After what can only be described as an epoch battle in which the Party took the enemy for granite, they decide to leave the monastery. Cole and Gotrek easily climb the wall and Tibold makes it over the wall using Gotrek’s rope. Eventually they manage to haul Thromkor up and over the wall. Once they get over the wall, Cole gives a low whistle and Spot (closely followed Phantom) comes out of a narrow canyon about 30 inches wide on the east wall of the box canyon. If you hadn’t seen Spot and Phantom come out of it, you perhaps wouldn’t have even noticed it.
Seeing the narrow canyon that Spot and Phantom come from, Gotrek says to the group, "The canyon over there looks like a spot worth exploring for a potential rest." Gotrek then proceeds to head over to the canyon carefully, Great-Axe ready in the event of any surprises. Back against the wall he peeks in.
Seeing no dangers in the canyon, Gotrek heads into it, gesturing to the others to follow. He puts down his gear, saying "I am happy to take first watch whilst you guys rest."
"Sir dwarf," Thromkor says, "I'm going to be up for a bit myself. I have a few things I'd like to work on. If you are obliged, I would be willing to take first watch and wake you for second?" Thromkor angles his staff so the head is chest level and after a few seconds of messing with it, the orb is freed from its mount. The dragonborn lays the ebony staff on the ground, sits upon his bedroll and begins muttering things in Draconic and making gestures. There are occasional flashes and other magical lights. Sometimes the air around him grows unnaturally cold. He sometimes takes in a sharp breath, but his eyes remain hard and thoughtful for the next few hours.
"Wake me when you need to,"Tibold says as he closes his eyes, already lying on his bedroll. For about ten minutes, he can be heard humming something in a light, odd language (Sylvan), but he then apparently falls asleep, for he does not move a muscle until dawn or until woken, whichever comes first.
"That is no worries, I will get some rest now then." Gotrek says, heading to his bed roll and falling asleep almost instantly.
Whilst keeping watch, Gotrek is going to think about the last few battles. What methods worked and what didn't. As he thinks, he realises that brute force was in general more effective, like against the gargoyles. No matter where he slashed with his axe, it was the force that did the damage. (Gotrek takes Great Weapon Master feat upon level up)
A small cave – 5.00 am Day 5 - First 10 Day - Kythorn (Month of Flowers)
OOC: Please update your character sheets as you have just had a long rest and are now also Level 4. Lanoros and Redleaf are still dark so they will no longer participate in the campaign. For all intents and purposes, depending on what the Party does, they will mind this camp.
After a reasonably cool night (50 degrees) the party wakes feel refreshed and ready to take on the world; perhaps even more so than yesterday. It appears to be a calm sunny day but because of the overhang, the cave and small box canyon are still in shadow. They can hear the wind occasionally whistling in the hills above the canyon but it is very still in the floor of the canyon.
Tibold rouses any late risers with a cheerful melody on his already summoned spectral keyboard. You notice there's something a little different about him today, but you can't quite say just what. Did he get a little taller, or are his ears a little pointier, or is he just in a good mood- actually, scratch that last one.
As soon as everyone is up, Tibold stands, slipping on his pack.
"We should get going," he advises, his usual scowl firmly back on his face.
"Our return will likely be greeted with further hostilities, and the less time we give our enemies to prepare, the better. After all, I would be quite surprised if they don't know what we did last night."
Tibold unceremoniously stuffs the cloth wrapping from a finished ration pack into his bag as he waits for a reply from the others.
As Gotrek gets up and puts his stuff away, quickly eating part of a ration and taking a swig from his water skin. "Our musical friend is right. We need to give ourselves every advantage possible. I think we should enter the same way?"
When and if the time comes, wall climb with the same method as before: 8
Re-entering the Monastery – 6.00 am Day 5 - First 10 Day - Kythorn (Month of Flowers)
By the time the party packs up camp, grabs a few rations to eat, and makes it way back down the narrow canyon and is once again standing outside the northeast corner of what you now know is the garden wall, it is now 6.00 am. It is possible that, despite sleeping well last night, Gotrek's legs are still tired from the battle yesterday because he is unable to get sufficient purchase on the wall to lead the climb this time.
Cole goes up the wall like a rat up a drain pipe and turns to the others and says "what was so hard about that?" He anchors the rope and the party climbs up and over the wall.
Tibold groans as he examines his scuffed boots, which look even worse than before. After that, he glances around to see if anything looks different from before.
Leaving the Monastery – 1.00 pm Day 4 - First 10 Day - Kythorn (Month of Flowers)

"Guess that's a good sign, or maybe they just don't hire night janitors. Ready to try the door?"
