess,"Tibold mutters, glancing at the destruction wrought by Gotrek's brutal maneuver. He then turns towards the second Gargoyle saying "I'd tell you to jump in a lake, but I'm worried I'd boat the rock!"While the puns have sunk to a new low!, it is sufficient to cause pain to the second gargoyle, as its neurons synapse at a geological pace and it can’t keep up with Tibold’s often witty repartee. Consequently it takes 3 points of psychic damage.Still struggling to understand what Tibold had just said, the second Gargoyle turns to bite Cole. It however trips over its own feet and smashes face first into the body of the first Gargoyle taking 1 point of bludgeoning damage.
Thromkor shakes rock dust from his robes and motions toward the south door with his chin. "We might could make it to that door without getting close to any of the other statues. But do we want to chance it?"
"Well, you and I," he begins, looking towards Thromkor,
"need to find that dwarf. But we don't even know that he was ever here. And what with how hard this was, I doubt our ability to do much further today."
